I got the achievement shortly after I linked, but it was after I turned off the game and turned it back on maybe an hour later.

I logged in the day the linking became available, and it already said I was linked. So I unlinked and re-linked and got the achievement the next time I turned it on.
Also, no posts in 24 hours because we're all playing Rock Band 3! I'm at 130 hours, and still have a long ways to go!

I burned myself out on RB3 almost within the first week. I'll be back to it soon enough, but I needed a break from trying for the disc-based achievements.

I'm going through the songs by song title, and I'm about halfway through 'F' now, with just over 2600 stars. I have absolutely no problem spending an entire day playing 30-50 songs on guitar, and do this several times a week.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I'm not even actively going for the achievements or goals right now. I'm just trying to re-log scores for everything on guitar right now. Then I'll move on to vocals or something.

Right now I'm just down to the 5* everything on expert (20 left, I suck
) and the Zombie HOPOs (which will just come with time).
I think the Bohemian Rhapsody Harmony one is impossible for me and any pair I enlist.
Other than that, it's all Pro G/B or Drum trainers (only 2 cymbals
)

Also, I'm not buying one single piece of "upgraded" keys DLC if this is how it's going to work. Unless it's part of a pack like these Bon Jovi songs are, I'm not paying a total of $4 for something that someone who just picked up the game only had to pay $2 for.

Right on. I think in this case, the $1 upgrade fee should cover harmonies and keys. Or have 2 different $1 upgrade fees if the margins don't justify that.

Looks like they got the site back working again.
Apparently I am #33 on the Pro Guitar leaderboards

Of course that is out of the 34 people who have a pro guitar LOL

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
The Mustang doesn't feel exactly like playing a real guitar, but it's close enough for skills to transfer to and from. Does take some getting used to, but for $150 I think this thing is really amazing.
I've been trying to practice not looking at the fretboard when I can get away with it to get more used to playing by feel. However it's a lot more easy to pick the wrong string, since on a real guitar you can easily feel whether you are touching the right string or not, even before you pick.
I kind of wish the side fret markers were a little more prominent to make it easier when you have jump up to a high spot on the fretboard in dim light, but that's just a nitpick.
It is really really hard to sightread single note runs and leads. Lots of stuff that I know I could play but just can't deal with the info coming that quickly, but that was pretty much what I expected. Haven't really tried practicing anything yet.
I really wish the game would remember that I want Chord Numbering turned on. There is never a time I wouldn't want it (IMO the chord 'shapes' are useless as they don't give enough info) but you have to go in and change that setting every time you launch the game.
One thing that surprised me was that I tried to use the Mustang as a MIDI controller with a couple of synths and got very glitchy results. I thought it would be as reliable as a MIDI keyboard due to not having to track actual strings, but unless I was doing something wrong (possible) it doesn't seem to work that well.
Any questions just let me know.

Yeah, the web site leaderboard says there are 640 entries for 360 Pro Guitar, but that's still not a huge amount. I'm sure there will be a lot more once Amazon and Gamestop start getting them.

Man I could have done great on my first try of Caught in a Mosh XPG, if it hadn't been for that damn solo.
Tried it a few times and kept failing at the solo, so I turned on 'no fail'.
Now I feel bad for taking the #1 spot on the leaderboard

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Here's a thought.
Playing Pro-drums takes takes so much more effort than regular drums. I played ten songs on Pro-Expert yesterday and had to take a break. I'd go for a few hours on regular without feeling anything more than a cramp in my pedal thigh.
It's also much more necessary to really tailor your kit to your style. My biggest difficulty so far is changing my orientation when going from the blue or green cymbal to a blue or green pad. I register that I need to play cymbal or pad about 50% of the time. Then, out of the the 50% I actually process, I actually strike the cymbal or pad another 50%. So many times I just whiff altogether. Once you get in a groove with the repetition, I find it VERY hard to switch from high to low on the right side of the kit. I also feel like it takes much longer to recover from a flub. My first reaction is always to go back to the pads when I lose my place.
...and btw, the retarded monkey flailings returned for the first time in a long time on Yoshimi. There are some very unusual patterns in that song. Towards the end I must have looked like I was swatting flies. Hesitate. No. Back up. Guess. Swing and miss. Re-center myself back on the pads. Fuck. That's a cymbal. Arrrgghh.

It's really frustrating to go from having so much fun playing drums to sucking so bad all over again, on top of not having time to really relearn stuff. I just want to get on and have fun playing some of the songs I like. It is a lot of fun when I'm getting it right though, so I guess it's just back to more practice, practice, practice. And I was so close to finishing Rock Show on Expert in RB2. lol

Cool! Thanks for the heads up. Her solo stuff isn't that bad, though I'd loooove for "Here & Now" to come to RB. An aside: I think she looks much hotter now as a punky MILF than she did in her Letters to Cleo days.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I hear you. I wouldn't be so upset if they didn't include a Legend song on disc and the DLC wasn't put out so close to RB3's release. Harmonix really dropped the ball here. They should've just added keys support to the whole album and held off a month or two from releasing it. It sucks that on such a keyboard-heavy album I can only play one song on keys (right now).

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Also, they did say that keys were part of the reason why they couldn't make the DLC backwards compatible. I'm sure that's just marketing BS though, because it would be easy to just have some sort of comment tag (which they probably have) that would normally be ignored, but then parse it for something specific after it and then read that data only for RB3. They probably also have some sort of End of File tag, that they could change for RB3 to indicate that the key data is after that. Ultimately I think there are many ways the problem with RB3 content not being backwards compatible could of been fixed, but sales wise it makes sense not to keep supporting RB2, which is what this ability also eliminated easily.
