translation, a bunch of lies about PvP as nothing has really changed for the better and the weekly update is delayed

The biggest problem with their matchmaking is fireteams. Look at us for example, we're located all over the continent. While we're all around the same level of skill in Crucible, we spread from the west coast to the east coast. We even sometimes go down to Oklahoma and up to Canada. And that's just for the Daggers.
Now you have all these other fireteams that just get together in LFG for the purposes of not playing IB alone. They're just as spread out. And their skill may not be as level as ours. So somehow matchmaking has to compensate for all of this.
Then of course there's the even bigger issue: Destiny's player base has eroded significantly. There just aren't enough people playing the game anymore. There are less and less people around that both match your skill and have a good connection.
The bottom line is that it's the solo players that get punished the most for all of this. Solo players are the leftovers, the spackle of the games. They get plugged in to fill a hole, usually in a game that's already started. And this is the part that Bungie refuses to do anything about. They need to give players the option of joining games in progress and playing fireteams instead of forcing it on everyone.

It's that time of the week again, time to see what ole Tentacle face has for everyone this week. It's the Xur Report!
Xur is located in the Tower Hangar, down in the Lounge.

For the Titan, it's the Emperyan Bellicose helmet. Like to float in the air and be a perfect target for enemies? This is the helmet for you!
For the Hunter, it's the Skyburner's Annex helmet. Heavy kills generate orbs, orbs can give you special ammo, and heavy kills gives you super energy. Tasty.
For the Warlock, it's the Alchemist's Raiment chest. Need some extra glimmer? This one will give you glimmer for picking up ammo packs (a whole 3-5 glimmer!)
No engram this week because...
The weapon this week is the classic Thunderlord.
The legacy engram is for chests. Unless you need a Lucky Raspberry or Purifer Robes, don't buy this.
And that'll do it for the text report this week. Stay tuned for the video version, coming right up, along with a special video a little later involving myself and Ice in a little Rift action.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HprzzCKBZ38" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
And here's the Rift video. Think scoring a rift on a team pisses them off? Watch what I do to them after dunking the rift home!

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Just an honest question, but why are you guys still playing as much as you are? Are there no new games since Destiny has been released that you are interested in? Or at the very least, something to play until the next big content release?

I still keep coming back to this damn game - it's a great time-waster - log on, go to mars, kill a bunch of enemies with people I don't know - they wave to me, I wave back, leave, go the cryptarch to get a shitty gift decoded, dismantle it, log off.

I just started this game back up after about a year away. I am a single player pretty much. I play on 360 and no one i know plays it. I am troubled that there is STILL no raid matchmaking. I would love to play one.

Re: Bungie - Destiny
if you are ok with random matchmaking there are plenty of 3rd party options available .... I understand for ease of use why someone would want it integrated into the game proper but there are very good reasons for it not to be as well

Weekly update is up and pretty much only provides a description of 2v2 PvP in the Crimson Days event
those seeking PVE or additional meaningful info .... no need to bother
What inspired the creation of Crimson Days?
Leif: We wanted to develop a small, fun PvP activity that speaks to the themes and emotions of Valentine’s Day. Try that design exercise in your head. What features would you build into a competitive shooter experience to provide a metaphor for going on dates, relationships, and love?
What did you end up with?
Leif: For one week, we’re opening up a Fireteam-Only 2v2 Elimination playlist with a twist: you get a significant buff while your teammate is dead. Having to ask someone to be your Guardian Valentine and being filled with angry vengeance when they get killed are the experiences that I hope will define the event.
Tell us more about the new mechanics. How does it help us to avenge our vanquished partners?
Leif: When your teammate dies, you become “enraged” with the Broken Heart buff. When you find yourself alone in the fight, you gain maximum ratings for Armor, Agility, Recovery, and Weapon Handling speed. Hearing Bungie devs swear vengeance for their beloved Crimson partners during playtests sealed the deal for me.
How did the event themes impact the rewards?
Leif: Pairing up and having your kills count toward your teammate's Crimson Days Bounties seemed to reinforce the theme of partnership. I hope it will create even less friction for more casual players to team up with high-skill friends. A player can carry their teammate through matches andto the rewards.
The couple that slays together profits together! So why just one week?
Leif: This is a special occasion. We didn’t want it to overstay its welcome and drift away from its “small and fun” goal. I’m hoping the timing feels right for you guys as well.
Time will tell. Crimson Days starts February 9th. You still have time to court the perfect teammate.
