Borderlands 2 ...which character start off with and why?

i think i am going Salvador (Gunzerker) this time. I started with soldier last time and had a blast, i think i want a different experience to start off with this time around and i love guns and dual-weilding sounds bad-assed!

Probably Axton... I think he's the guy who can shoot a long range nuke? If so, I want that guy.

Re: Borderlands 2 ...which character start off with and why?

In co-op, I'm going Axton since my one friend wants to play as the gunzerker, and another wants to bw the siren. I found the turret really valuable in the first for co-op at lower levels.

Re: Borderlands 2 ...which character start off with and why?

This is a tough call and deserves its own thread. I want to try Zero but feel myself being pulled towards the Gunzerker...
Maybe I'll choose 1 for co-op & one for my individual campaign.

It's not a long range nuke. It's a mini-nuke in the area where you toss your turret out.

As for me, I'm going Axton. I did the tank dude last game. Don't remember his name. The Gunzerker doesn't seem to be much of an improvement.

I'll probably play the siren, but if the assassin plays as much like the old siren as he seems to, I might make an early switch.

Re: Borderlands 2 ...which character start off with and why?

I'm going with two at the same time....Maya and Salvador

I really like the coop aspect of the game and having both choices will allow me to pick the right character based on the others. Lets not forget they have incorporated extra points and scores using combos from different characters.

I'm picking up the game tomorrow. Not sure what to go with, but after playing a soldier for 18 months, I think I want to try something else. Maybe a Ginzerker or Siren. I'd like more opinions from you guys to help me decide.

Re: Borderlands 2 ...which character start off with and why?

My main, co-op, player will be Maya because that is the one left to be by my group of friends. I'll try to max level all of the characters eventually.

i'm going Zero to start. I think the Gunzerker will be second, though i want to see some of the people in action.

I think I'll do a solo with a Gunzerker and co-op with Zero.

Re: Borderlands 2 ...which character start off with and why?

the assassin seems to fit my playstyle from #1 the most. i was the berserker and liked to use pistols and sniper rifles the most.

probably go with zer0

What are the preferred guns for each class in this one (is it just skill based reasons to care?)

Re: Borderlands 2 ...which character start off with and why?

Maya

I hate slow lumbering characters which the guys tend to be so I always play female when given a choice and the reason I played as Lilith in the first game. But like chess said, if Zero plays more like Lilith I may have to switch depending on Maya's skills. However, I'm not a melee person (except in Halo ) and never really used melee that much with Lilith.

Also, my daughter's name is Maya so that's... uh something.

is Salvador and was Berzerker a lumbering character? and is there a distinct difference in speed of characters in terms of running? if that is the case, i'll probably do Axton since i liked Soldier last time.

I just started a Gunzerker. He's slow as hell.

Lilith had the phasewalk/run which makes a huge difference. It's been so long since I played the beginning of the game that I don't recall if there is an initial difference between the four classes.

I went with Axton, because he's the sexiest.

Re: Borderlands 2 ...which character start off with and why?

I went with Axton too, and I'm happy with him so far. Since there are achievements/trophies tied to getting each character to level 5 again, I had been thinking of doing that soon after starting to see which one I like best, and then continuing on from that point.

I ended up sticking with Axton though, and I don't want to start over just yet.

When properly perked, Lileth was absurdly overpowered, but she was a blast to play.

My favorite way to perk her was to set her up so she could constantly be in and out of phase and healing herself. You had the auto refresh when she killed an enemy along with the ugraded damage for a punch during phase and the elemental explosion coming out of phase.

I would run into a group of enemies in phase, find the weakest enemy and smack them with an instant kill, which would in turn instantly recharge my phase. I'd repeat that process multiple times, each time doing explosive and elemental damage to all surrounding enemies.

If you played her with a similar style, Zero might make sense in that it looks like you can leave a decoy, which is ultimately explosive and attracts enemies. Then and you can find an enemy to slice with your sword for a quick kill, which instantly recharges your decoy and you can leave another one.

Once you get the decoy (which you should by now) it's a LOT easier. Also sniping is helpful, if you can find a sniper rifle that is. Shoot, go invisible if you need to, snipe again, rinse, repeat, etc. Got my Zero up to 8 so far...
