Boy, if they could develop tech that could somehow realize what you've put together for LEGOs or MEGA BLOXs and translate that to an in-game representation...that would really be something.

Mega blox is such a shitty product. My kid loves legos but he had been dying to get a Halo banshee that is made by Mega blox. He bought it and was completely frustrated with the quality. Every MB toy he has ever bought (luckily there haven't been many) has been a pile of crap compared to Legos.

Yeah, I mentioned that awhile back. A LEGO game where you build the figures first would kick ass. Even if it couldn't be intricate enough to see what you make, they could have a unique base with the chip in it for each LEGO kit.

Thanks for the heads up on this as this site is a bit of a mess. I was only able to login to my account through the forum login despite creating a regular account and registering it earlier today. It was a bit of a pain in the ass. And then it tried to add all 105 possible Skylanders singles that could be purchased to my alert list rather than just Wham Shell and the 4 sites that I wanted to be alerted to. I had to go through the list and keep the Wham Shell listings and delete the rest. Thanks again! This might be the only time I use this site unless I get really desperate in the future.

Once I figured out how it works, it doesn't take long to add single Skylanders to your list.

After about the 4th separate alert, all being in the early morning hours, I was able to get an order in on and Wham Shell. Now I am off to hold my breath.

OVER 40 NEW CHARACTERS!!!! (That's what the video says...)
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/...iants-grows-up
From the article:
Below are some new ones...

Cynder (Undead; Series 2); Jet-Vac (Sky; New Character); Pop Fizz (Magic; New Character); Prism Break (Rock; Light Core Series); Trigger Happy (Tech; Series 2); Tree Rex (Life; Giant); Bouncer (Tech; Giant)
A big group shot...

There's a couple of Giants in this group: Bouncer (center); Tree Rex (far right); a whale-like giant with an anchor (to the left of Tree Rex); a hornet-looking thing (above Bouncer); and an armor-clad something (near the left).
I see a couple of new Skylander characters: an albino-dragon creature (far left); Jet-Vac (left front); Pop Fizz (right front); and a silver knight with a bow (over Bouncer's left shoulder); an undead elf-like character w/ a spear riding a skeleton bird (to the upper-left of Tree Rex)...
My guess is that there are new characters for each element and a bunch of Series 2 poses for existing characters.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/...iants-grows-up
From the article:
Giants not only allows players to use their original Skylanders, but will even carry over stats, upgrades and customization from the original game. The level cap has been raised from level 10 to 15, and you’ll be able to continue leveling up your favorites. As in the original Skylanders, all characters can be used on any platform, meaning that if you level up one character on a 360, you can use that same toy on a PS3, Wii or 3DS and maintain all of your stats. New Series Two figures are also planned, bringing back original characters in new poses and adding an upgraded ability in the game for each.
Skylanders Giants will feature 20 new characters (including eight giants) when it hits stores later this year. With features like drop-in/drop-out co-op and new multiplayer modes, Giants could end up being the most hardcore kids game we’ve seen yet.

Forty new figures? This could get expensive fast (not like it isn't already expensive). Can't you guys at least let me find Wham Shell and complete my set before you drop a bombshell like this on me?
My son's going to want to watch that video over and over again.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
40? I liked it better when it was rumored to be 8 giants (1 per element), 8 new characters, & 8 revisions.
Looking at the revisions above there appear to be standard figs with new molds and the lighted series. Cynder & Trigger H. don't look lighted. So maybe:
8 classics with new molds
8 classics with lighted parts
8 Giants
8 new Skylanders
That puts it at 32. Leaving 8 from the 40 total. Probably 16 new figures? If that's the case, it's easy to ignore 16 redone figures.
All that aside, I like that they are upping the level cap. I wonder how that will affect play in Skylanders 1. Hopefully they'll unlock the B path of upgrades for all the original figures.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
I wish they would just show us a pic of the new lineup. It would be nice to clearly see what is coming. I also hope that they are better prepared to keep up with the demand this time around. Also, I wonder how the game itself will be released. Will we be offered only a starter pack with 3 new characters, portal and the game? Will there be a game only release and will it be decidedly cheaper than the starter pack? I wonder how that is going to pan out.

