Re: Halo 4
Wow, I had no idea they'd actually limit the LE. I was planning on using Best Buy credit on it, but now I guess I'll just keep my $84.99 New Egg pre-order instead. I hadn't decided if there was really $40 of added value in there for me (not much into multi player maps), but now that it's apparently rare somehow it's more desirable to me. :)

Re: Halo 4
Frys.com and DeepDiscount.com still show preorders available.

DeepDiscount.com is not. I'm glad Microsoft wised up, removed the head out of their ass and actually made the limited edition, you know, limited. Now here's hoping Amazon doesn't try to fuck me out of my order despite me placing it back in May! |

Re: Halo 4
David Fincher Producing Halo 4 Launch Trailer
Fight Club director will help “deliver an emotionally-charged look” at Master Chief. David Fincher and Tim Miller will assist with Halo 4’s launch trailer. As announced today, Fincher -- director of Fight Club, The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and many more -- will serve as executive producer, while Tim Miller (effects lead on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) will be the trailer’s director. According to Microsoft, “Fincher and Miller will help deliver an emotionally-charged look at the backstory of Halo’s iconic hero, the Master Chief.” The trailer, called Scanned, looks at the backstory of Chief and introduces “the new threat” he will encounter in Halo 4. Scanned was filmed in Prague and will run for two minutes. It’s referred to by Fincher as “hybridized live-action/CGI “ and will be premiered on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on October 18th. You’ll be able to find it right here on IGN shortly afterward. For now, Microsoft has released a single still from the trailer: http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/...0w-610x343.jpg “Halo is one of the most iconic sci-fi universes, with a depth that allows for amazingly cinematic and emotionally riveting stories,” Miller said. “The chance to tell a story that explores never-before-seen facets of Master Chief’s journey is an honor. Our goal is to deliver a blockbuster, Hollywood-quality trailer that raises the bar for the award-winning legacy of live-action Halo storytelling and gets fans stoked for the return of Master Chief.” Scanned follows the other recent Halo live action series, Forward Unto Dawn. Halo 4, meanwhile, will hit Xbox 360 on November 6th. For an idea of what you can expect from Chief’s journey, read our hands-on impressions of the campaign. Re: Halo 4
The Limited Edition is back up for pre-order on Amazon. I have no idea how long it's going to last for.

Re: Halo 4
Thanks to Kenshiro for letting me know this last night. Me and friend were playing Borderlands 2 last night and he jumped in the party to ask if we were getting Halo 4. The three of us have played together in the past Halos and I said yes but I didn't get the Limited in time. He let me know Amazon had it back up and that was 11PM Central. They still had it showing and I did the pre-order. I did not search if others had it.
Update - Not sure how long it last or how many they had but there is no more as of 4PM central. I wouldn't be surprised they went pretty fast when word spread they had some. |

I only know that as my co-worker purchased both the Halo 4 console and a copy of the Limited Edition set off Amazon. He's going to keep the console (as his first generation is on its last legs) and LE for himself while he gives the standard edition game to his brother. |
Re: Halo 4
Yep, that's standard, at least for Microsoft.
Last year I bought both the console and LE of Gears 3, to have "everything". I ended with two copies, that was fine, since that was the game that I played for the next 9 months, so each copy was in one of my consoles. |
Re: Halo 4
I was the hoping the console may have been loaded with some other goodies.

Me too...and I was seriouslly looking at it since mine has been fixed (heat sink issue) three times but backed off because it had the normal game and justfeel the new systems are so close. No doubt I think it's the best looking one to date. |

Re: Halo 4
Anybody been watching the Forward Unto Dawn web series? I don't know jack squat about Halo but found the series interesting so far. Shame it's only five episodes. It has some excellent production values.

I'm waiting for the LE to watch the whole thing. My friends have been praising it as well.

Re: Halo 4
If they are anything like MW3 codes they are single use codes that get input into Dew XP and they give you double XP in multiplayer.
|
Re: Halo 4
Yep. Singe use. Size of Dew/Diritos determines the number of double xp matches you get.
Link is in post #129. :D |

Halo 4 Map Packs: Details, Release Dates
War Games Map Pass offers access to three map packs over five months. 343 has announced downloadable content details for Halo 4. Three map packs will be available including three maps each and are set to arrive between December 2012 and April 2013. Players will have the option of purchasing a Halo 4 War Games Map Pass for $24.99 (2,000 Microsoft Points) that will offer access to the packs at a 15% discount as well as a unique in-game Falcon emblem. The Map Pass is included for free with the Halo 4 Limited Edition, and two unique in-game helmets (Scanner and Strider) will be offered when the Pass is purchased separately. The Crimson Map Pack will be released in December 2012 and includes three maps: Wreckage, Harvest and Shatter. According to 343, players will “witness the chaos of a clash of civilizations” in Wreckage and see a “blend of claustrophobic spaces and dangerous exposures.” Players will also “venture into the human colony environs of Harvest” and “explore a human foray on an alien moon in Shatter.” The Majestic Map Pack, due in February 2013, includes Landfall, Monolith and Skyline. As 343 describes, “Landfall’s emphasis is on infantry battles against a glittering ocean on a distant world, while Monolith exposes you to the naked vacuum of space -- and the firepower of opposing teams. Skyline’s distinctly industrial feel provides new challenges in somewhat familiar, but occasionally confined spaces.” Finally, the Castle Map Pack is scheduled for April 2013 and offers Daybreak, Outcast and Perdition. “Daybreak is set in a military facility against the backdrop of an idyllic mountain range,” 343 says, “while Outcast plunges you into the warrens, canyons and arches of an alien edifice. Perdition takes players into the heart of an urban sprawl, with tactical speed and situational awareness its key features.” IGN.com |

Halo 4: $59.99
Halo 4 War Games Map Pass: $24.99 --- Total: $84.98 Yeah, I'm glad I bit the bullet and ordered the LE the moment it went online. For $15 more, it was worth it to get the casing and other various bonus materials... and it's free after all of the gift cards and promotions I've saved up from past Amazon ordering I've made. :) |
