Can't say I'd do that for a year Spatch, but I understand.
Best of luck, and if you're to busy to light motherfuckers up with us, we understand...but get back every now and then! |

Seriously though, I've rented quite a few apartments in my day. The only real deal breaker I have ever had was if the closet rod couldn't support my weight.

re: Battlefield Talk
After about a week away it was nice to get into some nice games with shumway tonight. They were nice and close, both on White Pass and Laguna Presa. I think both times they took the first round and we took the second, if I recall correctly. I also found I had to switch to medic in the second half of each map - even went for it the entire last Laguna Presa - because our little team wasn't holding objectives and I was the only medic on our team and we needed a way to preserve tickets. I like when games are tight like that, both teams within ten tickets of each other nearly the entire game. Just feels like a lot of good action and tension, that way.
You'll have to ask shum about all his new nemeses, as well as nabbin' the Level 50 tags of his namesake (I got 'em, too). |
re: Battlefield Talk
I'm working on a tile project in my bathroom, so I haven't been on much, but I got a few hours in yesterday as well.
Gotta admit, recon played a particular way is kind of fun. On small maps, like Oasis or Arica Harbor, it's fun to just run objectives like I always do while tossing motion sensors around. Now that I kind of understand how the motion mines work, they have become a real advantage, particularly in close quarters. I'm just running with the USAS for now, but when I unlock the VSS, I'll probably try that out with a red-dot. I used to just always run my medic kit, but I've been running the engineer kit more and more based on the map, and I can have some fun with assault or recon in the right setting as well. |
re: Battlefield Talk
I've come to a place where I sometimes have a hard time picking a class. After hitting the 3000 kill mark with the Carl Gustav, going back to exploring other classes has been fun and when a map pops up I really have to think about how to play. Yes, even recon.
That said, I find it amazing how many players aren't using their class, the map, or dropped kits to their fullest potential. For example, when my team clears an area, I pick up the nearest Assault and Medic kits and drop ammo and med packs, just racking up those points. I'll even pick up a Recon kit and toss out a motion censor in the direction of the enemy's closest objective in case of an ambush. Finally, if I'm playing Engineer, I immediately set to work on repairing any vehicles after I drop all that other stuff. Meanwhile, all the Assault and Medic teammates are just standing around reloading their guns and not dropping anything. The Wookies go back in hiding. And Engineers stay in their half-dead tanks instead of repair them. Sometimes they see me take initiative with their kit type and then drop stuff or repair. I don't get it. Grabbing kits on the ground is a habit I've gotten into only since last fall so I had plenty of time beforehand when I didn't know any better. But to not even use your own kit to help teammates? Ugh. As for not using the map to its greatest advantage, why haven't people explored the actual capture radius to figure out where they can hide and capture even with an enemy tank by the flag? We (Russians) were almost done capturing Alpha on Panama Canal when a tank rolled in. I hid in the back and was doing great but my teammates jumped out of their hiding spots right next to the flag and ran around in circles. I dunno, maybe to make their inevitable deaths more interesting. I usually avoid hopping into tanks unless I'm playing Engineer, but I'm running Medic and still hop in the parked Bradley at Alpha, take out the tank from behind, and have time to revive at least one guy before I capture the flag and get the full 150 points because everybody else is dead. Maybe I'm noticing these things more because I'm playing with more randoms than you guys these days and in the absence of greatness, mediocrity shines bright. Great Ace Pin last night on my last map. Seemed like every lobby was 2-on-2 or 3-on-10 and I would bail because I wanted a nice, full game. Instead of picking a specific map, I hit the "Any" option and end up with an 8-on-8 game... on Heavy Metal. Our favorite! And really, I've improved the way I play on that map so much that these days, I really do enjoy it a bit because it's point city if you know how to take down vehicles. Basically, I don't leave Bravo very much and use the AA gun and a final shot from Carl Gustav to take down the building next to the AA gun so I have a clear shot toward the enemy's deployment and wipe out their choppers. If they're taking their choppers all over the place, I'll do it to both buildings. By and large, I get left alone with the occasional Wookie nuisance. Usually, though, people must assume I'm dinking around and shooting at buildings instead of doing anything tactically dangerous against their team. Either that or they simply don't see me. When I enter the game, the teams are even but we have no objectives and are down 100 tickets. Ugh. I pop in on a Silent Random Squadmate (SRS) just as he takes Charlie. Great, let's head to Bravo. Nope. He takes the CAV back toward deployment so he can fight everybody for the chopper. Hmm. I hot foot it to Bravo and along the way come across a chopper. He's flying low and, in a moment which is rare-but-wonderful for me, I blow him out of the sky with the Carl Gustav. Double kill, it's beautiful. I turn around and there's an enemy tank rolling at me so I hop into the Stationary AT next to me an blow it to hell. Second double kill, again, beautiful. So that's like 420 points or something in five seconds. I hear the one thing anyone in my squad says over the mic the entire game: "Daaamn!" Maybe this is wishful thinking or too Hollywood but it felt like my teammates saw all that death via me on the upper-left-hand side of their screen and it rallied them to actually give a crap if they win. From that moment on, the team did an amazing job. Never lost Charlie. Took Bravo and never lost it. Took Alpha and kept taking it back again and again. For my part, I stayed in Bravo, did my little AA gun manuever, and ripped up another four choppers. Occasionally a tank would roll into Bravo so he'd have to get the ol' Carl Gustav in his rear grill. At one point, a Wookie sniped me from out of the AA gun; good for him. Plus, it reloaded my Carl Gustav for the next tank(s). Respawned, hopped in the AA gun, spot-spammed the hell out of the sniper's hill across from Bravo, lit him up, and then let the AA gun light him up. Heavy Metal is not a sniper's paradise; it's my sniper hunting ground. Okay, so the Ace Race. The other team had one guy at 2000+ points with everyone else in the game scattered between like 200-1000 points apiece. He kept racking up his points, yeah, but so did I - especially as I took out his chopper and tank a few times. I beat him by at least 500 points, coming into the game 100 tickets down, no objectives, and with a squad who wouldn't talk. Ended up 25-5 and of my 5 the other team's leader got me twice and both times saw him teabag me. So when I got the Ace Pin, I messaged him: "Ace." I don't usually get snarky but, well, if your team is getting the turn-around put on you and it's still important to teabag? I might have to throw a little snark your way. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Loving Spatch's comfort level with sending people notes.
Rolled with OG a bit tonight...some fun games. Finally unlocked the VSS for my wookie douchebag and have been playing him for the heck of it. He's not as much fun as the other classes, but it's definitely a different play style. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Rolled with OG and Lee for a bit last night...fun times.
My new resolution: If I run into a really good chopper pilot on Atacama Desert, I'm just gonna leave the map. Win or lose, that shit is aggravating. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Fun night rolling with OG and Spatch.
We were doing some great work, especially on Nelson Bay. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Hands are too sore from tiling to play tonight, but I did stumble across this on the internets.

