You won't regret it.

Awesome, welcome to the club. The library isn't that deep yet, but it is mighty fun.
Pick up ZombiU since it's cheap now too. It's still one of my favorite games of the last few years. |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I've been waiting for it to hit $249 before I bite (I could justify it if a store offered a free game or a $50 gift card at its current price).
However, I really want that Mario & Luigi bundle. Are there any deals on the horizon in regards to national chains that will offer the M&L bundle for less than $299? |

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Best Buy has the BF Deal where you get Mario/Luigi Bundle + NintendoLand +Mario/or/Luigi WiiMote for $319.00.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
If we had Meijer here I'd be all over that. I've only seen those stores in the Midwest.
The other deals aren't as enticing. Oh well. I'll be patient. :) |

Though I didn't get to play... Spent about 3 hours charging the controller, then it took almost two hours for the update, and by then, I was ready for sleep. I didn't even get to transferring my Wii content (I have a shit-ton of VC games) to the U, and I know that will be another long pain the ass. Any pointers before I start that process? As far as tooling around with the console itself, I'm not sure how I feel about having to keep looking down at the controller when I have this huge TV in front of me. I'm sure it won't be a problem while playing games, but I just don't like having to look away from my TV to look at a 2nd smaller screen. |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I've found the gamepad to be very convenient. It seems odd at first, but the benefits become apparent very quickly.
|
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Truly. I think the gamepad is awesome and I was very skeptical at first.
|
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Yeah. I thought the gamepad would be clunky and cumbersome, but that's not the case at all. Super-comfortable. My only gripe is battery life. It's not awful, but when I get really into a game like Wind Waker, I find myself having to stop earlier than I'd like when the red light comes on.
Other than ZombiU, I can't think of any games that demand that you quickly alternate between the TV and gamepad screen. For the most part, you can either look when you're ready, or you're exclusively looking at one or the other. |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I set my charging cable for the gamepad next to my couch. No need to stop!
Although I do prefer the pro controller if I can use it. |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Can you use it while it's plugged into the wall?
Thinking of getting the NeedForSpeed Most Wanted (it's kinda' like Burnout Paradise, right)?) - and the U version's supposed to be the best, right? Even though I got and finished Rayman on the PS3, I'm thinking of re-buying and re-playing it on the U when it has a price-drop. Think that's my game of the year, over Tomb Raider. |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Yeah, you can use it while it's plugged up. I finally started using the charging cradle that I didn't realize I had for a year and I love it to death.
I can't imagine playing the latest Rayman on anything but the Wii U. Oh, and I'll say it again...ZombiU, great game, ignore reviews. Best use of the Gamepad as well. |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Thanks, I'll check it out, though I don't usually care for survival-horror games, especially difficult ones - I tend to find them more frustrating than fun. Difficult platformers however; I eat that shit up like candy!
Also, feel free to link the best method/procedures on how to transfer a shit-load of Wii stuff from an SD card and the Wii to the U, and also anything I should know before I start the process. |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I still need to get Rayman. Waiting for that famous Ubisoft price drop.
|
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Any Black Friday deals on Wii U games? I haven't seen too much. Most retailers seem focused on the PS4 and X1.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I thought there were terrible problems with the Nyko replacement battery? Were those ever resolved?
|
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Didn't Nintendo release their own extended battery? Or was that only in Japan?
Edit: It's available in Europe. WTF, Nintendo?? |
Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I think it was Japan only. I've been looking for a replacement for the entire last year.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
The official extended battery isn't cheap, either: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Game-Pad-Hig...ywords=battery
This stuff is what turns me off from Nintendo. This and the Wii+ shit should be cheap. They made compromised system and then expect us to shell out good money to fix it. |

This is the standard Premium Bundle with Nintendo Land + one of the Mario/Luigi controllers. It isn't the Mario/Luigi bundle, at least based on the ad.
