Re: Bungie - Destiny
from weekly update
Gavin: Hello again, my fellow Raiders! I wanted to give you a heads-up on an upcoming feature for the King's Fall Raid: Challenge Modes! Early in December, one of the King's Fall bosses will offer their challenge each week. You'll see which boss when you select the Raid in the Director. It will display next to a skull, just like one of our Nightfall modifiers. They work on both normal and hard mode, and offer rewards to match. Each boss's challenge requires that you defeat them in a very specific manner. How, exactly? We're going to leave that up to you to discover (but apologies in advance to those that run the single-pool strat for Golgoroth). Good luck, Guardians! http://www.bungie.net/pubassets/48797/k-d-light.jpg I know I was going in at around 306 and averaged well above the 1.2 K/D at the top of the chart ... can't say that for most of my teammates Next week, we'll be chatting with Sage about Titan ups and downs in December. Sunbreakers are a hot topic, but they only represent one-third of the Titan conversation. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
If they are nerfing Titans in general I'll be soooooooo pissed.
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Sunbreakers will most assuredly be nerfed, sounds like one or more of the other subclasses might be buffed
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Attention Destiny shoppers! Xur has arrived in the Tower with his Black Xursday deals. Head over to center tower near the guardian table and check out the doorbusters that Xur has brought this week.
Or, you could just look here. You're welcome. http://oi68.tinypic.com/2la5wki.jpg For the Titan, it's the Helm Of Saint-14. You know the story. Blinding bubbles. Always useful. Good item to have. For the Hunter, it's the Crest Of Alpha Lupi chest armor. You probably have this already. Revives are faster, and you generate an extra orb. For the Warlock, it's the Light Beyond Nemesis helmet. This does the same thing the Alpha Lupi does for the Hunters and Titans. Looks cool with shaders. Useful. No armor engram this week because.... The weapon this week is The Fourth Horseman. It's the first time Xur has ever offered this weapon, since it was a Playstation exclusive. It was also the exotic that eluded me the longest. It's fun to use at times, but not the most practical weapon. Looks cool though. The legacy engram this week is for Special weapons. Unless you need a POE Exotic weapon, don't buy this. So there we go, another so so Black Friday for Xur. The items are OK, and we get a Xur debut. But it would have been nice to get a surprise. Oh well. Stay tuned for the video report, coming up soon. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZJsDEaCXrsY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
First off...thank you very much for the "Guided Tour" of the Dreadnaught and finishing the story with another character....a great experience. I'll probably grab the Chest for the Hunter since he's the only one right night "without" an Exotic armor piece, I have the Empyrean Helm for the Titan & Power Gloves while my Warlock has a chest. Tempted on The Fourth Horsemen as I never got it but at 23 coins that's a serious hit for me. I'll grab some 3-of-coins instead and continue to roll the dice...it worked ok last week. Thanks for all Scott....much appreciated

And restarting this whole game from scratch really gives me a completely different perspective on how to do things with The Taken King. Things that I could just take for granted are gone. Example: Exotic Shards. I had a HUGE stockpile of these, and still have plenty on my main account. My new account has 0, and only 2 exotics total. I got that Ice Breaker, and then after buying some 3 Of Coins I got The Impossible Machines. And since you can't buy them anymore, the only way to get them is to dismantle exotics. Joy. So I can no longer count on infusing exotics like I once could. So if I buy at 280, it's gonna be stuck there for a while. I was going to buy the Light Beyond Nemesis, but just before that I had ranked up Vanguard, and the reward was a legendary helmet. So I passed on the exotic for now. That's why I bought the 3 of coins and ended up with exotic gauntlets (at 290) instead. Thought about the Horseman as well, but I'd rather buy 15 3 of coins for 21 coins. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Yesterday I used 3 of coins once and got 2 exotic engrams. My lucky day!

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Can someone explain just how the Exotic Blueprints work? I see where I can buy Year Two with the marks but how does the ones that show up after you get one work? Can you do one or two and what does it take? Also are there any Year Twos that would still be worth it...like the G-Horn later on?

