This game is review proof. Fans of the series will buy this no matter what scores reviewers give it.

I swore to not buy games on release day due to the ridiculously fast price drops, but I'm making one exception this year for Skyrim. Toys-R-US $20 gift card is enough to persuade me.

You say that now, but close your eyes and imagine...

...it got a 9.4.

Same here, but I do get really frustrated sometimes. I'll try not to get to that point this time.

Crafty bastards.
This happens to me too. Happened with both Oblivion and Fallout 3. On paper, I should love these kinds of games. I have a feeling this one will suck me in eventually.

Anyone else watching any of the live playthroughs today? Giant Bomb has Greg Kasavin playing for 12 hours straight. (He started at 10am this morning.) It's been super awesome to just have up and check back in on it once in awhile through the day.

Oh dammit. I just got accepted into the beta for [NDA]. I'll be torn between which to play.

Funny, me too! But [NDA] is only available till [DAY] so I might have to play [DNA] instead of Skyrim this [NAD] for purposes of [AND].

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

Decrypted the game on an Australian VPN earlier, so I was able to play it a few hours. Was a nice way to tie more over through work tomorrow. Amazing game so far. Although the interface is complete shit, 100% designed around consoles. I switched to the 360 controller just to make it playable.

Do you play it on your tv? If so, what resolution do you set it at to play on widescreen tvs?

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

What B&M store has the best bonuses/specials for purchasing this?

I remember Toys R Us was giving away the stratergy guide with purchase of FONV

Yep, I play PC games on a 65" Plasma, 1920x1080.

I've had to resort to using the 360 controller to play, since they designed what must be the worst inventory system ever (for using a mouse/keyboard). Hopefully they get the mod tools out soon, and then I'm sure someone will make a better inventory system (just like they did for Oblivion). Seriously Bethesduh, wtf?

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

I picked it up this morning and have played about 3 hours. Loving it so far. I bought Oblivion but never got into it and I've never played Fallout 3. This one seems to have really pulled me in though. I found the opening quite involving and am eager to see where the plot goes. Having said that, I chose to do a side quest right off the bat and spent a couple of hours getting through a dungeon area which was great fun.

Well Gamestop said you get a map which is supposed to be really nice, but I heard other retailers were giving it away as well.

Amazon has the map as well.

Saw the uber-special-edition at a store today, god, that thing is huge and totally ridiculous!

If you bought this for the 360 they are recommending you don't install this on your hard drive until they patch a problem.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

The map is packed inside the case, and "Premium Physical Map Inside" is printed on the back cover, so I assume every copy gets one.
