The first is great. Like I mentioned earlier for being an eight year old game it’s still a lot of fun and holds up quite well if you ask me. Sure there have been graphical enhancements since and the new one looks better, but I still think it looks pretty good. It’s got a pretty good storyline too and there’s a good amount of stuff to do. I’m not sure exactly how the second game ties into the second, but I decided to replay it before getting Red Dead Redemption II at all personally.

You might not enjoy RD1 as much after playing RD2 in terms of gameplay. RD1's gameplay mechanics are going to seem simple compared to what you can do in RD2.

I remember feeling the same way when I played Batman AC first and then finally played Arkham Asylum and being hampered by the lack of moves that I experienced in comparison to Arkham City.

Anyone ever use a cheat code? Does it help or hurt experience?

Your last 4 posts in this thread were asking the same question about cheat codes. That's a little much even for you.

I agree the game starts slow, but considering the story is 60 hours long, there will be plenty of time for things to pick up. Also, I think they purposely limited things until you get past the first camp, which I haven't yet.

The main issue I have is the size of text on the screen, mainly in the menus and satchel. I'm playing on the PS4 Pro on a 4K TV, so not sure if that changes things. I can barely read the descriptions of items in my satchel. Oh, and I tried to take something out of a drawer but it said I already was carrying the maximum amount of that particular item, without telling me what it actually was.

I'm in the same boat too. I ordered this game when they were doing the $50 E3 deal so there's no way I'm cancelling my order but for them to state that there's no stock, it's BS. Did you call to get the gift card?

Had major issues with the aiming - tried lowering the dead zone and acceleration in the options. I’ve found a lower acceleration with a higher look sensitivity to feel better than the default. I think I lowered both by 2 ticks or so, and first-person seems more snappy for shooting, still not great, but better than default, ymmv.

Target finally shipped my copy. For $39.59, I can wait a few more days.

Just curious...but was there issues getting the physical copy? Day One I saw several playing in the early morning hours I assume were the digital versions. But this morning I saw (7) on my friends list had just started playing like 20 minutes to 2hrs ago.

I'd actually assume the opposite. Most places let people pick up their preorders after 9 on Thursday. A few friends went digital and it took forever to download.

Yeah, my physical was ready to go before midnight, I just preferred waiting until after work Friday to jump in instead of staying up so late on Thursday night.

I didn't call but $5 is what those who called were offered. Someone who called said that they will give this $5 to everyone who pre-ordered. I can't confirm if this is true or not.

only played few minutes. looks amazing. plays like RDR but so much fresher. dead eye is different then i remember, maybe just forgetting. the only thing i hate is Arthur's voice. made me appreciate Marston's voice actor much more and since we hear him early on just put off by Arthur's voice for some reason. even like Dutch's better...

Played about 6 hours so far (1 just for poker lol) Game is amazing looking and the attention to detail is insane.

My favorite part so far is antagonizing the hookers "GO BACK TO YOUR CAVE!"

Cheat codes in Rockstar games should only be used if you just wanna fuck around for a bit. The game is already pretty easy I don't see why you would need cheat codes to help you?

Yeah. Never used on first and can’t save and no achievements. I’ll be fine...

I was antagonizing Dutch at the camp, and he was warning me to stop. Why is this important? Because the next time I antagonized him, no joke, John Marston said “that’s enough of you” and decked me. I woke up outside the camp face down in the mud.

Oh and yeah fuck that small font. I hope they fix that. I’m playing on a 65 inch OLED 4K tv and it’s super tiny.

I don't think people understand that most of the beginning missions are tutorials (mixed with some f'n amazing missions - LOVED the bar fight). Someone was comaplainig about how slow you move, you cant run in your designated camps and I love that rockstar changed that. You will walk slower in snow as well but all of this changes when your in the clear.

This is a new gaming experience - people just have to get use to it.

My wife was laughing at how much of an asshole I am (in the game, I swear I'm a good guy in real life  ) by pissing people off. I told one guy that's a fine looking horse, and then asked him how long they've been married. He immediately drew on me and starting shooting

I'm glad everyone is having a good time. I just did the mission where you go kill the bear, but just kidding you just shoot it and go kill it later apparently. Thanks for the waste of time.
I want to like this game so badly. It looks amazing and I'm sure the plot/story is excellent, but it's just not enjoyable yet. It all seems to be fetch quests and training shit so far.
I'll obviously keep playing and I assume I'll start to enjoy it and actually want to play. Right now it's just a slog.

This is my experience so far as well. I know there's a game in there that I would love but right now it's just wasting my time.

Those missions mean you're at only about 8% game completion and again, they're all tutorial missions.

I'm not saying it's going to change but it feels like it is and I hope it does as well.

Personally, I would like to get away from the gang - they're not annoying or anything and I like the dynamic but if we have to continue hanging around them.....I predict fetch-quest city and I HATE fetch-quests.

Yeah, I'm at chapter 2, and while I think R* definitely built something incredible here, and something I still want to experience, just thinking about getting back to it feels like such a fucking chore. I'm sure it'll get better the more I play, but there shouldn't be a hurdle like this at all.

Well Marston eventually leaves the gang under bad terms IIRC. Or they kick him out or try and kill him. I’m assuming we eventually play as Marston, too. Not that Arthur isn’t a good character. But yeah the gang kind of sucks.

I'm at 19% and it's still the same shit. I'm enjoying it a bit more I guess. Maybe I've just accepted this is how the game just might be.
