re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
Guacamelee! seems like a no-brainer at $7.34 this week and is a cross-buy title (buy either version, download both).

Did anyone pick up Dragon's Crown? The Gamespot review makes it sound really awesome. And, worth asking the question, get it for the Vita or the PS3?
Edit: Ah, screw it. Ordered it on the Vita. Anyone else who gets it should hit me up for some co-op via wifi. |

I wouldn't jump then. Probably will be a nice bundle for the holidays with a game and maybe even a small memory card.

I strongly, strongly doubt that. This isn't an iPhone; there isn't a new model every year. Besides (unlike the 3DS and its tiny, headache-inducing 3D screen) there isn't much to improve on with the hardware, except things they could take out to make it cheaper (like 3G). What improvements were made over the life of the PSP? Very little, besides a brighter screen (which certainly isn't needed here). They dropped the price to sell more units. Not a surprise to anyone.
Like phones, I think handhelds need releases often enough to seem 'fresh' to consumers that are used to new models coming out every year with phones. It's certainly a trend with tablets which are no doubt taking customers away. It took Nintendo a year and a half to introduce a new model of the 3DS (however the 3DS was already a success). I think we might see a new Vita around the PS4s release. Probably something to help sell the Vita alongside the PS4. Something that probably makes it look like a PS4. I've been out of the Vita game for a long time, but has anything new even come out for this aside from ports? |

I'm surprised the 3G is scarce. Does anyone actually pay for the 3G on their Vita? I bought a 3G version "just in case" but have never used it, nor been given a compelling reason to use it. The one thing they could do is actually put some on-board storage on it (or increase the size and decrease the price of their memory cards). That can't be too expensive, can it? The only hope I have for the Vita is that there's going to be some kind of integration with the PS4. Now who knows how far reaching that's going to be, and who's going to bother putting that in their games. I mean heck, the Gamecube had the ability to connect to the GBA, but outside of Animal Crossing and Pacman Vs. it wasn't too compelling. Supermallet, I have Dragon's Crown, though I have yet to open it. Went for Vita because it seemed like a decent game to play on a portable, and the time I can dedicate to playing games on the TV is limited... |
re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
Yeah it November of last year (White Vita, All-Stars Battle Royale Download, 3 month PS Plus Trial) for $180 from Amazon.
I ended up getting it for $200 from Target a month later because I wasn't in the market at the time. I think this is one case where the White version looks a hundred times better than the black. |
re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
I have the white and I think it is awesome as well.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
"significant reduction in memory card prices" Well, that's a start.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
Hell yeah, Borderlands 2 coming to Vita
|
re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
Sony cut the price of Vita to $199 today.
|
re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
I thought the basic, no game model was already $199?
|
re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
It's been on sale recently for that much, but the MSRP was still $250 for the basic, game-less, wifi only version till today.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
Weird. Oh well, anyone considering it get the AC3 Bundle.

PS Vita memory cards now cheaper in North America In addition to knocking $50 off the price of a PS Vita in North America, Sony has also announced memory cards for the device are now cheaper. 4GB cards are now $15, 8GB cards are $20, 16GB cards are $40 and 32GB cards are $80. These updated prices should be reflected at all North American retailers starting today. |

If they have a bundle around the holidays that includes the system, a game and at least a 16GB card for $199, I'm in.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
The Amazon price for a 32gb card was already cheaper than the official price drop. Maybe it'll go lower now.
|
re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
The Amazon prices are currently $2-$3 less than the new low low low prices!

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
Curious whether, all other things being equal, Vita remote play would be enough to make folks pick the PS4 version of a game over the X1 version. Seems like it would...really slick feature.

The weird thing is that they said "almost all" titles will have remote play, so they're covering their bases, but how easy is it to implement for the developer?
The feature is built into the hardware, so for the dev, it's simply a matter of mapping the buttons. |
