I think the PSN games for the Vita look far more interesting than any of the re-hashed franchises like Uncharted.

I was able to watch enough videos and ordered from that site. Went with Paypal so if they try to screw me I can at least get my money back.

Yeah, they sure seem legit. I'd order a game or two, but not until I see some reviews.
BTW: I read that ModNation Road Trip will not have online racing as a feature. Very lame, and will cause me to pass on that one. One of the coolest things about ModNation was the online integration that was so seamless.

I should be getting some games to review. If I end up liking the Vita enough, maybe I'll use the additional points to order a larger memory card.

I dunno. Maybe I'm weird. I don't care at all that many of these games don't have online play. It keeps me from paying for the 3G model and carrying a data plan along with it.
I also ordered a couple games off that site using a bunch of my "PTZ" -- CAGers swear they're legit. Many have already ordered bunches of stuff and received it all in pretty short order. This reeks of a site that's not going to last long. So assuming they're legit (which I think we can at this point) either they're going to get purchased by someone who will do away with the deals or they'll go under.
I ordered Army Corps from Hell (the IGN preview sold me), Uncharted (from Radio Shack, ship to store) and will pick up one more game based on reviews. I have an article to write for a tech e-zine on Sony's potential market share for the Vita... which was really just an excuse to pick one up and sell the article as a preview/market speculation/review in three stages. More $ for three features. Then the Vita more than pays for itself.

Yeah, that site seems legit, but it also seems like the money's going to run out and someone's going to be left holding the bag at some point, though hopefully not with the Vita stuff. I'm too afraid of that, plus I'd go through the terms of service with a fine toothed comb to make sure they aren't harvesting my info or something like that, otherwise how in the world is that sustainable?
Just cancelled my wifi order, because otherwise I know I'll forget next week and then have both of them shipped. So are the 29.99 prices for Wipeout, Hot Shots Golf, etc. on Amazon true discounts, or are other places just not up to date on the pricing?

I'm almost sure the site is legit, I've seen photos there from a long time. I still not convinced about the Vita. I also expect a big drop in price this year. Maybe under $200 for the holidays.

I dunno, Sony seems to hold fast to their prices (though maybe they've learned something from that). Seems like it took forever for the PS3 to drop, even though it was way more expensive than the competition at launch. And even the reviled PSP Go took a while to get official drops.
Nintendo's 3DS pricedrop was pretty shocking, but they had more than enough time to factor that in... plus they have to be either taking a loss or making very very little on the hardware. Maybe if they can get a cheaper revision in, there could be a pricedrop, but I'm not sure I would count on it (or if the thing just flops, and if it does why would you want it without support?)
Of course this is all justification from someone spending a load of money on it at launch...

Very detailed 4.5/5 star, 5-page review of the Vita hardware at Tech Radar.com. I'm really happy with what they had to say. Sounds like they're most enamoured with Uncharted Golden Abyss, which isn't that surprising I guess. May have to order that from Butt Plug after all...
Verdict
This is fitting of the original PSP2 tag that it earned early on in its life.
It improves on the PSP in almost every way, adding the dual sticks that developers can't do without, as well as the touchscreens and motion controls of other gaming systems. Still, it does feel like a reaction, rather than an innovation.
There's nothing new or revolutionary, simply another means to play games and watch movies.
We liked:
As a portable console this is about as good as it gets. This really is a portable PlayStation and lets you ditch Temple Run in favor of full sized, big budget games.
Both the graphical capabilities and the screen make for a luxury mobile experience while the controls combine the best of traditional and more creative inputs, enhancing but never detracting from the gameplay.
The price, too, is fair. Other high-end mobile devices cost far more, and while £230 isn't exactly pocket money, it's still a heavily subsidised console.
We disliked:
The web browser really is awful. Blank sections of screen, juddery loading and lacking features, it might as well not be there for all the use you'll get out of it.
The size of the machine also makes it a little unwieldy to use the way it's meant to be held: if your thumbs fall naturally on the sticks then reaching the middle of the screen is uncomfortable and vice versa.
Verdict:
Before you decide to 'go Vita' you need to be sure about what hole you're hoping to fill. If it's mainly games on the go then knock yourself out. It mixes the best of everything out there with games that are PS3/Xbox quality right down to Angry Birds level bits of fluff.
The controls, both traditional sticks and the motion and touch stuff, are all great.
It's also a capable media player with the various social apps also looking promising. But this is really a games machine and should be viewed for purchase as such. It won't worry more versatile i-Things, tablets or media players anytime soon but if you want fun first, and a few other features second then it's worth investigating.

re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
Does anyone know or heard if you can download ANY psp game on the PS3 and tranfer to Vita and play? I've seen the list of PSP games you can download on the Vita store, but what about download on PS3 then transfer to Vita a game that isn't available in the Vita store?

I went ahead and ordered the $35 Uncharted deal from "that site" so I'd have something to play on the system. Figured it would be the safest bet. The MvC game looks like it might be awesome as well...
BTW : Still can't find what game or choice of games you get as your freebie, but the Amazon listing gives details on how you get your freebie. (Hint : It won't be quick)

Um, that wouldn't be a free game. If you look back a page, you can see the box. The box has a sticker that says "Over $55 Bonus Value, 8GB memory card, AT&T Data Session and A Downloadable Game with activation, For a Limited Time".
Now let's add this up:
8 GB card : $29.99
AT&T Data Session (1 mo, 250 MB) : $14.99
PSN Game : $14.99 (that's been announced already)

Almost $60 total value.
That's how they came up with the package and its value. You don't have to pay anything, just activate your free month of data service. They're hoping you think it's the greatest thing and will continue to give them your $$$, but I won't.
If you want, here's all the fine print about the deal on Amazon's site. They even tell you how to cancel before you get charged (the part I highlighted). Looks like you've got to give them a CC#, so you have to stay on top of things if you don't want to get charged anything.

With only 27 days until the launch of PlayStation Vita, we are excited to announce two PS Vita 3G/WiFi bundles. If you were one of the lucky consumers to pre order the PS Vita First Edition Bundle, in addition to the PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi hardware, a limited edition case, a 4GB PS Vita Memory Card and Little Deviants game, we will now be including an AT&T DataConnect Pass good for one free 250MB data session (a $14.99 value) upon purchase of one 250 MB data session, and a PlayStation Network game – both provided upon 3G activation on the AT&T mobile broadband network. And the best part, you still get it a week before the official launch date.

So the free game is pretty meh. Spend $15 get a month + a free game. Not sure I'd ever use the 3G for anything (I, like everyone else, has a cell phone with a data plan).

Ok, you get an 8gb card on the 22nd, a 4gb memory card with early bundle, is that right? Gamestop is only giving $70 for 3DS plus extra $25 if going to Vita, was it this low before?
