Re: Metro: Last Light - Genesis

I Redboxed it after cancelling my pre-order due to the DLC nonsense. I'm about halfway through and while it's decent, the first game was significantly better.

Re: Metro: Last Light - Genesis

By the way, if you're playing on 360 (as I know you are, foxdvd) and you care about achievements (as I know you do, foxdvd), the ones for Ranger Mode are currently bugged and will not unlock. So not only did they turn the mode into DLC, they screwed up that part as well.

fuck me...I wonder if I should just finish on ranger mode and hope they patch it to retro the achievement?

I agree with this. It is not that the game is bad, it is just missing something. I also find the spiders to be a huge pain in the ass...

Re: Metro: Last Light - Genesis

Just finished an entire playthrough (my second) without killing a single human, except for the only one in the entire game you must kill, and did not get the Shadow Ranger achievement. Super!

The game also freezes up on me pretty regularly. Avoid this thing until it's patched.

Re: Metro: Last Light - Genesis

From the amount of traffic this thread has I have a feeling this game will be avoided even after a patch.
I had some hope for this game but it seems like it's another bargain bin or just plain skip.

Re: Metro: Last Light - Genesis

It's actually a very good game, outside of the glitches. A shame, really.

You're the only person I know of that's said that - pretty much all the reviews and other fans of the fist game unanimously agree that this sequel is better than the first game.

Re: Metro: Last Light - Genesis

Well, foxdvd said it 3 posts below mine, so now you know 2 people. Congrats!

The sequel is more polished and obviously had a bigger budget, hence the very slightly improved review scores, but the first game had a unique personality that made it more enjoyable to me (and everyone else I know who has played both, as long as we're including anecdotal evidence). It was one of those games where the roughness around the edges gave it an individual charm. That is now gone in place of a more generic stealth shooter, albeit a really good one.

Re: Metro: Last Light - Genesis

So it sounds like Metro Redux is coming to PS4 & XB1.

"The title would reportedly consist of remastered versions of 2010's Metro 2033 and 2013's Metro: Last Light, as well as their downloadable add-ons."

Seems like an odd choice considering there never seemed to be much widespread interest in these titles. I used to get excited about "upgraded" versions of old games on the PS3 and 360, but it seemed like outdated gameplay always outweighed whatever could be gained by shinier graphics. Just don't think I'll be interested this generation.

It sounds like this gen (PS4 and XB1) games are easy to transfer from PC to Console. It must not cost much to make.

I'd be in for this. They were both extremely pretty games on PC, so it will be nice to play these on the couch with a controller.

It's the entire reason I bought a PS4-equivalent graphic card for my PC. PC gaming should flourish because of it.

Heh, I just realized the title of this thread "Metro: Last Light - Genesis", sounds like a Gabriel-era Genesis album.

Metro Redux is coming out on 8/26. Too bad they couldn't get it out next month, but at least it's still somewhat soon.

Would have done better this month. During that time you are right in the middle of Last of Us Remastered and GTAV.

I chuckled the first time I saw it. I laughed even harder seeing you laugh at your own joke a year later...

Looks like I'll have to pass with The Last of Us out on the 29th and August 18th Diablo III Reaper of Souls. Also in the middle of the August is Plants vs Zombies for the PS4

Re: Metro: Last Light - Genesis

Finished this up today. Now this one I liked much better than the 1st one (of course)... got the bad ending. Interested in playing REDUX on the XBOXONE.

Best Buy is offering a $10 gift card with purchase next week. So if you're GCU, $39.99 + $10 gift card. Mighty tempting...
