Whoa, how did I miss the Bon Jovi news? I just now read about it, and I couldn't be happier! I've wanted "Bad Medicine" since the first RB came out, and I thought it was a shoo-in after the piano was added into RB3. Then, only to be disappointed with no Bon Jovi at all in RB3. But now a huge track pack for them, hell yes! I wonder if the three previous songs will be re-released with keyboard/pro mode added in?

Perhaps Dani California and Black Hole Sun will be updated at launch? Hence why they're not in there right now?

I'm a natural skeptic and as such I found it hard to believe that someone who had paid money to ADD Soundgarden songs into his library would have deliberately deleted one.

Still being a skeptic a few days later, I find this to be pretty definitive proof:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-xcHEMJ1Pw

It's a video from a leaked copy of the game. At 3:00 in you can see the number of tracks from each source and clearly see 53 songs from RB1. The game initially had 58 songs, we lost 3 initially and now we have two more lost. In the comments the poster of this video confirms that "Dani California" and "Black Hole Sun" no longer show up in his setlist.

The most telling thing is that this video isn't called "DEFINITIVE PROOF THAT NOT ALL LEGACY DLC WORKS IN RB3!" Dude is just showing off his game and only addressed the two missing songs unceremoniously in the comments. To doubt it at this point is literally to suggest that there's some sort of underground movement to fool people into thinking there are missing songs when there aren't. Are we to believe that the handful of people who have copies of this game have conspired to delete these two songs off their harddrives to mess with us?

That's crazy, just like it's crazy to cling to a bunch of assumptions based on broad and general comments like "we licensed all the content for future games!" I mean, it was pretty much accepted as fact that all the RB2 songs were immediately licensed for future games due to what happened with the 3 that didn't carry over from RB1 to RB2 and what do we have now? Harmonix dragging their feet on what WILL carry over and only confirming that some WON'T.

What's also crazy is for any of us to think we know the licensing agreements for any of these songs and to somehow think that the presence of a file on our harddrives is a guarantee that a game will recognize it. In reality the Rock Band library is undoubtedly comprised of thousands of individual licensing deals, each one with its own little quirks and conditions so when something as major as a new installment of the series comes along it stands to reason that there will be a few snags. Also, from a technical standpoint Lego: Rock Band proves that certain songs can simply be flagged for exclusion.

Ultimately I'm extremely disappointed in this development (more for the RHCP song, and it makes me worry about "Give It Away" too) and I'm still holding out hope that the licensing can eventually be worked out and the songs can be unlocked via a title update but I can't rationalize sticking my head in the sand like an ostrich and ignoring the very likely possibility that it's true.

 Thanks for this. I do hold out hope that this is just considered "Legacy DLC" and isn't available yet.

I think "Dani California" is really fun to play, so I'm not going to be happy to lose it.

I guess what doesn't make sense is that the RB1 export license should have been like DLC at that point and licensed as "Rock Band platform" going forward. I don't see how we can continue to play the file in RB2 but not in RB3, especially since there's no additional licensing or fees to deal with.

Look at the bright side: At least we still have "Mary Jane's Last Dance."

There could be a day one patch that enables some or all of those five missing songs. Maybe the licensing deals are still being worked out? It might be a long shot, but...

 Just got email word about obtaining a review copy. Sadly, they said no hardware will be disseminated :( So, here's hoping that Gamestop puts the keys out early if not already.

Shouldn't be a problem L&O, Gamestop.com shows the 14th for PS3 and 19th for Xbox. If not, I think there are many places both online and B&M that are currently selling them.

Yeah I read that too. Some people on the Rock Band Forums who got the game early are reporting it doesn't work:

Well shitballs.

Amazon still doesn't have Release Date Shipping for the keyboard bundle and so it won't arrive until the 29th. So I changed from 2-day to 1-day shipping... arrival still listed at the 29th. Then I wanted to change my order to just the game and I'd pick up the keyboard elsewhere. Doing so would mean I lose the $20 credit I used on the order. Dammit...

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Well if you have to have it on release day and have the disposable cash you can always buy it and when your amazon one comes in return that with the receipt. You are returning the exact same item so i don't think that would be considered bad, it's not like you are trying to return without a receipt to a different store /shrug

I'm also at the moment learning rhythm guitar now so I will probably get the pro guitar as if it's as close as they say then it may be great practice, while I learn from the teacher at the same time.

It looks like it's their own form of tab. Provided i don't start blurring the line between real tablature and the one they designed for the game then it will help anyways. It will at least get me faster at switching chords and doing the power chords that I am currently having trouble with.

You should try emailing them. I asked if they would let me buy each one separately but still get it for the $10 less that the bundle is, so that I'd at least get the game on the release date. They agreed and gave me a $10 credit and then I placed two separate orders.