re: Battlefield Talk
I'm in for quad launching, but you have to play some conquest with us too.
Put that CoD down and blow some shit up!!! |
re: Battlefield Talk
Tore it up today with Inoru and Spatch.
Highlight was getting my 500 kills with the VSS, so I never have to play recon again. The VSS isn't a bad gun, but I run out of ammo a lot with that damn thing. Once when I ran out after killing a medic, I picked up his SAW with red dot just by chance, and it was beautiful to carry that thing again. I'm also about 10K points from 49. |
re: Battlefield Talk
Hit 49 today...
Was telling Spatch, I think I play engineer more than medic these days. It's just a really fun class to play if you want to douche it up and get a shit ton of cheap points. I still like to play medic on maps without a ton of vehicles, but on Panama Canal, Laguna Alta and Presa, Harvest Day or Heavy Metal, I'm all about the Engi. I especially love laying mines. With explosives upgrades, two of them will take out even a heavy tank, and I can carry six at a time...and have 6 active...and they stay after you die. So I'll place them on downhill slopes, in shaded areas, on natural routes from the other team's base or between objectives and just watch the points and kills roll in. Sometimes, I'll switch back and forth between mines and RPGs to get the best of both, but invariably, whichever one I have, I wish I had the other. I generally prefer mines, because when I'm confronted with a tank I often use them like C4 and pop two behind a tank and then shoot the mines...BOOM! I can't emphasize enough how much I think Nic and Slider would like playing engineer in BC2...particularly when they do something like the last 15 seconds of this vid...Carl Gustaving a chopper for the double kill while simultaneously getting a mine double kill on a tank. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/thDZ5Y4aB9I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
re: Battlefield Talk
Rough time finding good games tonight, but we finally found a good competitive lobby. In the first game, on Nelson Bay, we came in to the other team holding all of the objectives and despite all 3 of us getting decent K/D we never could quite get a foothold. The second round of Nelson Bay, we probably averaged 2-3 of the 4 objectives for most of the map, and it was damn competitive. Then we went to Heavy Metal, and we took all 3 objectives fairly quickly. Lee and I took a buggy to their base, killed a couple of guys and then stole their tank and just douched it up in the most epic way chasing most of their best players off. Ended up 10-0 that round.
About a third of the way to 50...better pick up the pace Spatch! |
re: Battlefield Talk
Falling off the first page...what's up bitches?!?!?!
Think I'm gonna level up my Uzi tonight. |
