Yeah, if you don't mind a digital copy - check out amazon, they can be had for around $10 with shipping I think.

Now you don't have to tune into the VGAs next month: http://www.spike.com/video-clips/wee...me-awards-2011

Yeah we do - because that's a teaser for what they are showing at the VGAs (which i won't watch anyway)

So by "we do", you mean "go fuck yourselves, I'll see it on GameTrailers that night instead".

No. I mean the video you posted is a teaser for the reveal on the vgas.

I guess I was more referring to your "we do" followed by "I won't". Not much of a "we" then, is it? In other words: "go fuck y'all's selves".

Catches my interest that's for sure. Impressed that it's something this nice that's XBLA to be honest, and I can't wait to get me some more Alan Wake.

Re: Alan Wake's Night Springs?

That looked cool and pretty upscale for XBLA. But it didn't look any different to the original game to me.

Guess we need a thread title change to Alan Wake : American Nightmare now

Re: Alan Wake's Night Springs?

I don't really need anything different from the original, for better or worse. I just need a decent story.

Oh, I get it! Being in Oklahoma would be an American Nightmare! Let me know when your standup tour hits Dallas so I can go.

I probably gave up on the game a little too soon. However, the combat was just so awkward for me. I just never got a handle on it.

how much time did you spend playing? I think part of the point of the game was to never let you feel like you are in control...to have you on edge the whole time...that being said when the game clicks, the combat is one of the most satisfying one/two punches you can get in a game...even more so than Bioshock....

Re: Alan Wake: American Nightmare (Oklahoma/Florida)

I really ended loving the game and it's additional DLC but I honestly don't know if I can take the same combat over and over again......it's tough because here is a game that is so detailed and full of depth that makes the player perform nothing but the most basic of actions over and over again....and to top the negativity off - it's the SAME boring action over and over again.

its strange because I never once felt this way about Alan Wake...I get bored of games easily...and even games I love...like Gears...I find there are times that I am doing the same thing over and over and it gets repetitive... Alan Wake though kept my going and I never once felt "this is just the same thing"...at least not until the dlc...and even then only slightly...

Yeah, I hate blasting possessed trucks that are flying violently through the air at me with my flashlight.

Re: Alan Wake: American Nightmare (Oklahoma/Florida)

to the people it hits a nerve with.....come on, you know the game play is extremely repetitive with absolutely no options - being that it's also a linear game....it makes that repetitive feeling linger even more.

I'm not saying it's a bad game at all, I loved it but I hope they build on it at least a bit.

pinata242 12-12-11 10:56 AM

Re: Alan Wake: American Nightmare (Oklahoma/Florida)

All games are repetitive, though. I played through AW at least twice, including all the DLC, and I don't ever feel like I was bored with it. The story kept me going.

Assassin's Creed has done the same thing across four games and I desire more because of the story.

Batman: AC did the exact same thing as AA but I can't get into it because the story is boring.

Alan Wake is a story-driven game anyway. Even if you hate the gameplay, there's enough there to keep going. Of course, if the story for AW:AN doesn't grab me, it may suffer from the same ho-humness that Batman has, but I see no reason to expect that yet (for myself).

Repetitive gameplay hasn't kept me away from Pac-Man or Galaga all these years either and those don't even have stories

Excellent comparison. Yes, AC is the same thing over and over - but fuck me, I keep wanting to go back and back and back.

I'm hoping that Alan Wake has magical powers this time, personally.
