Re: Definitive Finished/Unfinished Report Card Thread 2011

it seems like everytime a mw comes out I get back into videogames as I havent played anything around april when i played thru dead space 2 and red dead redemption (which i have to still finish once i remember who borrowed it)

picked up uncharted 2, infamous 2, and heavy rain for black friday but had a question I had uncharted 1and infamous 1 and played like 99% of the game before my original ps3 crapped out is it worth getting the originals again to replay them again before moving on?

Last night I wrapped up Need For Speed: The Run and Assassins Creed Revelations. Both on PS3. Assassins Creed was great, NFS was just ok.

Still the only thing I made it through this year.

Bought Arkham (the first one) and it's still wrapped. But finally picked up COD:MW2 again last month when my boy got interested in the Spec Ops co-op mode (earned our first 3 stars on a mission this morning), and I've got MW3 and NCAA12 under the tree for him, so hopefully 2012 will afford me more time to enjoy some gaming.

Wrapped up Splatterhouse (360). A great bargain title IMHO.

I think I'm done for the year. Completed 23 games, after wrapping up Bayonetta last night.

Yeah, based on the amount of free time left in the year I think I'm done as well. 23 games as well.

Probably same here. I just started Zelda and there's no way I'm getting through that in the next two weeks. However I did start Gunstringer and Rayman Origins, so one of those is a slight possibility.

Re: Definitive Finished/Unfinished Report Card Thread 2011

Gosh, I haven't gotten too many new games this year with the new baby.

The only one I can remember finishing is Fallout New Vegas. I guess you can say I finished it, the credits rolled, but I didn't do every one of the side quests.

I put a whole lot of time into Black Ops MP, but I only played around 30 minutes of the campaign.

Re: Definitive Finished/Unfinished Report Card Thread 2011

I guess the best way to describe full completed for me would be getting the platinum trophy or getting 100% of the trophies in games. That being the case, here's my 2011:

Platinum Trophies and 100%:

Red Dead Redemption
Blur
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
WWE All-Stars
MLB 10: The Show
Madden NFL 10
BioShock
Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean
L.A. Noire
Portal 2
Dante's Inferno
LittleBigPlanet
Hasbro Family Game Night 3
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
BioShock 2
Dead Nation
Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4
InFamous
Borderlands
WWE '12
Tron: Evolution
Killzone 3

Platinums Only:

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (For Now)

100% Only:

Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Streets Of Rage 2
Truth Or Lies
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled
Sonic The Hedgehog
Tetris
Golden Axe
Back To The Future - Episode 1: It's About Time
Back To The Future - Episode 2: Get Tannen
Back To The Future - Episode 3: Citizen Brown
Back To The Future - Episode 4: Double Visions
Back To The Future - Episode 5: OUTATIME
Comix Zone
Altered Beast

Incomplete:

Lost Planet 2
Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Grand Theft Auto IV
The Beatles Rock Band
Lego Rock Band
Super Street Fighter IV
Mortal Kombat
Resistance 3 (Haven't started it yet)

Re: Definitive Finished/Unfinished Report Card Thread 2011

I understand getting a platinum without 100%, but what can you 100% without a platinum? Only thing I can think of is higher difficulty or MP trophies. And if that's the case, can it really be "100%"? Seems like you're being generous with yourself

Wrapped up God Of War: Chains Of Olympus (PS3) last night in one sitting. Wasn't expecting that...but it was a fun five hour romp.

PSN games, etc. which don't have platinum trophies.

Re: Definitive Finished/Unfinished Report Card Thread 2011

Hmmm. I don't play much psn, but I could have sworn I got a platinum from this one I reviewed. I did not realize platinums weren't a guarantee. I thought the point was to reward trophy completion. Weird.

Some PSN games have platinums, like Dead Nation. But most don't. They usually have around 12 trophies.

Then there's Truth Or Lies, which is actually a retail game that only has 13 trophies and no plat while the XBOX version has a full set of achievements. I don't know of any other game like that, but I'm sure there are others.

Then there's Back To The Future, which was released on PSN in 5 separate episodes, each with their own trophies. The game was later released on disc as a single title, with a different trophy list, including a platinum. It may be the only game available with and without a platinum.

Re: Definitive Finished/Unfinished Report Card Thread 2011

That's really strange, I had no idea. I honestly thought the whole point of the platinum was to give a quick number of "completed" games via trophies. It seems like the sort of thing Sony should have enforced, or just made automatic through simple math.

The rules that Sony has in place limits the number of trophies, more specifically the number of trophy points, that can be earned from each game. Sony has two levels, small games, and full games.

The small PSN games max out at 315 points (bronze are 15 each, Silver is 30, Gold is 90, Platinum is 180). Retail games max out at 1230, unless they have DLC. With DLC, I don't think there's a minimum, but they might be limited to the 315 max that small games are per DLC.

The idea is that only full games are worthy of a platinum. So yeah, while having plats on everything would make it easier to keep count of how many games you've completed, it would kind of cheapen the platinum. I mean I only put 2 or 3 hours total into Altered Beast vs. the 40+ hours I put into L.A. Noire.

Re: Definitive Finished/Unfinished Report Card Thread 2011

Alright, with the help of TrueAchievements..for 2011, I finished the following:

(Xbox Retail)
NBA 2k11 (Won Championship in Association, All Jordan shoes & challenges).
Top Spin 4 (Acquired Legend Status)
Lego Harry Potter 1-4 (100%)
Mafia II (DLC Packs)

(XBLA)
Puzzle Quest 2 (100%)
X-Men Arcade (100%)
Full House Poker (100% until the second DLC season)
TMNT: Turtles in Time (all achievements except that silly survival one)
Torchlight (100%)

(Unfinished that I would like to go back to or complete in 2012)
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes (just not enough time, but I'm in the 3rd section right now)
NBA 2k12 (Challenges, not sure I want to do Association)
Duke Nukem Forever (finish single player, I put it away briefly and never got back to it)
Saboteur (started it, but never completed it)
(There are others, but those are the ones worth mentioning)

Of course since I got Skyrim for Christmas (Thanks to the wife), I might have only Skyrim and M&M next year. We'll see. Man, I need to play more games.

Finished Gunstringer the other day. Very fun game. Just hunting down some achievements now. I thought I was close to the end of Rayman Origins, but the overworld map just doubled.

Re: Definitive Finished/Unfinished Report Card Thread 2011

I usually play games halfway through, get bored, and move onto something else. Looking at my shelf, the only thing I can honestly say I finished was the single player on MW:3.

I'll try harder in 2012.
