Re: Bungie - Destiny

I'll probably ask this again the day before launch but who here is getting it at midnight and playing that night and following day? I'm off next Tuesday & Wednesday and getting the Digital Guardian...

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I'm off Tuesday and Wednesday but have to sit around waiting for UPS. It'll probably be the one day that they aren't in my neighborhood by 10am.

I'm not off either day, but I'll be home early most of the week. Definitely plan to play as much as I can.

Thought you guys might like to know that I pulled a Buzz here : I got my best friend who I've gamed with exclusively on Xbox Live for a decade now to trade in his 360 for a white Destiny pre-order bundle.

I told him I wasn't getting any more 360 games and he needed to go next gen. For the past year I've just been assuming he'd get a One eventually, but he asked me which system was better and I told him that I sort of thought the PS4 was more powerful, how the Game Share feature would allow him to play Diablo with me without having to go and buy the game, and how I'm getting Destiny on the PS4 and he'd probably really like that game a lot (we've played Borderlands 1 & 2 together for years). Suddenly he's made the switch, so after 9/9 we'll probably be available together a fair amount with this game.

...Go to the Blue Light...Come to the Blue Side....The Blue Force is strong with you...four of five of the "Gears, Borderlands & Halo" XBL group I constantly played with now have a PS4...and all four of them are getting Destiny.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I'm a dual owner as well as one of my buddies. We have another friend that his household is all XB1. They literally have three of them. We had to inform him that two of us are going PS4 for Destiny since we have other friends that are PS4 only. He is now considering picking up the Destiny bundle for PS4.

Here is my one hesitation. These games get hammered at launch, and almost are unplayable until a week later. That's been my experience lately with these launches. I worry about PSN stability versus Live for a game like this.

I think things were pretty stable in the Beta, which had to have gotten hammered during its brief run.

FWIW, the open beta ran pretty smoothly and I figure there are more people who would try it for free than would actually go out and buy.

Also, the game is pretty heavily instanced so you're not normally with a lot of people at a time.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

no release day Destiny review
http://www.polygon.com/forums/destin...destiny-review

Destiny developer Bungie and publisher Activision have decided to ship out review copies for their game for arrival on Monday, September 8th. As the game releases on September 9th, there is no practical way for us to have a Destiny review in time for its launch at midnight on the 9th in your territory of choice.
Seems odd for such a big game. Then again, maybe they're just not giving copies to Polygon, because Polygon hates games, gaming, and gamers.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Odd. For an online game like this you usually want reviewers in there the week before so they aren't inundated with first-day lag.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Surely, the game will be great (based on experiences with the beta, that's pretty much what everyone has decided), but it's a strange choice.

Destiny is review proof. Everybody has played it and has already formed an opinion.

Yep. They know that they don't even need to care about reviews for this one, so they can skip the headaches that come along with releasing early review copies into the wild.

For some of us lucky enough to play both the Alpha & Beta....that was better than any online, video site, critic review could give period. I was sold on the game before the Alpha, after the Alpha, before the Beta and even more so after the Beta. Don't need no stinkn' online review!

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I'll be traveling for work next week, so my copy won't see any playtime until the following Friday night, at the earliest. I'll be on PS4 if anyone hasn't added me as a friend yet and wants to, id: maxfisher77. Honestly, I keep almost canceling this, but am hoping once I get into it, that I'll find it less underwhelming than the Beta.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

If everyone cancels 3 out of 4 preorders this game is going to tank!

I cancelled 1 out of 2 of mine today. Thinking about cancelling the other one, honestly.

I'm keeping both of mine until I have the LE in hand from BB.
