re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
That's not good to hear. How far from the console were you? I haven't run across any latency using the gamepad with BO2 yet. I'm using it from only 7-8 feet from the console.
|
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Probably 7-8 feet as well, no obstructions in the way. Hasn't happen with anything else, and I've played a lot of Mario on Remote Play. I don't know if it's something in the AC3 code that was interfering with its ability to stream flawlessly to the GamePad, or if the system will have trouble streaming graphically high end games. I hope it's the former, because the latter could really hurt the system in the long run.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
My guess would be that it's the game. If BO2 runs fine (both in single player and multi with one on the pad and another on the TV), the system should be able to handle AC3 as well.

WaveRace, ED, F-Zero, & BG&E may not sell like a Mario, but a stable of games like that will convince Wii haters to return.
Also, I'd imagine any of the 4 games I mentioned have a better shot at success over Bayonetta 2. Not sure where you are trying to go with this. Some of the games mentioned were "good", but in no way did they help build Nintendo. Mario, Zelda, etc did. Ya know, from the NES days, when Nintendo launched a console. Not the GameCube. That wasn't their first console....unless you didn't know. Because that's all you keep talking about. Funny how you ignored Pikmin which was a Gamecube title that would go perfectly with your "built the company" comment - which is coming out next year. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I just discovered an awesome non wii u use for the tablet controller. While playing Oblivion on my ps3, i enable the web browser on the gamepad and pull up the wiki guide. So much better than walking back and forth to the computer!

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I will say, ZombiU does make it seem like the Wii U was custom made for Fatal Frame. And Condemned 3 (c'mon Sega, please?)

Eternal Darkness is a GameCube title (not sure how that "built the company" - that also didn't sell very well). Wave Race was a N64 (and IIRC, somewhat early GameCube title) that also wasn't a huge seller aside from the fact it was a launch title for N64 when there wasn't much of a selection. Beyond Good and Evil was a bomb.

I didn't list Pikmin because it's already on its way. It's also a poor performer yet here we are with 3 in the franchise. It's also 50% of the reason why *I* personally, bought the machine. My point is that a stable of games(even non AAA selling) is a lot more attractive to *core* gamers than just a Mario & Zelda machine. I'm not sure how that's even debatable, but please continue... :) |

I keep forgetting to get on with the purpose of adding people. For shame. Perhaps tonight I will devote to some Wii U shenanigans. Also, some ZombieU.

Picked this up awhile ago and finally set it up. My fiance played it for about 12 hours with friends, she usually hates video games. Worth the money so far, hope they keep supporting it and a few decent 3rd party games come out. My username = randomgarbage.

I rather see a new exciting IP. Frankly I'm a little tired of Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong. Skylanders comes to mind.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I'd love to see a new Wave Race on 3DS. Hey, one can dream...

Also I think it's Ultimaton, not Ultimation. Also, I don't get the love for Skylanders. Those games are boring as hell. I don't have kids, so maybe I'm missing something, but I'd rather play the Lego games than Skylanders. |

Not every game has to sell like Mario to be successful. Success can come in various ways. Like I said, 50% of the reason I bought a WiiU was for Pikmin which falls into your "not a game gamers want because it doesn't sell like Zelda" criteria. Who's to say there aren't people out there that would be swayed by F-Zero? Eternal Darkness? These are the types of games that aren't system sellers, but with 2-3 of them will absolutely sway a purchase Nintendo's way. Also ED and BG&E are the video game equivalent of Office Space or Big Lebowski. They may have tanked out of the gate but built strong followings down the line. There's no telling what sequels to those two would do. I was a huge Zelda fan up to Wind Waker, but after TP and Skyward Sword, I'm done. So yeah, mark me down for a half dozen "lesser" games over another stale entry in a tired franchise. |
re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Relying on me is NEVER a wise move. :D

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Question: does anyone notice a slight rattle on the right-hand side of the gamepad when you move it around in various angles (flip it upside down, turn it over left-to-right, etc.)? Almost like something isn't quite bolted down properly?

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
I thought the same thing at first. It is the face buttons. Hold them and shake it around.

re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo
Got the Wii U for a week and I have to say I'm not very happy with what Nintendo did... so far... <still hoping for patches>
Biggest disappointment: no achievement/trophy... I don't understand why and it's a sad sad thing they didn't put that in. Even Sony saw the value of MS's achievement system. I'm hoping for a patch, let there be some kind of "accomplishment" list... Another disappointment: Wii U Pro controllers... $50? Okay, I understand, it's a console accessory, it can be expensive, I'm not complaining. What's disappointing is that it doesn't work on most games, not even Mario U! You got to be kidding me, the whole purpose of purchasing something cool looking (like an Xbox controller) Pro controller is to use it! I ended up using old Wiimotes for Mario U multi-player. I know the back of the game case tells you the controller compatibilities, but Sega Racing Transformed supports it (not mentioned on the back of the game case though). |
