Re: Holiday Steam sale?

Zuma's Revenge is still overpriced. Those folks at Pop Cap are really overvaluing their products. And not having a demo for Bejeweled 3 was an odd choice.
Think I'll finally get Spore. It looked interesting, as I recall.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

If it isn't a daily deal, you should wait until the last day because there is a chance that it will still be a daily deal. Especially Cities XL, I think that one is probably a lock for one of the days. It will probably be $20.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

Could someone help me out on what exactly is Source?

If you own one of the games that runs on Source aren't there a bunch of mods and free games you can play based on that engine?

If that is the case, could I buy Day of Defeat for 2.50$ right now and then cheaply have the base Source engine with which to play those mods and such? I have never placed any of the FPS games on Steam and only own Portal (which I believe isn't running Source or can't use the mods or somesuch).

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

Not sure, you might need Half-Life 2 in order to play any mods. If the Valve pack was still $25 I'd say definitely grab that. It's still worth it for $50, but not nearly as good of a deal (obviously).

Source is included with Day of Defeat and, unless I'm mistaken, all other Valve games that require Source.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

Man, I can see the complaints about Spore.

First I tried to launch the expansion, figuring I wanted to play the most up-to-date version of the game. Except the expansion doesn't install the necessary drivers, so my computer resolution got stuck at 800x600. Then it wouldn't let me log in to my EA account because I hadn't registered the core game yet.

Finally got it working after about 30 minutes of goolging. Talk about a PITA. Game is decent, haven't got to the "fun" space part yet though.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

Actually, all Mass Effect games are on sale - $9.99 for the 1st or 2nd, and $19.99 for the "Digital Deluxe" version of the 2nd. The 1st one would be a good buy for those with a PS3 but no 360.

All of the Silent Hunter games are on sale as well.

Dead Rising 2 has a 60% discount if you have Resident Evil 5.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

Hey, I just found nail'd for $10 as part of the Amazon sale. Pretty decent deal for a month-old, non-budget title. I wonder if there's a demo to this one.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

Anyone waiting for Diablo III to come out should pick up Torchlight. Very good game and a steal at $5.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

I wish I didn't buy games on release and never touch them. Paying $50 for New Vegas on PC when I've barely played it sure feels dumb now.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

I'm considering getting Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition for $25. Any recommendations or opinions on the PC version of this game?

Supposedly it is significantly better than the console version (due to an alternate camera angle and better controls). Honestly it would have to be better since the console version controlled like ass imo.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

Today's deals are just repeats. Lame.

But hey, if anyone missed one, go have a look.

Re: Holiday Steam sale?

I'm okay with the repeats. Gives me another 24 hours to ponder The Witcher and the Fear set. Both sound like pretty great deals.

Never could get Super Meat Boy to play on my computer. Sent them a support request on the 21st and still haven't heard back. I always figured that I'd have to actually start playing that game before I got frustrated by it, but apparently not.
