The Evolution of PC Graphics

Came across this and found it somewhat interesting. A group put together 3Dmark, test and demo footage from 2000 till 2013.The video is 2hrs long and includes several well known games. It's actually quite amazing to see the progress made throughout the years.

I read a comment once that I thought summed it up pretty well: graphics are like aging. You don't really notice it from year to year, but when you look at a picture of someone from 5 or 10 years ago compared to today, you think "wow, he's getting old."

They needed to start this in 1996, that was a huge transitional period.

If they wanted to really show the evolution they should have started with the Apple II or Commodore since that's where PC gaming actually began. 1996 or 2000 is late in the game.

My fondest memory of elementary school is playing Oregon Trail and Number Munchers on the Apple II.

Would've been much more effective if it were around 5 minutes instead of over 2 hours.

Also, jumping through the video, the leap in graphics, which impressive, isn't nearly as big as I thought it would be.

I think it would have been more interesting if he skipped the graphics demos and focused just on games.
