re: Battlefield Talk

Wow, that would be a great deal if I didn't think the underlying game was terrible.

****monkeys indeed.

I am going to play tonight. I just decided.

Of course, the wife might decide otherwise.

re: Battlefield Talk

Sorry for the disappearing act last night.

I don't know if you remember me saying that it was taking a really long time to load maps, but my blu-ray laser went out last night. I have another one ordered ($20 part), and I have a spare PS3, but I knew it would take forever to load the updates, and I was aggravated, so I just went to bed.

Too bad too, because I had a tank parked in the other team's spawn, parked between their two tank spawns (using them for cover). I was on about a 20 kill streak.

re: Battlefield Talk

By my count, we had 10 of 12 spots on our team at one time: chess, cruz, R2, ogs, yaw, diecast, ktown, the two guys chess met via other games, and me. It was a great night of domination in nice full servers! R2 and I were on the other team for a bit so I had to nab ogs's tags again.

re: Battlefield Talk

Even I jumped in last night after watching some Game of Throwns (which was awesome). I jumped in as a wookie with a shotgun in my favorite uselessly gigantic map. Was trying to cap A when some idiot in a jeep keeps tring to run me over ( I was trying to remember the controls while this is going on) I pepper the Jeep with a few shotgun blasts while dodgin this guys clumsy attempts at vehicular manslaughter. I finally figure out how to pullout the C4 take a few steps back and thrown down the C4. Mr Magoo finally has a bead on me and is heading straight for me when I press the trigger and watch the jeep and his ragdoll body get tossed in the air in a flaming victory. It was sooo deliciously doochy.

Caught lost of dogtags, Spot assists and explosive kills throughout the night. Had an opportunistic triple kill with C4 when 3 opposing wookies were all sniping within 3 inches of each other. The game is easy to get back into when our team is rolling the other team

re: Battlefield Talk

It was awesome to see you in the game Cruz...hopefully you'll join us every now and then. It's a really really interesting and deep game when you explore the different classes and try different styles of play.

I'm so irritated w/ the PS3. This is my second "dead" unit, though I'm pretty sure I can fix this one.

re: Battlefield Talk

Question: I'm on 360 w/ BF3..though I'd also like to play on PS3. Does my account just work on PS3 as well? Like..does my stuff get shifted over cuz of Origin? And then I can play on either console w/o loss of my stuff?

According to this thread, no, but I can't vouch for their expertise.

re: Battlefield Talk

Not sure how the save files are limited between systems, but yeah, seems like it would it would be easy to update. I can't imagine Sony or MS would be too excited about people having the ability to do that though.

re: Battlefield Talk

If memory serves, you unlock stuff super quick in BF3, so it might not be that big of a deal...especially given that you probably already know which guns you like.

re: Battlefield Talk

Sony and Microsoft get a cut of all sales so there will never be any sharing between the 2 systems

re: Battlefield Talk

See that's the part that doesn't make sense to me. If Battlelog and Origin has everything cataloged of what I did in BF3 on 360....I've no idea how, financially, this would affect Sony.

I'm not talking about literally having my soldier (or save file) already fit w/ everything I have on him...but..they know wtf I've already unlocked..so...technically couldn't they just use that sourcepoint w/ just giving me my crap and then I just deck my grunt w/ the stuff that I had? I'm not sure how that affects them in the money sense.

re: Battlefield Talk

Well there is the chance that you'll pay to unlock that stuff...some percentage of folks do, I assume.

Anyway, I suspect that it is mostly based on Live and PSN being closed ecosystems. PSN has made a few exceptions for Valve/Steam and as far as I know Live has never made an exception.

You know what..I JUST noticed wtf those kits you can pay for are. I just got the premium and didn't give a shit about the rest in the store. Got bored..so I read a bit. Damn..people paying to get the unlock shit. That's sad.

re: Battlefield Talk

I bought them. I don't really care for the game, but I played it because I liked gaming with the people here. I did not want to have to suffer through a ton of public matches in my free time just to have the same weapons everyone else had.

Don't mind Slider. He's as wealthy as (and as douchey as) Mitt Romney. He also has an elevator for his car and a horse whose cost of living is higher than your family's.

But fortunately, he's quiet.

In a bizarre twist of irony, Dice decided to put 0 tanks in any of the new Armored Kill maps (in Conquest mode anyway). I'm not complaining though because the new vehicles they added are awesome. There's also a new Tank Superiority game mode to satisfy my tank whoring needs. It's basically two teams of tanks and tank destroyers (new vehicle) battling over a single flag in the center of the map.

Speaking of maps, the 4 new maps are equally awesome. HUGE doesn't even begin to describe them. All 4 maps have 5 flags in Conquest mode. On one of the maps I was messing with my settings when the round started so I was a little late spawning. I picked the base spawn not knowing any better. It literally took me almost two minutes to run to the nearest objective because all the vehicles were gone.

After a good 4 or 5 days of playing Armored Kill, I'd say it was definitely worth the wait. I've had so much fun with BF3 lately that I've started working on all the Assignments and trying to unlock all the new weapons they've added. The variety of weapons and gadgets and vehicles in this game now is really astonishing. I've even stooped to playing Deathmatch to rack up some quick kills for the specific weapon challenges. My stats have taken a nosedive, but it's been surprisingly fun as hell.
