Oh yeah, Heroic challenges. You can ignore them, but they really do beef up the character's stats.

I would get the 3 pack from the last game of Camo, Warnado and Ignitor. Those were a real pain in the ass to find when they first come out and now I see a ton of that 3 pack available. I think they are all some cool figures though and are cool as well in the game.

Is Flashwing out? That one's pretty cool.

Yeah. She's everywhere and very cool looking.

Kinda lost me there.

Sorry... was at work and trying to be somewhat brief but still get the idea across. Here are the full details:

Series 1 characters can *not* switch upgrade trees/paths. If you decide you chose the "incorrect" path (or would rather use the other) you must "reset" the character back to "0" (both level and skill path) and start over. Somewhat a pain if you've leveled a character up to 10. Many people would purchase 2 of each character and use one of each for the different skill trees. That way you "switch" simply by changing the character on the portal. The "reposed" Series 2 characters (Series 1 with different poses) have the ability to switch the upgrade tree/path by visiting the in-game store *without* having to reset the character. It's a cool feature but one I feel was done to encourage those of us with full collections of Series 1 figures to purchase the Series 2 variants. IMHO if you *already own* a set of Series 1 figures it's actually better to simply purchase doubles of your favorite characters and send them up the ability tree not chosen for the first. This way you have *two* fully powered characters to use. If one "gets tired" or close to it simply pull it off and put the other one on the portal. Same character with slightly different abilities.

So... *New* Series 2 characters: They do *not* have the ability to switch upgrade path/tree at all. You would need 2 of each, just as you would with Series 1 characters, to simulate the ability. This applies to both the Giants *and* the 8 new Series 2 characters.

You do not need all the "Giants". One is sufficient to open all areas that need a Giant to access. You *do* need at least 1 character of *each element* to open "locked" areas. While the new Series 2 characters are pretty cool looking you would get more "bang-for-the-buck" by purchasing the "reposed" Series 2 characters for their upgrade path/tree switching ability.

TRU = Toys 'R Us. If there's a store in your area they are a good place to go looking for figures as they are currently having a "Buy 1 Get 50% off a 2nd figure" sale. This also applies to the game so you could buy the original game and get Giants for half price (or vice versa - depends on which is currently less expensive).

Yep... it's a shame she's not a Lightcore character. She'd look even better if she lit up on the portal.

I commented earlier in this thread that if any character were made specifically for lightcore then this would be the one. They dropped the ball on this one.

They dropped the ball on every light core figure so far except Prism Break.

Don't think anyone has mentioned it here yet, but all Skylander things at TRU are Buy 1 Get one 50% off right now. That's probably the best deal for Skylanders Giants figures we've seen yet. Sale through Saturday, but unfortunately no Wave 3 stuff yet.

p.s. Legendary Series 2 Stealth Elf looks badass.

:D Beat ya to it by a bit... but these comments were kind of burried in lengthy explanations.

Part of me wishes I'd not purchased what I did during B1G1 40% off sales but had I waited what I wanted would have been OOS. At least that's what I've been telling myself to feel better about those purchases...

I have 2 of those Legendary Stealth Elf's on the way... of course purchased last week during a B1G1 40% off sale. Man I wish there was a TRU close to me, it shure would be easier...

Maybe you guys can help me. I picked up the game tonight and I noticed when I connected the portal of power via usb to my xbox I got interference on my tv. I tried connecting the usb in the front and back and still the same problem. I can see faint scan lines. Do I have a defective portal?

Decker 12-05-12 10:06 PM

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

I've never seen that with either of my two Xboxes and either of my two portals. Is your 360 connected via HDMI cable?

Maybe you should call (800) 4MY XBOX and ask them about that.

No its an older box that doesn't have HDMI. I am using component cables. If the portal is too close to the Xbox it happens. Then I placed it on my floor(tiles) about 6ft away same thing. Then I placed the portal on my wooden tv dinner table and it was fine.

I would just take it back to the store and exchange it. Hopefully that fixes the issue.

Will they just exchange the portal or do I have to pack everything up again?

Called GS and they want me to bring it all back.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Ok so thanks to those who helped clear me up on this game. I got all the elements to start out.

1. ***Legendary*** Bouncer-Tech
2. Crusher-Earth
3. Double Trouble 2-Magic
4. Cynder-Undead
5. Tree-Rex-Life
6. Eruptor(LC)-Fire
7. Jet-Vac-Air
8. Slam Bam-Water

Any thoughts? I really like that Prisim Break LC dammit it is like crack.

Edited for #1

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

It doesn't really matter which figures you pick as the game isn't hard enough to where you have to buy the most powerful characters from each element. It all comes down to which characters you like. Hell you could use one character to beat the entire game and just switch characters when you need a different element to open up a new area.

So how long before you start buying all the figures? I told myself I was only going to get the 8 unreleased figures from the first set but I ended up buying all of them. I also ended up buying all of the new figures that are out...

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Man, I went to TRU today and the only three pack they had was the one with chopchop, shroomboom and the golden cannon. And they had a ton of them. Does that one just suck or something? That's the second TRU I've been to where that's all that's left (the Bee Giant seems to be another shelfwarmer).

On the original game I started out with plans to get only 1 of each element to unlock the areas. I'd gone so far as to plan out the expansion packs into the equation so as to limit elemental duplication. We now own at least 1 of every "standard" Series 1 figure, the Legendaries, and a "special" (the Red Drill Sergeant). Because of the recent Amazon LD sales of $3 each we now own duplicates of about a dozen figures.

I've put my foot down on the Giants and have said I'll only purchase the 16 new-to-Giants characters and the Legendaries, absolutely *no* reposed or Lightcore figures. So far I've held to that except for the reposed figures in the starter and the Cannon packs as there is no choice in the matter with those two.

Same here... with the exception of the GitD Sonic Boom, my only forced repeats were Chop Chop and Cynder due to inclusions in packs.

I only have 4 giants (magic, water, fire, and undead) and 3 singles (undead, fire, and rock) left to get.

I'm considering the legendaries... but not the reposed or light core characters.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

I'm only giving in a little more than the ones you two (Chop Chop in the cannon pack and Cynder with the new game set) with the Amazon-Exclusive Golden Flameslinger and TRU Legendary Stealth Elf. Besides that, I'm being a wall.

Oh wait, I guess I also ended up with reposed Sonic Boom and Stump Smash in a pack with Sprocket. But there was some reason I did that, I think. Anyway, besides that, I'm being a wall. Though light core Prism Break is pretty sweet.

Question. When playing local player co-op does it alter the difficulty ie more enemies and what not?

Not that I've noticed. Co-op can make it a bit easier since there are 2 people to take out the baddies.
