Re: Bungie - Destiny
I currently have this pre-ordered for both the One and the PS4... not sure it will actually be worth playing on both systems...

Re: Bungie - Destiny
I don't believe that reviewers are getting their copies on Monday one bit. I posted the IGN unboxing of the Limited Edition and you can clearly see they have their copy right there in the case. Now, you can't tell me that they are not already playing it and formulating opinions on it which will in turn end up in the review. That is unless you absolutely have to be connected to their servers and must play online. If not, then you can boot up and give it a spin solo.

http://www.destinythegame.com/digital-upgrade If you buy the digital version of Destiny for the PS3, you get the PS4 version for free. Buy the 360 digital version, get the XBone version free. This includes the expansion pass and DLC from the limited edition. But it doesn't include disc versions, just the digitals. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Yeah, that's a really cool thing for people who might game on both systems. It would truly suck for folks that already pre-ordered a digital copy of the PS4 version though.
Personally, I'm keeping my $80 LE preorder. Seems like a nice enough deal on a truly limited commodity and I can't really imagine playing the PS3 version since both systems are hooked up to the same TV and couldn't conceive of a reason for choosing to play the PS3 version unless my PS4 were sent in for repair. Still, it's really cool to offer dual license at no additional charge. A few launch games had similar programs but they charged an additional $10. |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Yep, you have to hit Bungie's servers to play, even alone.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Some people have the game and are streaming the title screen... weird...

Well, maybe they will write up a review on the title screen. So, if Bungie's servers go down then we are just shit out of luck when it comes to this game? Ugh!
But yeah, in either case this game will be unplayable. Also, for those of us not fortunate enough to get all the limited edition swag, some kind people have gone through the books and images and found a bunch of codes that will at least let us mere mortals share in some of it: Spoiler:

Re: Bungie - Destiny
So since the characters are housed on Bungie's servers, if I get the PS3 version and do the upgrade, I could pick the game up on either console and play the same characters? I have my PS3 and PS4 in different rooms so that would be very useful for me if my girlfriend wanted the living room TV.

Yes. Your Sony Entertainment Network Account (PSN ID) will retain licenses for both consoles. Q. Will my Guardians, progress, stats, and gear carry over when I download and play the next-gen version? Yes. Whether you participate in this program or not, your Guardians, progress, stats, and gear are shared within a console family (PlayStation®3<->PlayStation®4 or Xbox 360<->Xbox One) and will be waiting for you when you transition to next-gen. Edit: The only real drawback of the upgrade program for Destiny is that you can't pre-load on PS4 if you buy the PS3 version. Might be a challenge on Sept 9th, but it's a free copy of the game for my kid, so... |
