That's how I feel as well, though I hear 3.0 is pretty fun. Still my son is firmly in the Skylanders camp -- so much so that he said he didn't want 2.0 when I offered to get him it.
We will be getting Skylanders Supercharger, but I'm waiting for Black Friday. The last two Skylanders games were around $40 at Black Friday and I see no reason this one wouldn't be as well.
We went by and looked at the stuff for sale yesterday. That submarine playset looked really nice.

Gator Shea, post a pic of your haul here!

i have played some of trap team at a friends house and I would agree with you somewhat with the older iterations of Infinity. However Disney 3.0 REALLY raised the bar alot over the gameplay of the other versions. The playsets are much better. Twilight of the Republic is very fun. The 2.0 playsets just didn't seem as alive as the 3.0 ones are.

I am soooo glad my kid is out of this stuff now. It's a damn money pit. That never ends!

I actually have all of his stuff on ebay now for all the previous games. He doesn't play the games anymore and all that shit was just sitting there collecting dust. I pains me to think about how much msrp that stuff is and how little I am going to get on ebay.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Well... it's confirmed that the Wii and 3DS Superchargers Racing are essentially Mario Kart type games. From what I've seen the primary differences don't amount to enough to make me want to jump into this one (I have only the Wii at my house). Essentially, you can change your vehicle and/or driver (which also changes the vehicle attack mode) and formerly random track items are no longer random (mainly the attack as that's now vehicle determined) but provide specific boosts/power-ups. I'm not into racing games enough to bother with Mario Kart much less a more expensive variant. I'd have much rather had Activision just say "Due to hardware limitations there will be no more Wii or 3DS versions of Skylanders" rather than offer this stripped down game in a obvious money grab.

That said, my grandson is lusting after this one. He has a X-Box at home so can take advantage of the *real* game and not some slap-in-the-face offering.

Trap Team is my first introduction to this series of games. I actually purchased Swap Force before TT but my daughter has been more interested in it(TT), so that's what we have been playing. I also went and purchased the previous two games and have been buying sets/figures on the cheap here and there. I recently purchased quite a few from Gamestop during their B2G3 free used figure sale(Skylanders/Disney Infinity/Amiibo).

Stopped by my local Target today and checked out part of the video playing for the new Superchargers game. My daughter and I are suckers for racing games(she loves playing the XO Forza demos), so I see this eventually finding it's way into our home. Just no time soon. With the inclusion of Donkey Kong, it will more than likely be the Wii U version.

We didn't bother with Target. I got most of the stuff at Best Buy, we grabbed the legendary and another at Toys R Us and then my daughter went with my wife to the mall and got the Frightful Fiesta at Gamestop. To be honest, I don't really like the look of the legendaries nor the nitros. I find this practice of multiple versions of characters and vehicles a tad bit annoying.

I agree. All those variants are a royal pain, especially when you have a kid who tracks 'em all and lusts after them.

That said, I *do* like the looks of a few of the "nitro" variants over the regular but most are shelf sitters. There are fewer of the Legendary figures I like over the regular ones and they all look pretty much like the "dark" variants - or is it the dark variants look like a Legendary? I guess the latter since they came after the Legendary line. No matter... we mostly use those for alternate upgrade paths.

Those "store exclusives" are more annoying than anything, especially when one of the stores has no location in your area (like us with TRU) and the ones that do tend to receive limited stock while locations just over the edge of too-far-to-drive are stocked to the gills with no store-to-store order process.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

I forgot it was coming out Sunday, and happened to see it at Best Buy (we had just been to Walmart where there was no sign of Superchargers). I ended up picking up the Wii-U version, and the Crypt Crusher, although I'm having second thoughts about the Wii-U version (everything else has been Xbox). I did not see any Dark Editions at BB, but we did see them later at GameStop and TRU.

I will be picking up Frightful Fiesta at Gamestop sometime this week, but he's really the only variant I like so far. I didn't like the look of the Legendary Jet-Vac or the Nitro Stealth Stinger.

I picked up Crypt Crusher because it was marked on sale for $12.99 at BB. Reading on Dark Spyro it seems the Sky Slicer is also on sale, although the other vehicles are regular price at $14.99. It also seems people are finding "gold" variants of Hot Streak in some of the starters (PS4/XB1/360/PS3).

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

So are the portals compatible between systems (besides the Xbox ones, which are always locked out)? I'm thinking of getting the WiiU starter pack, but eventually getting the digital version on PS4 (wait, do they even sell a digital version if they make you have a new portal? Argh)

Yes there is a digital version, and it will work with the swap force, trap team, or superchargers portals.

According to this site, a WiiU portal should work on a PS4. If what they show is 100% accurate any portal from any system works with any other system other than the X-Box. I'd think the original Wii wireless portal might not work with other systems but they show it does. As you indicate, the X-Box portals only work on X-Box systems.

Yes, there are digital versions of the game being sold (don't know where or how). They supposedly come with the game and 2 figures (don't know just which).

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

I have to say that so far I am glad that we didn't pass up on this one. The very first level is multi-faceted with land portions and vehicle portions. The hub is well developed and has a lot of things to do. Also, there is finally online play with voice chat. Yes!!!!!

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

I've watched some gameplay online and it really looks good. But I absolutely don't see why it couldn't have been ported to the Wii. Sure the graphics have been ramped up considerably *but* I've not seen *any* game play that looks to be outside what's come before. I still feel insulted they made such a crappy knockoff version for the Wii this time out. But that won't stop me from purchasing a few characters... for my grandson to take home and play with on his X-Box. I've already started by picking up the store exclusives since he really likes those. At this point I'm fully expecting the Wii version to tank and them put it on fire sale clearance, much like the tablet version of Trap Team. If that *does* happen I'll pick up the Wii version anyway...

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

IMHO the problem they had last time was that the Trap Masters were really the only Skylanders that were worth playing. Is it different for this game, is there any actual use for the older legacy characters (or do they have non-vehicle-riding new characters?)

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

From what I've seen *all* the "new" characters have a vehicle, even the returning ones. The only ones without a specific ride are those from the first 4 games.

At least that's what's shown on the SCL site (a great site for character images and info).

Well, lord help me. i got $50 GC for Amazon for my birthday. I knew I wanted the Inside Out playset for Infinity and then like a dummy I added the $18 Swap Force starter pack to my cart as well.

Wife isn't too thrilled.

Hot Head is a Giant. That's OK as you *do* need at least *one* Giant to be able to open some gates. Just be aware he's not swappable.

I got a couple more vehicles in today. I'll try to post an updated pic of all of our Superchargers that we have collected so far.
