That's why I paid $40. None of my Wiimotes had Motion Plus built in, and I've heard very mixed things about the add-on adapters. I'll admit that I also wanted a black one to match my Wii U, and all my Wiimotes were white.

I picked up a bunch of those Flingsmash sets a few years ago when they were like $8. Now I have a full collection for my Wii U thankfully.

I'm not buying those Mario and Luigi wiimotes because I need them. I'm buying them because I'm a Nintendo fan and they look cool as shit.

Some of the minigames in Nintendo Land require using a Wiimote with Motion Plus, and that's why I bit. I'm not sure if any other Wii U games require it...I haven't come across any, at least.Originally Posted by Supermallet

Everybody sit down... I'm not a fan of the teal or the Mario or Luigi ones. They just look silly, IMO. Most of what MS offered with the 360(why I have 6 or 7 controllers when I only need 1
) was way cooler than any of these.
I do have and like the gold Zelda wiimote.

I've simply ignored any titles that require it, which I believe included Skyward Sword.Originally Posted by Adam Tyner

The best way to play Pikmin 3 is with wiimote and nunchuk.
#1559
Anybody have an issue where the gamepad image or colors get all distorted? We're playing Lego City Undercover on our launch Wii U and the gamepad color scheme is all messed up. Is there a setting I can play around with or is this going to be a warranty issue?

Nah. The minimap grew on me. Much easier to multitask the three characters, especially on the challenge levels. I couldn't imagine getting a Platinum with the Wiimote.Originally Posted by The Questyen

I've been spending a lot of time with my Wii U lately.
I had a blast with Rayman Legends, which might be the most singularly perfect platformer I've ever played. As much as I loved Rayman Origins, this followup completely blows it out of the water, and Legends' use of the gamepad is probably my favorite of any single player Wii U game I own. (Legends also inspired me to finally finish Origins; I got stuck on the very last level a couple years ago.)
I never owned Wind Waker on the GameCube, but I'm really glad I had a chance to catch up with it on the Wii U. I'm still fairly early in it, but I can't get over how masterfully designed the dungeons are, and I really like its artistic style. Sometimes I get in the habit of rushing through a game so I can tear into the next one, but this is one where I really want to linger and explore.
I have to admit to giving up on The Wonderful 101. It's possible I might give it another shot, but I'm on the sixth set of missions now, and I figure if I haven't had much fun 2/3rds of the way through the game, my opinion's probably not gonna change in the last third. I didn't have the trouble some people have with making the shapes -- at least not once I stopped doing that on the gamepad and started using the right thumbstick instead -- but a lot of the little puzzles felt frustratingly oblique to me, and those endless encounters where enemies have 295 lifebars were tedious beyond all description. I like the game when it's more of a brawler where I can choose between all these different weapons, but the good didn't outweigh the bad for me.
Oh, and I found that I preferred the gamepad for Pikmin 3, although it definitely did take me a little while to get the hang of it.

That is a problem with Lego City. Press the home button and then press it again and things should look fine.

Wii install base to X1 install base: 100m to 0.
I'm shocked games for a system that isn't out yet aren't selling as well as games on a system you can actually play.

Nintendo's estimating that they'll move 8.5 million Wii U consoles in the next 6 months, so they must be very, very upbeat about their upcoming release slate. (They sold 460,000 Wii Us in the 6 months prior, so they're expecting a twenty-fold-ish increase in sales between October and the end of March.) The biggest surprise in their financials they just announced was they cite advertising as a significant part of their operating loss. Advertising? Where?
In every market other than North America and Japan -- the rest of Asia, the entirety of Europe, South America, and Australia -- Nintendo sold fewer than 10,000 Wii Us over the past 6 months. Not even 10,000 consoles in 6 months across the vast majority of the world. That's unreal.
Again, my frustration is just that Nintendo has created a wonderful console that has some tremendous games in stores now and even more alluring ones on the horizon, but they're suffering from some astonishingly poor leadership. I want to see the Wii U succeed, and I'm not sure how capable their current leadership is of getting there.

Well they have a right to be optimistic, the sales went from flatline to nipping at the Xbox 360's heels (globally) since the price cut and bundles. Something like 66k sold (Wii U) vs 82k (360) during the last week, though the 3DS (371k) and PS3 (166k) are still king.
I still don't think they'll hit anywhere near 5m though, unless they mean 5m total. That's do-able (it's currently at 3.75m)

So, the Wii U which came out last year? was nipping at the heels for sales of a 8 year old console?
#1573
They could get those sales numbers if they have a massive price drop.

Apparently since the Xbox 360 has a "huge library" it makes that argument invalid in this thread.Originally Posted by Music

There is always a 12-24 month period where the old consoles sell as well as, if not better than the new ones. Price and library are the selling points.
