Pro is hard. I'm going back to baby mode until later today.

I can only take so much soul-crushing at a time.

What's your first impression of the button-matrix?

Yeah, give us a 3 paragraph review, dammit!

Having never touched a real guitar before, it's not bad. I can pretty easily find what fret I'm supposed to be pressing. The hard part is finding the actual "string" to press, and then strumming the correct string as well.

5 years of one set of buttons and one strumbar are killing me.

I'll persist, but I'm gonna take small steps. I figure I can play regular mode during the day while my wife's at work and I have access to the main 360 with the HDD and all the DLC, and then I can do Pro stuff at night on the other 360 in the bedroom, since I won't need DLC for that for a good while.

You better get back to work. If not, I'm going to come over there and perform a Pete Townshend on it, and by that I don't mean the whirlwind!

Having also never really played a guitar, other than just messing around... Can you just press all of the strings on a given fret as long as you strum the correct one?

I think so.. You can strum the more than one string and not break the combo.

Hmm, that seems backwards though doesn't it? You should be able to hold down more than one string on the fret, but have to strum the correct string. Maybe thats a difference between difficulties?

Nice I qualify for the Administrative Assistant job.

I knew being a professor's bitch for three years as MIT and Harvard would serve a purpose! I can have my salary slashed, move back to Cambridge and answer phones for audio engineers. Wooo.

edit: that actually doesn't sound that bad. sigh.

As someone who has played real guitar for a long time I'm dying to try the Pro Guitar mode.

Gamestop and Amazon both say the Mustang is not coming out until the 16th, and Best Buy won't check store availability. Oh well.

I was just thinking...Are any of the new features on RB.com live yet?

It seems like the whole site was down for 24 hrs, for what was basically a re-skin or style change...The account linking and setlist/challenge builder still aren't ready.

Oh, and Harmonix still isn't commenting on the DLC that doesn't work on RB3 (the 2 tracks that were on disc in Europe but DLC in the US). I can understand that they may have had licensing issues, but wouldn't it be better to let the consumer know that up front, instead of letting them find it out themselves and wonder why it wasn't mentioned?

Aside from that, I love the game. I know this post is more negative than positive, but don't let that fool you. I just like complaining.;)

I already own a crappy mexican made Strat with a MIDI pickup in it. No fun to play.

If I buy another Strat it will be an American made $1000+ one.

Mustang seems like it could be interesting for MIDI input on real musical projects...but who knows.

I agree, if I'm going to spend a ton of cash on a guitar, it might as well have dual uses since I need a new electric anyways.

They really screwed up the forums. If it were up to me I would just revert it to the old forum software they were using, there seems to be no advantage to the new one.

Some dude's first attempt at playing the Pro mode - sure he fails out, but tries again and does make it through some of the song. Pretty neat.

It's either that, or pour the water from his mouth into the mouths of waiting fans below. And we all know how that turned out.

I have a nice Blueridge for when I just want to sit down and play the guitar. This is for Rock Band, damn it!

Alright, one of us has to get a job at Harmonix so we can get characters to do this in RB4.
