I just started this games a few weeks ago. I had heard it was slow in the beginning so I'm trying to stick with it.

Yes! The first time a real song kicked in during the game it really set in stone just how great this game is.

Just started this over the weekend and I am LOVING it. About time I started playing since I've had it since the day it came out.

I guess you're playing the good missions. So far it's been a chore playing for me. But I'm not giving up.

I'm looking at getting Undead Nightmare, but what's the main difference between the $9.99 d/l on PSN and the $30 disc at retail?

The $30 disc includes all the other DLC as well.

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

Undead Nightmare is definitely worthy buying...It really is a good companion piece to the main game and not only is all the other DLC included....but owning the disc will grant you access to a ton of new multi-player characters as well as unlock a lot (not sure if all) of the existing ones you may not have had a chance to yet.

Yes, it's mostly multiplayer. If you're not interested in multiplayer, I think the only the only things you will be missing out on from the single player game are two new weapons and a set of challenges that go with each of them: the Tomahawk and the Explosive Rifle.

EDIT: Here's what's included in the other DLC (Spoilerized for size):
Spoiler:

Legends and Killers Pack:
■9 New Multiplayer map locations
■8 New Multiplayer playable characters from Red Dead Revolver
■10 New Achievements/Trophies
■A new projectile weapon: the Tomahawk, with corresponding Challenges for single player and multiplayer.

Liars and Cheats Pack:
■Multiplayer Poker and Liar's Dice Games.
■Multiplayer horse races (Grand Prix).
■The Explosive Rifle: A new weapon with its own new single-player and multiplayer challenges
■7 New Gang Hideouts.
■4 New Hunting Grounds: New Hunting Grounds are now visible on the map for all to see.
■Stronghold Competitive Multiplayer Mode: Teams take turns in attack and defense in multi-tiered Competitive games.
■Posse Scoring and Leaderboards.
■15 additional multiplayer characters from the Red Dead Redemption storyline.
■15 New Achievements/10 New Trophies

I think the Outlaws to the End DLC is also included, but that's free DLC, so you could still get that for nothing if you wanted to/haven't already.

Is there any talk of a GOTY edition of this coming out?

That's what I've been waiting for, especially since they put together a GTA IV complete.

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

Beginning by 12:01AM Eastern this Friday July 1st and running until 11:59 PM Eastern on Monday July 4th, all online multiplayer modes including Free Roam and Undead Overrun in Undead Nightmare will earn you quadruple the experience points during this extended holiday weekend.
Perfect time to get to level 50 if you haven't already. I got there during the year-end double XP events, but I'll probably jump back in because of this.

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

Thank you for the heads up. I was stuck at level 48 for the longest time and just played through 4 playthrough of a gang hideout and was able to level up to 50. I think it took me half an hour.

I've already got all the trophies, I probably would've popped it in just for the heck of it and tried to work back up to 50 at least one more time (after passing into legend the first time), but I sold it a few months ago. Oh well.

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

I put it back in for a couple of hours this weekend and after clearing out Pike's Basin 3 times by myself, my level 1 (after passing into legend) had jumped to level 14. Even so, I don't have the patience to grind all the way back up to 50 again.

The worst thing about the Double (or Quadruple) XP weekends is that it brings out all the douchebags in Free Roam. That's the reason that I just play with people on my friends list or go to private. Much easier time and no unexpected surprises...

Re: Dead Thread Redemption: Red Dead Redemption, The Thread: Part II

I borrowed this from a friend yesterday. I played this for about an hour last night. Please tell me that there is some actual shooting gameplay coming. I feel like I am just watching a movie. I shot some rabbits and coyotes, but that is pretty much it. The game is gorgeous, the landscapes are truly jawdropping, but I am ready to start killing folks.

Yes, there is the opportunity to kill people in the game.

The game does need to "kick in" soon or I am gonna give it back. LOL not that the game cares what I do. I am getting the Metal Gear vibe -- more interactive movie than game.
