Do you watch Archer? Season one is on Netflix and it really shows how great the display is on the Vita.

Ha! I tested the Vita screen/Netflix with Archer. Really impressed with the quality of the screen.

Funny, I also tested it with Archer! I then threw on an episode of Black Books to see how live action looks, and it also looked quite good.

So I broke down and got a vita today with some trade ins at a local store. Got uncharted with it and then did amazon's b2g1f sale and got Lumines, Marvel vs capcom (yes, you can get this even though it isn't on the list), and Rayman. Not bad for 80 bucks.

For the bubbles on the main screen, hold them until edit mode pops up and then hit the smaller bubble in the corner and it will give you options. For PSP stuff, etc. go into settings.

It only took like an hour and a half for the inital charge, is that normal?

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

By the way, if anyone wants to do a warranty on this and got the wifi make sure you put in 249.99 for the price and the rep told me to use psp as there is no vita category right now. Then add the accidental damage from spills and drops. You can get a 3 year parts and defects warranty with protection from spills and drops for 54.99 which is pretty good. Way cheaper than the one from sony. Check your email for a code from 2/21 if you've dealt with them before, that code still works.

Just thought i'd let you guys know. All you have to do after is send them a copy of your receipt or order confirmation if it's from a site.

You can do the 3g one also, but for 300 the price goes up like 15 bucks which still isn't too bad.

Probably not. I noticed on mine that the battery already had a pretty solid charge right out of the box...

ended up getting plants vs zombies and escape plan since both are only 15 on the psn store, but I've only been playing uncharted. It is amazing and just as fun as the others.

Now IGN is chiming in that the "Free Game" in the 3G system isn't really free and that they got duped. Don't know how you can work at a major video game website and not be able to deduce the same information that we all could at our computers, but still I'm glad that they're calling Sony out for this.

Does anyone else have problems connecting the vita up to a mac. I downloaded the content manager but everytime i plus in the vita the manager icon disappears and it says that connection was lost. It sucks cause i want to go to the psn store and play online.

That's a bunch of bullshit right there. Plants is $2.99 on apples ios. Dungeon Hunters alliance is $40! while you can get it on ios for 99 fucking cents!

If Sony wants the vita to survive, pricing needs to start being competitive.

Well, PvZ is $15 on PSN and on XBLA, so its release-date price on PSN seems unsurprising. It's a bigger game than the iOS version and has trophies. It wasn't worth it to me to buy again, but for some it seems fairly reasonable.

As far as Dungeon Hunters, it's a physical retail game, so it would never be very cheap but yeah, it's absurdly overpriced -- which is the reason I suspect it'll be the worst seller by far of the launch titles and on the Target Clearance rack as soon as there are more games to take its shelf space.
BTW : The exact same thing could be said regarding Asphalt 3D on the 3DS.

Except Asphalt 3D was in...3D. Can't do that on iOS.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

I got my Vita (Wi-Fi) Friday, but my games (Target.com Uncharted/Hot Shots) just shipped yesterday so they are estimated Wed-Fri this week.

I've tried the demos so far for Rayman, Lumines, and Gravity Rush (JPN). Rayman is gorgeous I will pick it up at some point, since I haven't played it on PS3/360. I have Lumines on PSP, and XBLA the new one just wasn't different enough to sway me. The Gravity Rush demo was hard to control, but I know it's because I inverted the right sticks axis. I need to try it again and see if I can get it correct.

I really want to grab Escape Plan from PSN, but have a nagging feeling that there will be a PSN+ discount/sale coming. It's bad I've been conditioned for release date sale prices on plus.

Thing with Rayman (I finished it on the PS3) is that it already gets incredibly difficult even when playing it on a big (stationary) screen where you can see the platforms and hazards around you easily - I can't imagine how much harder it would be on a small hand-held screen - especially a screen that's attached to the controller that will move/shake as you move manipulate the controls.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

Picked mine up on Friday and have been enjoying it a lot thus far. Has a really nice screen and the graphics have impressed me so far (I've only played Uncharted so far). I like the way the touch screens have been implemented (at least in Uncharted) and tilting the system to perform certain actions. I also like the size of the system itself and for me it seems to fit better whereas playing the Nintendo DS sometimes my hands would get kind of uncomfortable after a while.

I wound up just picking up the games I was initally planning on (Uncharted, Ninja Gaiden, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3) and got the 4GB memory card (got the system from Target so that was included as well as the games buy 2 get 1 free). So far I'm satisfied with the purchase but I do hope that Sony lowers the price on the memory cards as I'd like a 32GB one but no way in hell am I paying $100 for it.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

i have played the hell out of the vita since I got it. It's already gotten more time than the 360 i traded for it got in the 4 months I had it. Also, remote play is amazing.

Also with verizon the unlimited wireless tether for me is 24 bucks and I haven't used over 450 minutes for like a year so I am lowering my plan from 900 to 450 and then getting the tether so I'm going to be paying about 4 bucks more than I'm paying now and having an access point for my vita... Forget ATT's 250 mb for 15 bucks lol. Oh, and I get 4g instead of 3d :P

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

Could someone confirm if the Vita will play all PS1 Classics, either streaming from a PS3 or local on the Vita?

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

The vita can not play any ps1 classics local YET. Supposedly they are adding that soon. I did try all of the ones I have on remote play though, mostly square IE Crono trigger, FF VII, VIII, IX, Xenogears, Parasite eve 1 and 2 etc and they worked through remote play.

I also can't believe I spent 30 bucks on a downloadable psp game last night. Final Fantasy IV the complete collection, as it's officially supported. It does contain 3 games, FF IV, the prologue, and The after years so I guess it's worth it. It has greatly upgraded graphics from the snes days and it is my favorite game of all time (first rpg I ever played).

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread

Thanks, that's exactly the info I wanted. FFIV:CC is an awesome package; well worth the money if you like the old RPG's. I wish I had originally bought it digitally so I could transfer to a Vita. There's no way to transfer a UMD game to it, right?

Nope.
We used to laugh at those who bought a PSP Go at launch, but they still get to play their games on the Vita and the rest of us don't, so they get the last laugh.
