Re: Mass Effect 3

no...it just gives some history of one of the races.... It is sort of interesting, but it would had been just as easy to make a codex entry.

Well that's a shame. I was hoping for bigger impact to the overall story.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I decided to go ahead and get the DLC anyway. I enjoyed it overall (despite the lackluster combat) but wish it had a greater impact on the ending. That said, it seems to set up the threat for Mass Effect 4 since
Spoiler:
Leviathan was very clear it wasn't agreeing to help for altruistic reasons.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Not that it's unexpected but it seems that Mass Effect 4 is in the cards, along with the upcoming Omega DLC for Mass Effect 3:

Re: Mass Effect 3

So I guess the new DLC came out last week or something.
It's about Omega and the chick who runs it, or whatever.

Anyone tried it out yet?
Is it worth $10?

I've played it, and it might have been worth $10. Unfortunately, it is $15.

Am I the only person who doesn't mind the ending one bit?

I'm new to this forum and I'm too lazy to read every single page, so sorry if this has been discussed before - which I'm sure it has.

Re: Mass Effect 3

It shows that there's no excuse for the ending Bioware delivered. The Reapers didn't need to be "explained" and a happy-ish ending could have been offered that still carried emotional weight for the player.

I get that they wanted a (frankly cliché) dramatic ending for the player's journey but
Spoiler:
Shepard's demise came across far too forced to even be effective. And, as has been voiced many times before, even if everything the Catalyst said was the absolute truth, why would Shepard believe it?

Something like that fan created ending should have been the new refusal ending. All that was needed was a boss fight in between.

You mean originally? Or after they added the ending DLC? I'm sure there are those that didn't mind how it ended originally

Re: Mass Effect 3

It seems a mojor story-based DLC is in the works:

I've yet to purchase Omega (seems a tad pricey). Was it any good?

It was technically very good. Took me longer to get through it than it probably should have, though. I think I'm over Mass Effect. I didn't even hate the ending like some people (and in fact think a LOT of people overreact either way when discussing it), but something about the 3rd has just dulled my interest in the series in general.

I'd wait for a sale before downloading Omega. It's good for what it is, but it's not on par with Shadow Broker, which is the criteria that I pretty much judge all ME dlc by.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Although I enjoyed it, the third feels very small compared to the second. Even moreso compared the first. Although the length of each game is about the same, there was this sense of awe to ME that gradually diminished throughout the series. Part of it is that the world is no longer new but another part is how the tone changed. Go back to the first game and talk to the Asari characters throughout (not Liara because she's lame). There was this vibe of ancient wisdom that came across from them. Even the more "down to earth" Asari seemed like a totally different culture rather than humans painted blue with tentacles on their heads. By ME2, most Asari acted and sounded like your typical human. The same is true of Turians, Salarians, etc. What made each race unique was clearly diminished in the ME2 for a more homogeneous feel to almost all the races in the game.

Then ME3 rolls along with that baggage but now something new. You're being constantly led by the hand to each objective. Especially in the first few missions of the game. ME and ME2 did this as well but it was more to acclimate you to the world and the gameplay. The new game just feels like you're on the rails for a good portion. And once you do have the option to choose your missions, you can still feel as if you're being guided rather than exploring the world for yourself.

At least that's how I felt while playing it. I liked it but it wasn't the same type of game as before. I illusion of choice was far less convincing.

I saw that Mass Effect 3 won some reward as the best game of 2012. Sounds interesting.

BioWare Gives Fans One Final Sendoff for Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 3: Citadel

Mass Effect 3: Citadel Single Player DLC Pack Takes Players on an Emotional Ride with their Favorite Characters March 5

BioWare also Adds new Character Kits, Maps and Weapons with Mass Effect 3: Reckoning Multiplayer DLC on February 26

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The final chapter of Commander Shepard's heroic saga draws near. BioWare, a studio of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA) announced two new downloadable content packs for Mass Effect™ 3; the single-player pack Mass Effect 3: Citadel and the multiplayer content Mass Effect 3: Reckoning. On February 26, Mass Effect 3: Reckoning will be free* to download, giving fans of the popular multiplayer mode in Mass Effect 3 access to new characters, weapons and upgrades. On March 5, Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be the last single player DLC pack for Mass Effect 3, giving fans one final, sentimental journey with Commander Shepard and their squad. Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be available for $14.99 or 1200 MS Points.

"The team has poured heart and soul into Mass Effect 3: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3: Citadel. As the launch of these chapters near, the feeling around the studio is bittersweet," said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. "We have always been humbled and driven by the passion of our fans for the Mass Effect trilogy. We hope fans will enjoy spending more time with some of their favorite characters -- we have certainly enjoyed spending time creating them. We're excited to release this final sendoff for the trilogy and move forward into the future of the Mass Effect universe."

In Mass Effect 3: Citadel, players will explore and discover new locations across the vast, deep-space station while also having the opportunity to reconnect with some of their favorite characters from all three of the Mass Effect games. The multiplayer DLC pack, Mass Effect 3: Reckoning, offers players new firepower and character kits for the war against the Reapers. Fans will be able to get a sneak preview Mass Effect 3: Reckoning before it launches on BioWare's official Twitch.TV channel at http://www.twitch.tv/bioware. Developers from BioWare Edmonton will be streaming gameplay and taking questions from fans on February 25 at 9:30AM PST.

Mass Effect 3 thrusts players into an all-out galactic war to save mankind from an ancient alien race known only as the Reapers. Players will assume the role of Commander Shepard, a war-torn veteran who's willing to do whatever it takes to eliminate this nearly unstoppable foe. With a team of elite soldiers at their side, each player decides how they will take Earth back, from the weapons and abilities they utilize to the relationships they forge or break. The Mass Effect franchise is one of the most highly decorated series in the history of games, earning more than 300 international awards.

Still asking for $15 after the poor reception to Omega? Sorry for being harsh, but I hope the sales are dismal.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Yeah, I was expecting for something far more impressive sounding. I've always felt they shortchanged the Citadel in ME2 and ME3 but this sounds like a case of "too little, too late".

I held off on Omega because of the price and how let down I was with the last dlc...it is fucking stupid what they are asking for on these add-ons...I am sure it will be on sale some day so I can continue with my perfect achievement score on all 3 games...

Re: Mass Effect 3

Same for me. I bought Leviathan on sale and still haven't played it (because I sold the game itself less than 2 weeks after it was released ). I'm waiting for all DLC to eventually go on sale so I can rent the game and complete it.
