State of Decay

This looks great! Can't believe it's going to be an XBL title. Comes out 1st Quarter 2013. |
Re: State of Decay
Wow!
|
Re: State of Decay
That's just a stepping stone to Undead Labs "Class 4" which will be I think Xbox's first real MMO.
|
Re: State of Decay
Looks good. Looking forward to reviews.
|
Re: State of Decay
Word is that you can recruit any NPC (non-playable characters) and that they all have different capabilities.
This game is probably only going to cost around 15 bucks too. |
Re: State of Decay
that looks pretty damn solid.
|
Re: State of Decay
Looks great. Im in!
|
Re: State of Decay
Thanks for posting...
I hate to say it but it looks better than LFD. The extra moves by the player caught my attention. Almost like Wrestling meets Zombies. Just hope it hits in the early part and not the later of 1stQ....Bioshock infinite, Gears of War, Aliens; Colonial Marines along with Borderlands DLC |
Re: State of Decay
I've been waiting for this one for a while now. I was a huge fan of the Day Z mod on PC before it was ruined, and this looks to expand beautifully on that concept in a single player world without assholes to ruin it for you. I'm just hoping it is hard and realistic, like Day Z was. If you haven't played one of these 'zombie apocalypse survival simulations' yet, you're in for a treat. The concept is so much fun, and this game looks like it will have tons to do.

Re: State of Decay
Awesome trailer. Hope the game lives up to it.

Re: State of Decay
I was all set to say, "Oh good, another zombie game. Pass." But fuck me if that doesn't look great.
|
Re: State of Decay
Did I watch the same video as you guys? Looks like a bad PS2 game...
|
Re: State of Decay
Oh look, it's "the graphics aren't impressive" guy
Guessed you missed the part where I mentioned it's an XBL title |
Re: State of Decay
OMG! Zombies that run!
;) The game looks great. |

What happened to Day Z? I never got around to playing it.
I'm just hoping State of Decay builds a good, actual game around the concept, which is what Day Z lacks in a ridiculous attempt to make it more sim (even though the engine is so marginal for this type of game it lacks support even for melee weapons). |
Re: State of Decay
is that Taco from The League at the very end, walking towards the camera?

Re: State of Decay
It's looking good for sure. Still hoping for more of an RPG open world experience and less story driven. More Fallout than GTAIV.
|
Re: State of Decay
I'm really surprised at the lack of interest in this game. Perhaps I should have put OPEN WORLD ZOMBIE GAME in the title?
|
Re: State of Decay
I'm waiting on reviews.

That said, I hate sneaking around in games, so that's a downside for me :) |

Re: State of Decay
You sure about that? GTA, Fallout, Borderlands, etc are open world/sandbox games and their threads get tons of replies. Sure, those are established franchises but you'd think gamers would be aware of this.
By the way, IGN spent 4 hours with the game and posted their thoughts: 4 Hours with State of Decay Here is the conclusion of the article: "As my gameplay time was drawing to a close, I was just beginning to be advised about building out areas of the church in order to make our little survivor colony stronger. Though I didn’t get a chance to do this, the developers at Undead Labs hinted at all sorts of things to build, such as an infirmary, a workshop, a kitchen, and even a garden! If my four hours are any indication, State of Decay is amazingly deep, especially for an Xbox Live Arcade game. The fact I honestly didn’t want to stop playing when my time was up only reinforced this notion. I did run into a few graphical glitches, where zombies would run through walls, and I could see through some of the other characters if I had the camera at the right angle, but the depth of the experience makes those little issues pretty forgivable. At this point, I’m very optimistic about State of Decay’s massive ambition and scope. If this isn’t headlining the annual Summer of Arcade promotion, then Microsoft is doing something wrong." |
Re: State of Decay
The "for me" is pretty important there, I just find the whole concept of running around a giant virtual world doing very little to be boring. But yes they are very popular, but it's a new IP, it has a generic title, and the thread just has a title in it, it doesn't say "Zombie Action Sandbox" or anything.

Then again, Deadlight was another zombie game that looked amazing in trailers (and got its own thread here as well), but the final game was certainly not so hot. |
Re: State of Decay
IGN has been posting 15 minute gameplay videos with commentary. I think it looks fantastic, can't believe this is an arcade title.
I don't think an official release date has been announced yet (this month though), and IGN is posting their review on Wed. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/xMqPijQs2M4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Re: State of Decay
Major Nelson tweeted that this comes out Wednesday for 1600 points. I'll wait for IGN's review, but from what i've seen, this should be a instant purchase for me.

Re: State of Decay
This will be a nice appetizer for The Last of Us.
|
Re: State of Decay
Game looks very nice. Watching the recent video on IGN a few minutes ago gave me a chuckle when a zombie climbed up and over a fence with barbed wire and wiggled through the barbed wire.

Re: State of Decay
8.9 from IGN. Will download later today.
|
Re: State of Decay
I bought it earlier. Hope it is finished downloading, as I want to get rolling here with it shortly.
|
Re: State of Decay
Looking forward to your guys' thoughts before I purchase this. It looks intriguing but the IGN video made it look boring as hell (the three minutes or so I watched).
|
Re: State of Decay
It starts out slow as shit, that's for sure. About an hour or so in. Just wandering around collecting shit. Finally got to a point where I've got other survivors.
|
Re: State of Decay
About 3.5 hours in, so far, so good. It seems very much like a crossover of Left 4 Dead and Dead Island. I like that you can swap between survivors, but that poses problems because if you don't really consistently swap, the characters don't build up their skills as quickly. I'm at a point where I now have 11 survivors.
Some of the features are cool. Upgrading your camp is cool because you can decide what to do with it. There's a neat radio feature where it finds you supplies and you can go out and collect. Furthermore, when you do find a cache of food/weapons/supplies/whatever, you can call someone in to come pick it up, so you don't have to lug it back. Kind of neat. You can also make improvised outposts that are fortified to help you out. |
Re: State of Decay
So worth the $20?
I just bought it, waiting for it to download. |
Re: State of Decay
Hard to say if it is worth $20 since I'm so early in it.
|
Re: State of Decay
But you like it so far? Seems to be a good bet it'll be worth it.
|
Re: State of Decay
Yes, I'm enjoying it. Some new features. The graphics aren't anything special, but I wasn't expecting them to be since this is a live title.
