You could always play with us.

Oh, I plan to do it on both. The PS3 thing is more nostalgia, since I played with the same group for a few months...much like the daggers of destiny.

It kinda makes me want to start the Daggers Of Los Santos!

EDIT: I played a little bit on the PS3, and I can say that Heists were made with the PS4 in mind. I could talk about the obvious like load times and graphics, but one of the big things I really noticed was PS3's lack of party chat. In the one part I played, I lost contact with my partner with every cut scene, so a lot of uncomfortable silences. And with some of the heist parts being split among the group doing their own thing, a centralized party chat is sorely missed.

It was nice to get back in touch with one of my old running buddies, even if just for a short time.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

I'm watching a couple of dudes stream heists and...........
Spoiler:
they're relegated to playing by themselves online and doing no heists. They were able to manage to do one part of what I believe was a heist. After that.....nothing. Typical R(c)ockstar!

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

OK, I have now completed the first two heists on PS3.

Man, it's a shit load of fun!

The first heist is mostly a tutorial. It gets you ready for what's to come, and isn't as elaborate as the others. It's also a 2-person job as opposed to the others that are 4-person jobs.

The second job is awesome. I think IGN compared the heists to the Raids in Destiny, and they're not too far off. The biggest difference is that everyone has a role to play. Think of doing the sword for Crota or holding the relic, but everyone has to do their own job. Death from anyone equals failure.

In the second heist, you have jobs all over the map, with the team having to split off into 3 groups. Even the jobs that seem easy end up being harder than they seem, with curves thrown at you midway through. It helps to have a well rounded team. Good drivers, good pilots, good shooters. And since you have specific jobs, there's a built-in replayability so you can see what it's like to try it from the other perspectives.

Finally, the rewards. You get paid very well for the heists. There's a pool of $500,000 for the second heist (forgetting what the first one was). The leader chooses the distribution of money, meaning you might wanna think twice before playing with a random (or a douchebag you know ). If you're not the leader, you get paid for each setup mission, while the leader puts cash up front for the heist and doesn't get paid til the end. So it's kind of set up to have the leader take a larger take.

Beyond that, you unlock new vehicles for purchase along the way of each heist, like a sweet bulletproof car, a plane, and even a sweet 50s car that runs really fast. And that's just the first two heists.

I'm not abandoning Destiny...but I'm playing the shit outta heists!

Yeah I will never play a heist with random. If one dies equals instant fail I can only imagine the hate some of these assholes will have for you.

I am pretty sure the failure for anyone dying only applies to the tutorial heist.

I sure wish I could have played one but as par for the course Rockstar did not step up their game. They have to be one of the worst when it comes to logistics and it is head scratching thinking that they can create these complex games.

Nope. Trust me, on the second heist, there are several parts where you have individual jobs that put you far away from your teammates. If you die, there is no recovery. Now, you don't start the whole heist from the beginning again, the heist as a whole is basically several missions strung together (this is my main pet peeve of the whole thing, how they handle the missions). So if you die you start at the beginning of that part of the mission.

I wonder if Rockstar added any new individual missions online? I also don't know why they can't give us a mission creator.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

I signed on later than usual last night, and, although I got an invite to the usual Destiny raid group, I didn't accept it quickly enough, so someone else got in before me for the sixth spot... So I fired up the heists with my buddy, and away we went. They absolutely live up to the hype, and they had better have, since they are over a year late! I love the concept of older multiplayer co-op, where each person has a specific job that they need to be good at, in order for the team to succeed.

Although I only did the Fleeca /tutorial job, since we don't have a full four any longer (we lost a few guys in the transition from PS3 to PS4), it was some of the most fun I have had multiplayer in a long time. Not to mention the take, which was very good for the time put in (nearly 200,000, thanks to the bonuses).

I had mentioned previously in the thread that I need more people to get to the four minimum people, you're more than welcome to play with us. I am in California, and usually can be on around 6 or 7 most nights.

To add to your post, the mission list that was always available under the "online" tab is empty since the heist update. That means no more easy access to contact missions like Rooftop Rumble, or Potshot for farming, unfortunately.

I thought that might just have been a server problem. If not, then GTA online is over for me once I have my fill of the heists.

I hope that you're right, and that it was just a side effect of the server problems. If it was an intentional change, that is ridiculous.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

So after a Wednesday night full of issues with the heists, my old crew and I managed to complete the third heist. This is the one IGN talks about in their preview article, and believe me, it lived up to their hype!

The final part is an epic battle...at least for half of the team. Since I only did the epic battle side, I can't say if the other guys had the same kind of excitement that we did, but my guess is no. On my end, I'm having to fly a chopper around the middle of a war zone with enemies all over the place. Crazy. Then I gotta pick the other guys up. Then another freaking air battle! As I maneuvered the chopper around, weaving through missiles and machine guns and everything else, I'm just amazed at how fun and crazy this is.

After months of Atheon and Crota killing, this was such a different experience. But the teamwork, the unity of the crew all working toward one goal, was just like the raids in Destiny.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

I have had a lot of fun so far with the first two heists. The finale of the second heist took us about 6 times to finally finish off but it felt like a huge accomplishment when we pulled it off. I have to say that we had all agreed that it would be the final attempt for our crew as it was getting later and we were all tired. I had to go ahead and start my own youtube channel and I uploaded the video for my part of the finale. Check it out if you don't mind.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

When you say the third heist (the IGN one) are you counting the tutorial heist?
And I wonder if the tutorial heist counts as one of the 5 total.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

Yes, the tutorial counts as one of the five heists. That is a bit disappointing. However, I am hoping that they consider adding more heists as we move forward. Just one new heist at a time every couple of months would be great. Also, they really need to consider giving us a mission creator. They could even go fancier and give us a heist creator. Yes, it would be rudimentary in comparison to what they can give us. However, I am sure that some of the really creative people could put some cool stuff together for us.

Lame.
But yeah, one new heist every once in a while would be great.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

A heavy duty four player bank heist is something I haven't seen yet. That is if it is not part of the 5th heist. Also, we need a casino heist, an artifact heist from the university and some kind of heist that deals with Merryweather. I think that they have expanded the equipment about as far as they can go and weapons are also quite expansive. However, there are still many more things out there to build around for heist action.

I surely thought there would be a casino one when I noticed the banner on the casino saying "opening soon". Or maybe that was always there?
