Oh it's a broad. Never mind.

Stop living your rock fantasies through cheap plastic toys.
This is an outlandishly stupid thing for a video game reviewer to say. "Stop living your sports fantasies through cheap plastic controllers! Stop living your kill Nazis fantasies through fake digital guns!"

Oh man, that review is going to get crazy amounts of backlash. That's probably why they did it, just to generate hits. Fuck IGN, does anyone even care what they think about anything?

I'll tell you what, I'm playing a real guitar right now and I don't have any groupies. At least Rock Band gives me fake audience noise while I play my real fake real guitar!

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Is the IGN review right though that the crowd sing alongs are completely gone?

flashburn 10-25-10 09:05 PM

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Possibly, I don't remember any. Lame.

Clearly Harmonix is trying to wean us off our cheap digital fantasies of crowd singalongs.

Scores aside, that is one poorly written review.

Hilary Goldstein is a guy.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about the Mustang as not being a real guitar. There is some truth to that, but I wouldn't criticize those who want to try it out. As being a middle-ground solution, I'd liken it to using a motion controller to play a golf game. And I don't see them knocking those and telling you to get your ass out on the links. And as far as it being the same as RB2, did he notice the new songs? Even though you would probably only buy some of them if they were separate, you'll almost certainly get a better value than you would through DLC at $2 a track. I think the new sorting options are HUGE, and surely there are other improvements over the 2 year-old RB2.

Although, the comment that the only reason to learn guitar is for groupies gets an -ohbfrank- from me.

Yeah, seems more like an impressions write up rather than a full review.

I'm gonna need a second wind soon or I'm not going to make it.

More to the point, while I can play a few songs on my real guitar or my real keyboard, they're not going to sound like the real thing, and they're not going to simulate the experience of playing in a group. This does remind me, though, of my favorite bad film review, where a reviewer in the year 2001 gave a horrible review to the film 2001, because it didn't come true. Which is, of course, the point of every movie, to come true eventually.

HMXHenry just tweeted that there won't be any info up about the export until tomorrow. Doesn't say when we will actually be able to export though.

The sing-alongs are gone, and I've seen some discussion/speculation that it has something to do with the addition of the keyboard audio stream.

ETA: The current sing alongs are still in place, just none on any of the new songs.

Honestly, this is fine for me. I'd like to spend some time with the new songs before pulling out the old ones again.

Yeah, it doesn't really matter to me right now. I have around 1500 songs, so I don't mind not having the RB2 songs for the time being.

Day One, FTW! I did tweet him a little while ago about it, but I'm sure I was just white noise.

No one really cares about it yet, just surprised by the lack of info especially with the daily, nay hourly!, reminders from Harmonix HQ that we will get it on day one ;)

 Awesome! Even turning the crowd noise down all the way never seemed to get rid of the obnoxious crowd.

And in even better news, I just got my shipping notice from Amazon. Can't wait to try out the new keyboard.

Am I the only one searching for things to do until midnight rolls around (aside from compulsively refreshing this thread, of course)?

Nope. I'm watching the latest SNL on netflix myself.

Did anyone else get their 3 downloadable bonus songs email from Gamestop? My code is eight characters short and is invalid.
