How will they know if you are a returning player?

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I assume through your Rockstar account (assuming you already linked it). Strange that they don't mention that though. I hope they don't expect you to still have your previous disc since I traded mine in to pre-order this version.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
So to get the extra content, would it be worth renting the last gen version at the library, get to the first mission and stop, and then buy it on the PS4?

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
Hrrmm. I think I have one of those social club membership things. I think....

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
Be careful though -- you need both discs - one to install and one to play. IIRC, Redbox only rented one, or rented them separately.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I think the PS3 version was all on one Blu-ray disc and the 360 had to ship on two DVDs. I could be wrong though.

I guess I'll request the PS3 copy then since I'm planning on picking up the PS4 version. EDIT: Well it looks like they have twice as many 360 copies, so no waiting if I get that version instead. Hopefully it doesn't make a difference (360 to PS4), doesn't sound like it though if it's going through the Rockstar club thing. |

1080p 30fps on both consoles. Some 4k nonsense on PC.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
First person mode looks amazing.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
Well shit...I bought GTA V on release day last year and have only played the opening mission. I don't have an Xbox One, but I think I should just sell my 360 copy and pick up this new XO edition as part of a bundle. Looks awesome.

Ok this is a must buy for me now.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
So, so glad I traded in my 360 version for this. If you have a 360 or PS3 copy and GCU, you can preorder this and upgrade for only about $18 net.
Best Buy is doing some shenanigans now, dropping the TIV of all games so that they can advertise 50% additional bonus this week without paying any more. Before the game traded for $20, so with GCU you got $22. Now this week, it's $14, so with 50% bonus added you'd get $14 + $1.40 + 7 or $22.40. Whoopee! |

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
Incredible news. The 1st person mode looks amazing, and something I've dreamed about in a GTA game since forever. Plus 4K support?
Yeah, definitely buying that new PC now. 8GB GTX980 can't release soon enough. |
Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I think it's proof you just can't make a "Great" third person multiplayer shooter - this is the main reason I see fro them doing this (aside from what I posted earlier in this thread) - it begs the question, will first person and third person multiplayer modes be separate? Obviously someone in third person mode would be able to see you coming from a mile away.
I don't know though, I mean, it looks fantastic and obviously I'm going to buy it but...I like GTA because it's a third person game and because of the ground they broke. I'm not against the first person mode but I hope they don't use this as a way of cutting down on the awesome environments in their games. |
Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I wonder if a first-person mode could be patched into the 360/PS3 version. I mean, it is pretty much just moving the camera to the character's eye-level, and maybe just a couple other simple things, tops.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
Nope! It was said that they had to build on the already created world for it to hold up in first person, create new animations, improve the guns, put car interiors with working gauges and other stuff that the limited memory of last-gen systems would prohibit.
|
Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
Oh, the developers said that? So it must be true...
Sorry, I stopped believing this industry's bullshit long ago. What's FAR more believable (just based on shit the industry always does) is that they held back this feature in order to re-sell the next-gen version to people who already bought it last gen. |