1) Any Year 1 Exotics you had when Taken King came out were added to your collection. You could then buy any of them for Glimmer and an Exotic shard. 2) Any Year 2 versions of the Year 1 items you had were also unlocked. These cost a shard and Legendary Marks. 3) Once you acquire a Year 2 exotic, you can get the same item out of the kiosks for Glimmer and a shard. These are all set at 280 no matter what level the one you obtained is at. 4) The December update will be adding a few new Year 1 exotics to Year 2: Hard Light, No Land Beyond, MIDA Multi-Tool, Dragon's Breath, Super Good Advice and Plan C are the weapons. Warlock gets Nothing Manacles and Apotheosis Veil helmet. Hunter gets the Symbiote Helmet, Bones Of Eao and Radiant Dance Machines. Titans get Armamentarium and Peregrine Greaves. If you had Year 1 versions, the year 2 blueprint will be in your kiosk. The Titan and Hunter are also getting new chest pieces with the update. But these are Year 2 only. Titans get Twilight Garrison, which allows them to evade while jumping, while the Hunter gets the ATS/8 Tarantella, which added faster charging for arc grenades and arc blade. There is one exception to all this, though the December update could fix it. A few weeks back, Xur sold a Year 2 version of the Skull Of Dire Ahamkara. If you bought one, it was not added to the kiosk, and isn't on the list for December. It was also not added to the loot table, meaning you can't get it through the engram or drops. So it exists in some kind of limbo at this point. If you bought it, you're fine as long as you don't delete it. We don't know if this was a Xur error or not. I thought it would be a cool way to bring back old items and make Xur more interesting. But since it only happened that one time, it doesn't look like it'll be tried very often. EDIT: Just to add a little more insight, I have kept a few Year 1 exotics, as they still have some use in Year 2. Some are on the list for December. Year 1 Exotics I haven't scrapped: Ice Breaker Vex Mythoclast Gjallarhorn (still have 1!) Thorn Lord Of Wolves MIDA Multi-Tool Armor: The Ram Symbiote Helmet Khepri's Sting (not sure why I still have this) Lucky Raspberry Armamentarium Bones Of Eao The only ones I carry regularly are the Armamentarium and Bones Of Eao, both of which are coming in December. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Ever since their Solar brothers and sisters entered the explosive mix of Destiny with the arrival of The Taken King, they've been quite the hot topic of conversation. Even before the first fiery salvo landed in someone's face, there has been plenty of feedback about our armored friends. While we're making some adjustments to Sunbreakers in Update 2.1.0, we won't be leaving Strikers and Defenders out in the cold this winter. Tomorrow (Friday, December 4th), we'll have a new preview article on the Updates portion of the blog. There, you'll find Senior Design Lead Sage Merrill holding court and delivering developer commentary about what will befall every Titan next week. Expects stats and insights for each subclass. Expect full Patch Notes for Update 2.1.0 to land alongside the update itself, early next week. We'll let you know when the Titan preview is live, after one rotation of our Earth. 339,900: That's how many Guardians have unlocked the Worm Gods' Servant emblem between the weekly reset and earlier today, just before Bungie User Research went to lunch. Along with a fancy new emblem, victory in a boss challenge will also net you an additional layer of top-tier loot (310 Light in King's Fall Normal and 320 in King's Fall Hard). For those of you who have craved better Raid rewards, this isn't the last opportunity you'll have to rake them in. One of three optional challenges will be featured each weak. The Warpriest encounter is the opening act. If you're up to the challenge and haven't tackled it yet, get in there and get some enhanced endgame gear while the gettin' is good. For those wondering if the challenge will ramp up at Golgoroth, let us know what you think next week. Before we go, here's a final shopping tip: If you see something you like on the Eververse store – something you've been meaning to pick up any day now – this is a good time to grab it. The December Update will refresh the inventory available from Tess. She'll put the stuff you see now in some bags you can still acquire with some Silver, but their contents will be less direct and predictable. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Well folks, a funny thing happened on my way to finding Xur this week: his shop was closed! After scouring the Tower for ol' Tentacle Face and being unsuccessful, I made my way to the Reef, only to find Xur's door closed, and a large group of guardians on the outside trying to get in. As I made my way closer, I could see why. Xur was behind the door! It was seriously the most action the Reef has had in months.
