Second that and anyone cancelling their P.O now would be in their right but why...there's not 50+ mega maps and areas as one thought? There were plenty of restricted areas in the Alpha & Beta that was not opened and the Moon area was only opened for two hours...and it too had vast areas that was not allowed or unable to get to. We haven't even touched or seen all the other places. And don't forget...Bugie has said they envison this as a "10 Year Project"

this whole "10 year project" crap is just marketing speak

Uncharted is a 10 year project as well, Halo is a 10+ year project, they just put numbers after each installment

in this case you can just replace Destiny 2, 3, 4 with Destiny expansion pack 2, 3, 4, 5, etc .....

Yeah, part of the contract is 4 games over the 10 years.

Well shoot, I only got to play Destiny for a little bit - today only. Looks like I picked the wrong week to go on vacation (and to quit sniffing glue).

You didn't miss much, other than another chance to play the game. There was only a tiny bit more content than the Alpha, and half of that was cut scenes. Didn't stop me from doing it all again though!

Interesting discussion about the four games. there's really nothing wrong with a sequel every 2-3 years IMO, and it's hardly like expansion packs are a new thing. It would be interesting if the level cap went to 20 in the first game, 40 in the second, then 60 and 80 and it let you carry your characters forward with lots of new customization options. I can hardly fault Bungie for having a vision for the whole process rather than figuring it out as they go like most developers do.

And I have zero doubt that there will be $60 worth of content in this game. Seriously, c'mon. I probably have 30-40 hours just in the alpha and beta!

I'm committed to my PS4 Guardian Digital and cannot wait. Played the Alpha and Beta along with all three classes. Looking at the list of Missions, Enemy Levels and abundance of items along with three classes to play there will be plenty to do. I don't care to rush thru this at all but take time to actually explore a bit which I think Bungie wants you do since this is not a typical FPS game even compared to the Halo Series.

I'm still torn between the Guardian Digital for $89 and the Limited for $99.

On the one hand, I don't need more physical stuff, and I like the idea of having Destiny available without the disk in the drive. I'd also like to keep $10.

But on the other hand, I like steelbooks, and some of the other stuff in the package looks cool. I also like the idea of having the residual value of the physical disk. That alone might be worth $10. Plus I have Gamestop credit, so no tax either way.

I'm leaning toward the Limited Edition. I've never bought a game with trinkets included before, unless you count the steelbook for the Metroid Prime Trilogy at no extra cost, but this seems like a worthy game.

I'm going to skip this until I see reviews of the final game. I played about an hour of the beta (so, not at all as far as anyone is concerned), and it was fine, but I'll wait and see if this is a must-have early on, or if I should just wait for a sale.

No Glacier White PS4 bundle for me. :(

I'm at the point where I have almost no doubt whatsoever that I'll love the game. It has all of the loot and customization stuff that pulls me in, great art design, interesting environments, solid mechanics and AI, and my entire friends list seems to be all about it.

Plus there's fuck all coming out this year.

I don't mind collecting "stuff"...heck I still have a Gears of War Remote vehicle in the box from GOW2. But I also don't care for driving 15-17 miles at midnight, standing in line to get the game, come back and install it when I can have it all there ready to go at midnight in the comfort of my Rec Room. If I thought I was going to trade it in..yea but not this game. If anything I'll get something off the Bungie Storefront. I'm still kicking myself for not getting the Limited Signed Lithograph. Now with Assassins Creed Unity, Far Cry 4 and The New Order...that might be a different story....

Well, I'm an idiot. I had pre-ordered the Limited Edition at Best Buy, but I just sold some stuff back there and I wanted to use the store credit instead of putting the purchase on my credit card. However, Best Buy has no way of changing payment method after you placed your order, so I canceled my order and went to re-order it, only to find out that it's sold out not just for store pickup, but also for shipping. Fuckity fuck.

If only BB would offer their gamers club discounts on digital editions, I would just order that. Son of a fuck.

With the popularity of the horde modes and firefight in Reach and ODST, how much do you want to bet that we get some sort of Strike type of horde mode. Not sure if they would do that at release or patch it in at a later date, but it would be pretty damn cool.

Horde modes are one thing I can do without.

Re: Bungie - Destiny

Okay, so since all pre-orders are getting the armory bonus, with my gamer's club discount, if I get the regular edition and then buy the season pass of the DLC at full price, I'll actually be paying less than the price of the digital special edition. I won't get any of the physical goodies, but I'll look at those once and then be annoyed at the extra space they're taking up. I think the only other thing I might not get is some extra skins/emblems/cosmetic stuff that doesn't affect my gameplay in any way.

When I first played the Alpha one thing that struck me was how detail the day to night and the shy looked. Well someone put together a time lapse video of several locations and time periods showing really how great Bungie has done with the sky patterns.

They're already in the game.

Depending on where you're at in one of the explorable areas, you have the option of doing multiple waves of enemies before the clock runs out. Everyone in the "lobby" (proximity) will be able to participate. I experienced one during my time in Old Russia during the beta.

Not sure if you already talked about this, but does anyone else thinks that the menus/ui seem to be made for PC? Like you are supposed to use a mouse to click in the options or something.

That's very minor, I love the game, but that UI is really bad for a CONSOLE game.

Agree that it's counterintuitive.

One of the consoles has a nice touchpad that seems like it would be perfect for for the UI. Shame they don't seem to be using it.

It was one of my more minor annoyances for the game. After making an adjustment to your equipment, it never seemed to bring your cursor back to where you would expect it to be. It was irritating, but it doesn't seem like you spend an overly long amount of time in those menus. Hopefully that continues to be the case.

Michael Corvin 07-29-14 11:37 AM

Re: Bungie - Destiny

I think the UI is tailored for the PS4 motion like when you're typing.
