You can have as many patches as you want, but past the first two would cost the publisher money. Unless that publisher is Microsoft of course. :)

Okay so I guess what I'm looking for from you folks who lucked out and got the game early is... is it the greatest thing ever? Is it the best RB game yet? We're all pretty hardcore RB fans here. Does it do everything you want it to?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Pretty much. Although there are some things it could do better. For one, character creation still isn't the best it could be, the tattoo/logo editor is really limiting. I wish for drums that it had real high-hat functionality. There's also the fact that around 90% of the RBN songs don't have pro drums support, but aren't distinguished as such. Luckily going forward this shouldn't be a problem with new RBN songs. It'd also be nice if they could render all five characters at once for the songs where it applies.
Other then that, its pretty great. The overshell and music library are really great. I like being able to do an entire playlist and then skip songs, or continue playing a given song if I fail it. I'd say there is still room for improvement, but I really don't expect to see another iteration until the next-gen consoles come out in (probably) 2013. One other thing I would like would be a very in depth career mode. RB and RB2 tried it, but they were pretty cosmetic and still nothing more than just playing sets of songs. It'd be cool if you could truly manage your bands career, from plotting out a tour, to recording albums and tracking sales. Choosing which songs you want to be singles, etc. I think that could be pretty fun. |

Also with Twisted Pixel, do you know if there has indeed been "nothing"? Or just the fact that the patch hasn't been released? Maybe it failed certification and needed to be resubmitted? Let's not act like MS has been on the ball with every facet of updates, especially with XBLA achievements (Snoopy Flying Ace, Things on Wheels come to mind instantly). Also you can most likely fix your issue by trying on non-Pro and not waiting for a patch unlike the rest of us. |

You both realize that zombie Jesus cannot read much anymore, as he's dead. Right?

My only big complaint/concern right now is the animation bug mentioned earlier that causes the need to restart the XBox. It happens once every 4 or 5 times that animation pops up, and it's a real annoyance for me. I hope it gets patched soon. Otherwise, I think it's almost perfect. |

Is the build on the keyboard as solid as it looks? They already had those out at my local BB and they looked really good. Mine is on order from Amazon so I won't be seeing it for several days unfortunately.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I haven't played around with a real keyboard in years, but yes, it feels very sturdy and solid and I'm guessing it compares favorably with a real one.

That really would be fantastic. Be able to design album cover art, maybe you can have rivalries with other bands, etc.

Yeah, I'm not really sure how any of it would work, but I think there is something to the whole "career" mode they could explore more in depth. I'd love to be able to basically start a band and then be able to try to shape how it grows. Would they become a huge arena filling band, or would they break up after only two albums? The only odd thing would be the fact that you are still just doing covers of songs, but I still think it could work.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I think a path to become the world's greatest and most prolific cover band would be rather fun.

Does anyone know what the trick is for getting the "Play 3 80's Metal songs" achievement? I've beat 4 or 5 from the disc, and then another 5 that are DLC but it still hasn't unlocked. I'm wondering if this is yet another busted achievement that I can't do on pro drums, however the other ones were all drum specific.

Dunno if this was answered, but it must be done on guitar. It's listed under one of the guitar challenges in Career, even though the description does not specify.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Thanks to Amazon not having the pro cymbals in stock until Sunday(10/31 and a delivery date of next Wed.), I cancelled from there and ordered from NewEgg, who already had them in stock, and should be delivered Wednesday.
Not sure why Amazon is having them in stock so late, but they lost a sale. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
They probably don't want designing album covers because of the inevitable obscenities that would get uploaded.
I know I'd like to edit the cover art used for songs to get rid of all the damn greatest hits covers. |