There are pics on that page of the Giant with the hammer and a new Skylander that looks like a mushroom.
Series 2 characters are reissued versions of old characters. They come in new poses and feature one new special move. All Skylanders, old and new, will have a new level cap set at 15.
Light core characters feature old and new characters that will have the Giant's light up capabilities.
Skylanders Giants will have two retail SKUs. One will feature the new game, a "Portal of Power" a Giant figure, and a normal figure. The other will feature the game and one Giant, the gateway figure for more giants. This holiday isn't going to be cheap.
Here's what you can look forward to (These numbers are subject to change):

I wonder if the packs will have portals? They are not mentioned.
Footage of Giants Bouncer (Tech) and Crusher (Earth):
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TNs_HItOrJk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Other details fleshed out at E3 are as follows:
8 Giants: Over double the height of regular Skylanders, which in the game translates to new attacks, higher stats, unique puzzle challenges and new ways to interact with the world.
8 LightCore: Four new and four reposed light-up Skylanders figures, new Series 2 characters as well as re-released Series 1 characters. The LightCore figures require no batteries and induce power wirelessly from the Portal.
New Skylanders: New Skylanders characters, likely to be one for each element, with new power attacks and special upgrades. These figures will take advantage of the higher level cap and other abilities introduced in Skylanders Giants.
24 Re-posed Skylanders: These series 2 Skylanders are reposed versions of the Series 1 figures. As well as benefiting from an increased level cap in Giants these are also granted new Wow Pow upgrades as well as being able to capitalize on multiple upgrade paths.
World Enhancements: Players can access new battle arenas and modes, which seem to suggest support for online play this time around. New hero challenges are available for each Skylander character and can be access by both Series 1 and Series 2 figures.
Perhaps most interesting is the pricing of the different packs:

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
It looks like we have seen 5 of the Giants so far. As long as they keep the characters interesting and improve the gameplay from title to title I'll stick with it. I remember collecting baseball cards and other stuff as a child so it doesn't bother me that my daughter wants to collect these.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
I don't see the mention of a portal being included in any of the above packs. Also, I was hoping they wouldn't hit right around the 15 dollar mark for each of the Giants but I'll be damned if they did. I was hoping for them to be around 12 bucks apiece.

I also am a bit concerned about the statement that the series 2 figures will have an additional ability. That sounds like the "new ability" will *not* be available on the original series figures. This way, via the kids, they'll get you to purchase them anyway. You know... "But the *NEW* (insert series 2 character here) has (new ability) that the old one doesn't have! I *really* want one of those! Pleeeeeease!?!" and you'll cave 'cause after all it's really nor more expensive than Pokemon, yet another lame Happy Meal toy, etc. The fever will start and you'll be zoolerting again to get the new set of *over 40(!!!)* characters!

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
From what Goldberg posted, it seems, if you only want new stuff, we're looking at:
8 Giants
8 new Skylanders
4 new light-core Skylanders
That doesn't seem as overwhelming as the 40 figure tossed out yesterday. As long as they spread out the releases like they did with the first game, that doesn't seem that bad at all.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
^But that doesn't take into account the mysterious "new ability/move" for the reposed series 2 figures. If it's truly specific to those reposed characters and doesn't apply to the original ones you'll *still* have to purchase them for those abilities/moves.
Wasn't it *8* light-core Skylanders?
That Wired story has this:
Nothing is said that I can find as to whether or not the original Skylanders will get "Wow Pow upgrades". Multiple upgrade paths is a bit vague too. Does it mean there are *more* options for those characters or that they'll have the same ones as before.
So adding *that* figure to the 8 Giants, 8 LightCore, and supposed 8 New Skylanders gives you 48 figures total! Holy cow! It was hard enough to collect the 32 from the first game!!
And don't forget that TRU is apparently still a partner so we'll most likely see more "Legendary" type exclusives. There's also been nothing said if Giants will have "Adventure Packs" like the original. This hasn't even been released an my wallet is already crying...
