Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Hai guys!
Spoiler:

Leaderboards are totally screwed up, but you might see some familiar names on them. I haven't played Guitar at all, but Shag and Kij have. Kij was also the only one doing vocals. Good thing they are resetting them at launch.

Uber blurry awesome pics:

You missed the point of the post. For a hint, check which thread you're in.

Ok, I wasn't bitching to bitch. I was gloating in the fact that some people would have to wait to play their awesome new game.

In Rock Band 2, it plays the song with the part removed, but in the Beatles game it adds random noises. It's kind of like if someone is playing but missing notes. I didn't see any way to disable this.

What's nice about the way RB2 handles it is that if you have a real guitar or other instrument, you can get a nice backing track with the rest of the band that you can use to play along.
I've done this to play along with a real guitar, but my method may be simpler than "Activate no-fail mode and turn down the crowd noise. Get a song started with a guitar or keyboard and then stop playing."

I just go into the Practice Mode for guitar and the backing track plays perfect

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Noticed that in the RBN store (and probably the normal one) you can list everything out by release date, so it makes it really easy to see what new songs went up and when.

However, in the library if you sort by "Date Acquired" it doesn't check like the file creation date, so I only have two categories, Newly Acquired (Hendrix) and Previously Acquired. Kind of disappointed about that, but at least from now going forward it should work.

One amazing thing is how fast everything is. Navigating through the menus is completely seamless and fluid. Also the time it takes to load a song is ridiculously fast.

Oh, and Pro Drums is awesome as fuck. It makes even the boring songs really fun. But now I found that one of my Ion cymbals is double registering sometimes, and in general they are just too loud. I think I might go buy another couple of the Pintech ones, they seem really good.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Also, if you google "RB3989430M34/02/1" you will find listings for the bundle, but no clue which ones are actually shipping now and which aren't. It's pretty hit or miss I think.

So I shouldn't even talk about the game until you get it? I'll be sure to talk about it even more then, just to irritate you.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I went to my local K-Mart tonight, which I'm sure like most of yours is a total shithole. I went to electronics, searched for RB3, couldn't find it, then when I actually found someone who worked there I explained that Rock Band 3 should be out now, and that they moved the release date up so if they could grab one from the back I would promptly pay them for it and be on my way. Guy was all "Derp yeah no problem herp I'll be right derp back derp" but then came back and said they hadn't even gotten any.

So close.

I see scores there.

Also, why is that listed as 2006 (1985)? Does that just mean the song came from the Greatest Hits album which was released in 2006?

Yeah. Much easier to list it like that; avoids any rights/licensing issues with the BTTF soundtrack. I would imagine it makes it easier to merge with any future Huey Lewis DLC, too.

How does the character creation match up to RB2? Can you recreate your previous band members like you essentially could in RB2?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I don't like the use of Greatest Hits albums for the covers. I understand that with "The Power of Love" it's problematic with licensing, but in most other cases they should use the original album.

You lied to a K-Mart employee. You sad, sad man. As if their lives weren't already pathetic enough without you going in there and lying to their faces.

Can you please confirm that Pro drums has disco beats correctly mapped to yellow cymbals now? (ex: Rio, Girls on Film, Run to the Hills, Red Barchetta, Everlong, etc. I think In The Meantime aslo has this beat on RB3).

PS. I have Pintechs with my IONs and I HIGHLY recommend them. The 10 inch hi-hat is flawless, even with super fast runs of notes. Not a single missed note or double hit. The 14 inch works great for ride and crash

Yes, "disco beats" are correctly charted to hi-hat.