Finally, I logged out and back in, and voila, the door was open. For more on this part of the story, stay tuned for the video report coming up later. Until then, let's get on with the text report this week, brought to you by Challenge Mode for King's Fall. Want some 320 items? Want a calcified fragment? Want a new emblem to impress your friends? Challenge mode is for you! This week, you can do challenge mode against the Warpriest. You can do it today, or you can do it on Friday! Xur, as mentioned above, is located in The Reef. For those that have forgotten, the Reef is that other tower that you can access on the left of your screen on that purple blob that says Reef on it. EDIT: Xur is now relocated to The Tower, in the hangar according to our good friend musick. Here's the deals: http://oi64.tinypic.com/nx9g1i.jpg For the Titan, it's Ruin Wings. The Year 1 favorite, back in Year 2 form. Heavy drops more often, and you get more heavy from each drop. The former is up for debate, while the latter is true. Looks cool with shaders now. For the Hunter, it's the Skyburners Annex helmet. This helmet has a chance to spawn orbs on heavy kills, while picking up orbs gives you a chance at special ammo. This helm also has a perk where heavy kills will give you super energy. So basically heavy kills with this helm can charge your super, and your partners as well. For the Warlock, it's The Stag helmet. Got friends that die a lot? This helm will let you charge your super faster when they're all dead! It also has a chance to spawn an overshield for you on respawn. Overall, I'd say the perks aren't that great, unless you're in trials. Bring back The Ram! No armor engram this week because... The weapon this week is the Telesto Fusion Rifle. This is bar none, the best Fusion Rifle in the game. Sure, you could argue for the Sex Mythoclast, but that's a Year 1 weapon, and a Fusion in name only. The Telesto is a normal Fusion that has something extra. Along with the normal shot, you also shoot tiny bombs that attach to whatever you hit. And a second later, they explode. It takes the Telesto from a decent Fusion, to an awesome one. The gun also has a perk that will have you generate orbs when you get a multikill. Those bombs make that happen pretty often. If you don't have this gun, BUY IT! The Legacy Engram this week is for Special Weapons. Unless you really want a House Of Wolves Exotic, don't buy this. So there we go, stay tuned for the video report, coming up next. Apologies if the audio is too loud, I had to rerecord the entire audio track within the editor as the original audio was messed up. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/syl0z-VK6sA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> EDIT: One more thing. With the December Update coming next week, keep in mind that several exotics will be added to the loot table at this time. You may want to stock up on Three Of Coins, but not use them until after the update. And with boots and Heavy Weapons making up a good chunk of the new items, it's possible that those engrams will start dropping as well. You might also want to save your coins for next week. Just food for thought. |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
I haven't logged on in over a month, but I'll hop on to grab that Telesto.
I'm running low on strange coins. I know before you could easily get some doing the weekly, but what is the easiest way now? |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Naturally of all the Exotics he has and the little I've got.....I landed the Telestro and Skag Helm last week using 3-of-coins and bought some gloves for the Titan already. I might grab the Skyburners Helm since that heavy perk seems to be pretty good giving my Hunter at least one Exotic Helm, Gloves and Chest. Titan & Warlock have at least two pieces. So Stock & Hold 3-of-Coins and when is this update? I think I have about (11) 3-of-Coins on hand and about 108 Strange Coins.

Xur's stay at the Reef was short lived
He is now in the Tower hangar for those who can't find the Agent Of The 9 |

see post 6565 or just stand by the reef door and continue to knock politely if you are a Titan you'll soon be able to knock from further away |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Haha shit I just saw that. Thanks.
Any idea why they moved him? Has that happened before? |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
All I can say is... it's about goddamn time...
Sparrows might finally become relevant |
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Playstation will also get exclusive gear for December's Iron Banner
|
Re: Bungie - Destiny
Man, sparrow racing looks pretty damn cool. I really hope they let you take a full fireteam in, since it does say race against your friends.
Only 2 tracks is a bit disappointing though. |

Re: Bungie - Destiny
Seems like they did a serious nerd to the Sunbreaker side with Forge and Flame which was suspected but balanced it out with Striker and Defender which might be a good thing.
I grabbed close to 8 legendary yesterday but sad part is....4 were heavy weapons and all were machine guns....good grief can't get a break. I've unlocked the mission to upgrade my sword on two characters...kill 50 majors and do some in the crucible. Any advice and tips on this? I don't play in the crucible hardly at all. |
