Re: Crusader Kings II
Another big tip for the guy playing leon.
You need to strike hard and fast...wait till your muslim enemies have depleted their levies, or if they are fighting amongst themselves..that is when you strike!
If you get in serious trouble..I think you can vassalize yourself to the HRE

Re: Crusader Kings II
Interesting. Ya, what happened to me was that one of my brothers also in the area of Spain got attacked by one of the Muslims to the south. He callied in his allies which I agreed to and we crushed the guy directly to the south of us, My brother fought off them in his lands and I marched on the Muslim's land and crushed his two largest cities while he was stuck trying to invade. The problem was after we successfully won that war, the rest of the Muslim leaders all declared a holy war on us and got smashed.
I hadn't considered vassalizing to HRE

Galicia, Leon and Castille are all intermarried (Siblings?) so you can expand your lands pretty quick with assisnations.

Re: Crusader Kings II
Yes, they are siblings. I lucked out because the eldest brother died of natural causes at 26 and I was his heir. But ya, if I hadn't got wrecked by the Muslims, my goal was to assassinate my younger brother once I got the gold to do it.

Re: Crusader Kings II
So I was off Kicking Muslim's asses in the Iberian Peninsula, my whore wife (Mathilda of Tuscany) decided to have a affair with the Holy Roman Emperor. Well they popped out a kid. This is just business, I ain't mad.
I just killed their child, as he would otherwise have claims on my children's lands. The Cheating wife did end up giving me a ton of kids though...so no hard feelings!

After paying full price a week ago.
That's okay, I don't mind paying full price for titles from Devs/Publishers like Paradox.
Loving the game so far, haven't had much time to play yet though. I haven't abandoned my own thread!

Even though I never really got the hang of the demo, I decided to take a chance on this and bought the game. I'm really enjoying it, though I still feel like I'm only scratching the surface. I feel like I just bought a high-performance sports car and can't figure out how to take it out of second gear.
I started my game as the Count of Thomond in Ireland. Two generations later, I've managed to unify Ireland under my rule. Unfortunately, the queen who unified Ireland just died and my new heir is a hunchbacked woman with her own female heir (her sister), so my vassals are starting at something like -60 favoribility toward me even before you factor in all the miscellaneous plusses and minuses. I'm hoping I can keep things unified long enough for the next generation to come to power (hopefully as a non-hunchbacked male). From there, it's time to expand to Britain.
A gameplay question: England is unified into a Kingdom right now. If I lay a claim to a particular county and declare war, is that going to bring the entire Kingdom down on me? I'm guessing a lot will depend on how the King of England feels about that particular vassal, and if I go after a vassal who the King doesn't particularly like, he won't intervene. Correct?

(Sorry I can't answer your question, I'm having a hard enough time maintaining what I've got without invading a county outside my realm.)

You are noticing how important good genes/education is, do you have other heirs with better stats. Also remember to try and get content traits in your vassals +50 approval. See why they are so upset I'm guessing vassals want the duchies etc.
Your England question, u can't just war against the county because they are independant. You have to declare war against the country. Better idea is try a find duke claimants invite them to your court, give them some land, and press their claims, that way you get 2-4 counties

My current king's son/heir actually has a claim to England, so I'm probably going to just go for broke and see if I can take over the whole country. England is somewhat fractured right now with some upstart dukes playing out their own version of the War of the Roses, so I'm hoping to take advantage of that chaos to crush everyone under my thumb.
Of course, with my luck, once I put Junior on the throne of England, he'll fuck things up and wind up getting himself killed before I can pass on Ireland and Scotland to him. I've had that happen a few times -- I get my heir into a promising marriage, then either he dies before he becomes my PC or his wife dies before she can give him a kid.
