The email read
I thought it was a phishing email and website at first. Filled out my info and sure enough, a crystal fire bone Hot Dog with a green bone came in the mail. I haven't won anything through the blippar app.

Today's mail brought a Purple and Red Fire Bone Hotdog figure. That's 2 of the 3 I won early in the process doing the phone in method. Those are really cool looking!

That's what I thought too so it was a surprise when those were in the mailbox. Since I won 3 days in a row I kind of wondered why the 3rd one wasn't there as well but figure it'll show up next week.

I think Decker won the first day I won one of these so I'm surprised his hasn't arrived - but I live ~70 miles from Memphis which I think is the distribution center for shipping these.

Our third Firebone Hot Dog win arrived today. Another Red one.

According to USPS tracking info it came out of (or through) Fishers, IN (part of Indianapolis) which blows my Memphis distribution center supposition.

I got a email from GameStop today announcing 2 "GameStop Exclusive Eon's Elite Skylanders" - Spyro and Chop Chop.

Spyro is available for pre-order at $24.99 plus tax and shipping and comes out 11/1/14.

According to the blurb "These limited edition Skylanders are decorated in shiny metallic armor and are 3x more powerful in-game. The Eon's Elite Skylanders come in a special 3D lenticular diorama collector display case. "

IMHO the price is kind of high. I couldn't bring myself to drop ~$31 (with tax/shipping) on this considering it *should* be in the stores at some time...

Honestly, I think we're out now. My son doesn't seem interested in Skylanders any more and I can't rightly collect figures and play it without him. He hasn't even opened some of the more recent figures I've gotten him.
Shame since it was fun to hunt and collect figures with him when he was into it. Now it's all Minecraft and I don't enjoy that at all (though admittedly it's a LOT cheaper for me).

It was also mentioned in the email from GameStop starting 10/5/14-10/11/14 (while supplies last) you could bring in an old portal and get a Punch Pop Fizz character.

Until he starts asking for t-shirts, plushes and rubber Minecraft swords. I'm going to get the starter pack and a couple of figures as I want to play the game but will likely wait on getting more figures until far down the road. I'll likely grab more when there is a combined deal at Best Buy plus the GCU discount on each figure.

I think we're in the same boat. I almost didn't pick up Swap Force but went for it as my grandson really liked, and played the heck out of, the first 2 games. We've not opened at least half the Swap Force figures and he's not been playing any of the Skylanders games. It's been a month or more since I last saw him play any of the Skylanders games and longer than that since he asked me to play with him. I think he's about half-way through Swap Force. By this time he'd finished the first two and was playing from the start again. He now spends more time playing with the figures doing floor battles than playing the games. He, too, is into Minecraft, a game I just don't "get" and I'm a long time gamer. He'll spend *hours* watching youtube videos of other people "playing" the "game" - something else I just don't get. The bad part is he sees these new figures and gets excited about them.

I've lost the collector's urge for Trap Team. If I get it, it'll be down the road. With Smash Bros and other games coming out, my kids have moved on... and I should too.

Trap Team already looks to be out-of-control... Here are some of the initial offerings currently available at Amazon (sorry 'bout the *huge* images but it's all I could find):

Of course you have to chose either the "Regular" starter pack *or* the "Dark" starter pack @ either $74.96 or $99.96.

That's ~$210 for figures/accessories (assuming you don't do the 3 packs) *plus* a starter. Around $300 to start and we *know* this is just the tip of the iceberg!

I'm already feeling overwhelmed and it's not even out yet! The game looks kinda cool but the amount of stuff to buy is outrageous! I have a pre-order for Gearshift but I may cancel as this is just too much!

You know that Activision and Toys for Bob are already counting the money with as much stuff as they are trying to sell us here. It is absolutely an overwhelming amount of figures and other nonsense just getting started with this next go around and with my son being born within the next few days it likely spells the end to most of our future Skylander endeavors.

Congrats, man! If you have any baby questions, you know I'm the guy to ask.

I do think between Skylanders and Disney Infinity, they've gone to the well too often. I don't think the latest round of figures sold nearly as well. I found rare figures like Quick Draw and the soccer Countdown just sitting on shelves for weeks. As I said, I think my son and I are either out or will at least wait a while before getting this and our days of hoarding figures are over. He had friends over last week and instead of playing Skylanders with them, he took out his toy cash register and played "Store" buying and selling unopened figures. :lol:

The traps look kinda crappy, I'm not really motivated by those, but the figures actually look pretty good. If I do go in this time, I'm definitely going to be pickier about which ones we get and not be so "gotta catch 'em all" since we have used maybe only half of the figures, and there's just fatigue after a while.

I'm getting Infinity 2.0 next week (can't resist the addition of Marvel figs), but I've officially decided to hold off until the holidays for Skylanders. It's just too much, bordering on overkill. I have a feeling they're going to be very disappointed in sales this time around, and we're going to see a lot of promotions and discounts to free up shelf space
