I think you can order your cars you already own from your smart phone to be delivered to your location.

If its single player you are probably screwed. Happens all the time. They really should have adopted the mechanic and insurance into SP.

So I just got a PS4, and tried this game out. It's my first GTA game, believe it or not. I have not played much, but I have to ask this terrible question, and there isn't really a polite way to ask, but:
Spoiler:
Is this game all Ebonics? I'm having a real hard time listening to this dialog.

 no. You'll eventually unlock two other characters who are different. :)

Don't feel bad, I didn't like the parts with Lamar either. Of course I also didn't care for San Andreas... shit, am i racist?

I thought Lamar was hilarious, and obviously written/performed that way for comedic effect.

Lamar is the true, secret hero of the story.

Does anyone else think that Trevor with a long hair cut looks like Jack Nicholson in the Shining?

Nah, that's crazy and totally unintentional...

What store is that outfit located in? That's freaking sweet.

Edit: So I found the outfit it was at one of the discount stores up in the desert. The name of the outfit is "Overlooked Red Blouson" Which I think is fantastic since the Hotel in the Shining is the Overlook hotel.

Now I just need to find the Hatchet. Can anyone help me with that?

Try going to the impound lot. It's supposed to have your abandoned car. Sooner is better because it didn't keep a large selection. One or two maybe. I went there once on PS3, but didn't find the car I had just lost. They might have improved it for the current gen.

So how do you use the Parachute? I tried jumping off the side of the mountaing that I found it on. The parachute did not deploy and splat I died.

There's no trick to it. You don't need to pass a certain mission or anything. If you can find one (and you obviously did at the top of Mt. Chiliad) you're good to go.

That said, you can't just deploy it manually at anytime. The game actually has to recognize you're falling from a great enough distance. It isn't gonna prompt you to deploy the chute if you're jumping off a 1-story house, for example. I'm guessing you were too close to the mountain.

There are parts of the mountain you can jump off (there is a bail bond mission that requires you to) but most parts would require a motorcycle to clear the mountain enough to parachute.

Thanks I will try jumping off the mountain with a dirt bike tonight.

Just died about ten times in a row taking a dirt bike off the side of the mountain lol. So where is the best place to try and jump from?

On the Poleto Bay side or where the machine brings you up.

TotalBiscuit is such a tool.

Listening to and acting upon consumer feedback is anti-consumer? Okay...
edit: and a couple specific retailers choosing not to carry a title is not "censorship." If the AU/NZ gov't banned the game, then that would be a different story.

Australia is so stupid. Scumbag feminists whining again. Of course the violence against men is no problem.

Is there an easy way to get this game back on track? Seems like after I do a real storyline mission, the story just dries up, and I have to just wander the city looking for stuff to do. Would rather just keep up with the storyline.

Also, what's the easiest way to earn money?

Btw, I think the controls for this game blow. I don't think I'll ever get used to it. Drive at full speed, and aim and shoot?? Damn. Thank god for the "skip" option!

Keep switching characters until you see a destination for one that advances the story.

Stock market. Buy low, sell high. Listen to radio chatter for clues as to what to buy, and certain missions also affect stock quite a bit.

I think except for shooting while driving, the controls for this game are excellent.

Guru Askew 12-08-14 11:42 AM

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

I usually try to stick with the defaults but I had to change the shooting from the two-trigger method to the one-trigger method. Holding one to aim and the other to shoot while driving is too much.

And the side mission thing has pretty much always been a part of GTA. Those side missions often times introduce characters or other elements into the story that are required for the story missions to work. The truly-unrelated ones are classified as Strangers & Freaks and are marked with a question mark on the map. If other missions seem unrelated the connection should become apparent as you play through the game.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

So the story missions are labeled M or L on the map? and the ?'s I can safely skip?

(The little text bubbles that show up on the TV to explain this stuff are so small, I miss them a lot)
