Kind of a mix bag of news today but but seems more leaning in the "bad" than good...
No DLNA support...
No External Drive Support
No Music Visualizer
No dynamic theme support
No MP3 or CD audio playback
...But we at least got word Planetside 2 will be available early 2014 and Warframe i a go at launch

And I planned on putting a big 3 TB drive in there when I got one.
Still the lack of MP3 and DLNA is a little baffling, but not particularly disappointing.

One of the other thing people seem to be pissed about is that you won't be able to change your name from PS3 to PS4: http://kotaku.com/youre-gonna-be-stu...ps4-1455449909

Not sure if these were added or a misprint or what but over at Gameinformer they have the story on Planetside 2 being released in early 2014 but in the same story has this....
In an interview with Bloomberg, Sony Online Entertainment head John Smedley states that Planetside 2 is on track for an early 2014 release. Sony has touted a number of free-to-play titles for the PlayStation 4, two of which will be available at launch (as of now).
In addition to the DC Comics-themed MMO, Digital Extremes is set to roll out Warframe on November 15. We also know that Blacklight: Retribution from Zombie Studios and War Thunder from Gaijin Entertainment are slated for launch on the PlayStation 4.

I did not see Blacklight or War Thunder on the launch list from yesterday.

For anybody on the fence about Knack, I would pass. I played a bit yesterday and man, it is extremely generic. You are pretty much forced along tight paths with no exploration, and the environments are quite bland. Not trying to hate on the PS4 or anything, but I would encourage people to try a demo or something first.

The lack of DLNA is kind of a big deal for me, as I stream a shit load of content from my PC through my PS3. It's nice since the PS3 upconverts stuff to 1080, while the 360 and other streamers do not. Guess I'm gonna have to keep my PS3...

Even if the PS4 ends up with equal capabilities through firmware updates, I'd still use the PS3 to save wear and tear. Plus I still have a fairly sizeable PS3 library and backlog.

Release thoughts, scares, I guess, but I wonder if any of the two consoles are going to have a Netflix app ready by release date. I'm sure they will wait until the end to announce that, i.e. They are working overtime to have it ready.
I know, almost everything runs Netflix, so it's not like we are going to be suffering. But if you want to be the center of the living room you need Netflix.

I actually love Knack's art style and basic premise, and I think the story looks interesting, but the emphasis on brawling over platforming and puzzles leaves me cool on it. I was really hoping to get a Crash/Jak vibe from the gameplay, but it looks more like God of War.
Ultimately, I look at Knack about the same way I look at Ryse. It's pretty, and at face value I should like it, but the gameplay looks terribly uninspired. I'll bet they both review in the low 7's, but I could picture either of them in the 6's or even 5's, and aint nobody got time for that...especially on the heels of Puppeteer and Ratchet & Clank.
Puppeteer should have been a PS4 launch title IMO. It could have used the exposure, and it's damn pretty.

I agree on Knack. Its too bad as I really like 3D platformers. I already have Killzone. If I decide for a second retail game, I'm leaning NBA. I would probably enjoy Lego Marvel and Injustice more, but I don't see them taking advantage of the hardware like NBA.

I can't remember the last time I bought a sports game, but I think NBA 2K14 might have to be my third game in the B2G1. The IGN guys make a case that it could be the most technically impressive launch title (compared with Ryse and Killzone), and I can see the case for that, though I'm pretty sure BF4 belongs in that discussion. Anyway, here's the rewind, all PS4 footage:

None of the "negative" reveals from the other day impacts me too much, since I don't really use my consoles for anything other than gaming. I didn't see that changing much with this generation.
It probably would've been nice to stream music for custom soundtracks, but I never bothered with this feature on any console before, so I guess I can't miss what I never used in the first place.
Knack has always looked kind of generic. Mostly a technical showpiece more than anything, I guess.
I'm on the fence about taking part in the B2G1 on the 15-16. There are two games that I don't already have preordered that I'd be picking up sometime down the road, but like a lot of people, I'm having a hard time thinking of that third game. I'll probably stop by Target one of those days and see what's still on the shelves, then make up my mind then. I heard Amazon might be honoring the B2G1 deal, so I might get something from them.
