I can't wait to get my hands on those boxes! I already have all of those figures except Lightning Rod series 2. Whoopty freaking doo on this wave! They better surprise us with at least one new Giant.

So I'm going to have to pay $25 just to get Hot Dog? Are you kidding me?

....alright.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

I just stopped by Target and saw they are selling the Target-exclusive bundle of the three current Light Core figures for $19.99 ($10 off regular price) this week only. While the Light Core Eruptor and Drobot are exceptionally lame, since I like the LC Prism Break so much, I might just go and pick up the set. Not sure yet.

I'm in for that set. I don't mind getting Zap (s2) to get Hot Dog.

^Ditto. The catapult looks cool and the kids *really* want Hot Dog so...

I'd almost do it were it not for the fact that the Light Core figures do not have the extra abilities of the other reposed figures. The only one the kids are interested in obtaining is LC Prism Break and I just can't justify the extra $$ for the other two even though it would only be ~$4 each over the price of the single LC Prism Break.

They have some sort of special "Light Core" ability though, as I understand it...

According to a wikia, they do have a special light core ability:

LightCore Skylanders are playable characters in Skylanders: Giants. These characters light up without batteries when placed near the Portal of Power. They have the ability to defeat all surrounding enemies when placed in the game. LightCore Skylanders also have different poses from their regular model.

So is anyone else confused as to why it's called the scorpion striker battle pack when there is no scorpion? I was thinking the catapult was going to be a scorpion...

A lot of the figures are wave 1 / wave 2 figures. So far the only wave 3 figures for the 23rd release are the following reposes:

Lightning Rod
Eruptor
Cynder
Stealth Elf
Prism Break

I hope they get some 3 packs so I don't have to buy all singles. Hopefully they will be easy to find since they're all reposes that weren't in adv packs.

Edit: I wish I found this before I bought one on ebay but apparently zavvi.com has the series 1 Zap in stock for shipping. It's about ~$9.64 shipped to the US after currency conversion. I've bought games from them before but their inventory doesn't seem very accurate. It's letting me add a ton of them into my cart...

Well you would think there will also be a new Giant that day too, but yeah the regular characters aren't anything to get excited about.

I am still hoping that tru gets in some lightcores and giants before the 23rd. It's kind of funny that darkspyro gets their skylander info from CAG.

How is Giants compared to the original game?
I have Skylanders on the Wii but santa is bring the kids (really, me) a Wii U. Do i assume correctly that our skylanders will work fine with the Wii U version of the game? I assuming there is a Wii U version of Giants. Does Giants require a new portal of power?

Giants is a better game than the original. All the original figures will work in Giants. There is only a starter pack available for the Wii U. There is no portal owners pack since the original was not released for the Wii U. I do not know if the Wii portal works with the Wii U.

Found Hot Head and Flashwing at the Target we shopped at today.

I'm only missing Fright Rider now.

They also had the Lightcore Triple packs (about 7 of them) but I couldn't bring myself to get one.

Fright Rider, Terrafin and Slam Bam seem to be the harder to find figures in my area.

Went to Walmart today and they just happened to have one Fright Rider.

I'm done for now.

Just have the unreleased ones left now.

Looks like wave 3 is releasing tomorrow morning at Toys R Us. It appears that they will not be releasing a new giant which sucks.http://i425.photobucket.com/albums/p...5EE332500B.jpg

If you missed the last few TRU sales, Target has a b2g1f deal going on with skylanders. I didn't notice it in the ad, but it was there when I went today, so I picked up several giants.

Are you guys who are avoiding the three packs doing so because they only contain one new figure?

This exactly. I'm only purchasing the *new* Giants and *new* Series 2 figures. Absolutely *no* reposed or Light Core unless they come with something else and it's unavoidable. For example, the Starter Package (with a reposed Cynder), "Battle Pack" #1 (only way to get a Dragonfire Cannon - comes with a reposed Chop Chop), and the upcoming "Battle Pack" #2 (only way to get a Scorpion Striker - comes with a reposed Zap). Even so, if they would release the "battle" items individually I'd just wait and get the singles even though the per-figure average would be a bit more.

Considering the prices of the Series 2 figures, I have *zero* interest in "Wow Pow" and path changing abilities of the reposed figures or the kill-everything-on-the-screen single time use ability of the Light Core figures. If these were still priced at the original ~$8 of the Series 1 figures I *might* pick up a few but it's doubtful. We purchased *every* figure for the first game with a few duplicates of favorites (to use different upgrade paths), the Legendaries, and a few re/non-painted variants. This time out it's only Giants, the 8 *new* Series 2 figures, the TRU Legendary exclusives (because they have different stats), and the Target "Granite Crusher" (different stats and looks cool). The kids were put on notice that neither I nor Santa (gave him a serious talking to about this one) would have any reposed or Light Core figures for Christmas. They'll have to use allowance (or bribery/begging of the Great Grandparents) if they want those figures.

There have been reports that wave 3 has shown up at other stores as well. Also TRU raised their skylander prices...

If wave 3 doesn't have any new figures then I will pass.

Krayzie 12-21-12 09:41 AM

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Single figures are now $10.99 at TRU. The 3 packs and giants are on sale this week so I don't know if they're going up as well.

The only "new" figure is lightcore shroomboom. Hot Dog isn't out until the battlepack and there have been no signs of new giants yet.
