Actually, you'll be on our squad/team more often than not, and you're going to love the game. Despite some odd quirks and bugs on the front end, the actual game engine is just about the most sophisticated piece of software I've seen.
Hopefully we'll see you Friday night...or I'm on periodically over the weekend usually. |

Tried an Onslaught online game and did ok. Got 23 kills and only died twice. But I shouldn't assume...you could just be a badass medic. ;) It's a bit hectic but fun. I'll be there on Friday for sure. Sent ya a friendo request too. What time Friday EST? |

The campaign is great fun. I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately chess is right in that the multiplayer is pretty good. Those sound suspiciously like sniper numbers. You'll find that pure snipers are generally frowned upon in Conquest and Rush as they don't really help the team much, and BC2 is all about team play. |
Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
The best thing a sniper can do on Conquest or Rush is chill out a good hundred yards away from a target and snipe people who are trying to enter and capture/demolish/save the point.

If it weren't for all the wookies, who would we stab? Just sayin.

It's even worse advice for Conquest, where you have objectives spread all over the map and the other team can move flags under all kinds of cover. The only way you're really of any utility to your team is if you aggravate somebody on the other team enough that they get distracted. In Conquest, I simply ignore snipers unless my team is way ahead, and then I go sniper stabbin'. As I said, pure snipers are worthless. Recon guys who use their motion detectors at objectives and C4 on tanks are another matter entirely. Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
Played BBC2 some more today. Didn't do too bad. I was playing conquest. I'm just trying to get a feel for the actual game mechanics at this point. I've noticed there is an actual strategy to this one. Been playing Assault since I don't know enough to actually do the other things yet.
I don't care to play the sacrificial lamb for you guys until I earn my wings. LOL |
Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
I had a Amazon gift card that I got for my birthday last week, so I ordered BFBC2 yesterday. Should be here by Friday. If I do pop on, it will literally be my first time ever playing, so we'll see if we can make it work. Also, how are the update/install times for this one? I probably won't be able to pop it in to do that until I get home from work on Friday.
|
Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
It is a pretty big install from the beginning. Took me a couple of hours on a DSL connection at high traffic time.

Got stuck in the DLC map loop again last night in Warzone. The group I got stuck with was ok, but the lowly medic (Me) had to do all the work. At least I got a nice 5 kill long streak clearing out a room with my bot and my LMG! |

Don't worry about being new. A team can afford to have a player or two who's still feeling things out. I always recommend starting with the medic and just going after objectives in Conquest. You'll rack up tons of points whether you mean to or not, and Conquest is a little less like a meat grinder since it has 3-4 split objectives. |

Then I'll probably be iffy for Friday, unless I can get the wife to pop it in as soon as it arrives... but she also uses the PS3 to play Sesame Street DVD's for my daughters during the day, so I don't know if that'll be possible.

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
Good times in BC2 tonight! At one point, we had 8 of 10 people on a team in 3 different squads, but we were sufficiently good that we chased the other team off. Late in the night, we were getting beat up pretty bad.
Hope those last matches didn't frustrate the new guys too much. It's normally not quite so bad. I did have at least 4-5 Ace pins...so that was cool. |

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
I had fun, but I've never been partiuclarly good at FPS, so it'll probably take me a while to get used to it. Also, sorry to drop off so suddenly without saying goodbye, I had to go take care of a crying baby.

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
All good Cactus, and you can be very effective in this game without being a good shooter player. I'm almost always in the top 3-4 players, but my kill to death ratio is garbage.
Who was on when Vong's kid yelled "DUNEBUGGY!!!!"? I had to bite my tongue because I didn't know if the people on had seen the video, but I was laughing my ass off. The kids were actually hilarious telling him what to do and then finally with a "Can I try?". I was hoping for a "Get a job!", Spatula-style. Tons of funny stuff last night. Edit to add: I had a game with ~6,500 points last night and something like 20 pins/dogtags. Crazy. |
Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
Thanks Cruz for starting a BFBC2 thread. I appreciate that. ;)

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
I C4'd about fifteen enemy tanks last night. I think that is officially my job now as it is pretty much the only thing I can seem to accomplish.

Even as a medic, I contributed to this with my buddy "Alfredo". He says, "somebody get close to the tank so I can spawn in and C4 it". He kept the tank busy while I snuck into some bushes about 15 feet away from it. Fredo grenades himself, spawns in on me as a recon and BOOOM! Just like we planned it. It was sweet just to be part of some devious teamwork, and I think you would have approved. |

Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
Cruz, have you tried hosting an MGS match? I could never figure out how.

It occurs to me that Vong may not look at the Warhawk thread (though he should definitely get Warhawk as well.)

I think the highlight for me was a long range Gustaving of a sniper. That's gotta be a surprise! |

Thinking I need to separate Battlefield from both this and the Warhawk thread...getting confusing. The Gustav shots were hilarious! Got a couple more dogtags today. I also crept into the douchebaggery of running over enemies with my dunebuggy. I clocked 3 of em in one game. LMAO! |
Re: Return of the Weekly Rotating Games Night (PS3)
I don't know what you guys were talking about last night, "Slider is running for the hills," "Slider, that's not very productive," "Slider is just sitting there sniping..." -ohbfrank- I was whooping ass with that sniper rifle. At one point you two were sitting by a flag, four guys come riding up and I sniped three of them from a few yards away. I was also defending the shit out of that B objective sniping people who were trying to capture it. Also, multiple tanks were C4'd; fun all around. Looking forward to next Friday.
And yes, Vong, get Warhawk. :D |
