Re: WWE All Stars. (3/29/11)
If you want extensive CAW modes stick with SDvRAW, All Stars is just a pick 'em up fighting with hardly any focus on CAW mode or customization.

I was hoping to be able to either use a wrestler or create my own and sort of go through a career. Ya know...start out in local arenas earning 50 bucks a night, then get called up to the WWE but start out as a jobber and get whooped by the big guys, then sort of make a name for yourself and start being a part of very minor storylines and finally become big enough to develop major feuds and be in title matches and whatnot.
Or, you could use a real wrestler and have a SLIGHTLY different path for each one.
From what I can tell, you go through the 10 match path of champions, beat the Undertaker, Orton or D-X in tag team and that's it. Unless I'm missing something that's pretty damn lame.
Hell, I played a wrestling game on the N64 that actually had a pretty indepth career/story mode.

People just expected way too much for this sort of game...the main focus since last June was it's a cartoony, "larger than life", with over the top gameplay.

The problem is that you have to do the 15 matches in order, starting with Warrior Vs. Sheamus. As you win each match, you unlock the next one, all the way up to HBK Vs. Undertaker, a match that unlocks HBK.

I didn't expect much, but I expected a career mode with any one of the fighters available. So while this game still intrigues me, it'll only be a purchase at $19.99 or less. A game like this should never start out at $60 -- it's insulting.

It's an over the top arcade Wrestling/Fighting game, any sort of fighting game like Mortal Kombat, SF, Marvel vs. Capcom and Tekken don't even have a create a fighter mode and hardly any replay value and 20-30 characters, yet people fork out $60+ on them. Just be glad THQ even included a CAW mode.
The difference between this game, and your Street Fighters and Tekkens, is that those fighting games are deep, and they live and die with competitive online play. All-Stars is fun, but there really isn't anything to figure out control wise, and due to it's pick-up and play nature, I don't see a bustling online player base developing.

Re: WWE All Stars. (3/29/11)
I've only played the demo, but it's sooooooo many little things they could've done to make this game more appealing to me
1. showed the entire entrance
2. when someones a champion they actually WEAR the title to the ring
3. More then three story modes (more can be added through dlc ofcourse)
4. a couple of more match types (like REGULAR tag team instead of just tornado)
5. Everytime you do a special move the person gets KO'd but after that they show an cutscene of you pinning them for a 3-count... o_O (doesn't make any sense)
6. Have all the titles available to play for in exibition modes (and include some vintage belts)
very simple stuff...BTW #1 and 2 are my biggest pet peeves about wrestling games

Y'know, the entrance thing doesn't bother me, because after a while I just skip them anyway. Using classic belts would have been really smart, though.

Even then, all they'd have to do is modify the logo from "WWF" to "WWE". I believe they did that to the belts in the Legends of Wrestlemania game.

Add me to the the price drop list ($20 or less) as well. I had a chance to play it at Best Buy over the weekend and it had some nice ideas but no way am I going to pay full price for that. And no, the reason was not because my ass handed to me by Ultimate Warrior. (I played as Ricky Steamboat)

Yeah, entrances are pretty lame. They have absolutely nothing to do with the gameplay. They're just cutscenes, basically. I don't think I've seen an entrance for a video game in over 10 years.

I picked it up cheap at gamefly the other day, and me and some friends played for hours Friday night. A ton of fun, and maybe more fun than WWE 12
