I just got the first issue of Best Buy's GAMER magazine, and they gave it a 3.5/5 so I'm off to make a purchase!

Re: Naughty Bear (PS3/360) - The Homicidal Teddy Ruxpin Thread

I was in a gamestop today and the guy behind the counter was talking to some kids trying to impress them with his story on how he attended E3.

The kids brought up some A-level games and asked what he thought of them. He said that a few were bad and not worth it.

He then went into telling them that he just bought Naughty Bear and how it was one of the best games he has ever played!

Any credibility that guy had went out the door when he mentioned that....

I was super pysched to play this, based on the trailers. What's not to like about stabbing teddy bears in the face with an axe, or shooting them in the kneecaps?

But then the reviews came out and they were abysmal, and I lost interest. Sad and disappointing because this could have been great.

Well, if you hit them in the face with an axe and absolutely nothing happens to them except they stop moving, what's the friggin point? It seems almost beyond comprehension that they didn't model some dismemberment animation and stuffing-flying "gore". It's the easiest slam-dunk in video games, but somehow they blew it. That couldn't have been a conscious decision; they must have just run out of time and/or and just released the game half-baked.

The trailer I saw (I believe) it had stuffing being pulled out.

I saw somebody play the original at a Fry's. All it took was 5 minutes of him trying his best to fiddle around with it for me never to want to ever play the game. The concept was interesting though (so I guess if the XBLA game improves control, I could be swayed).

Holy fuck.

At least they got the XBLA/PSN part right this time around.

Psychonauts doesn't rate a sequel, but this game does?

I understand less about this industry than even Curt Shilling does.

What a random game to sequel-ize. Did the first game sell well at all?

Re: Naughty Bear (PS3/360) - The Homicidal Teddy Ruxpin Thread

I agree. We can't get a Psychonauts 2 or a Beyond good and evil 2, yet this piece of shit gets a sequel. That makes absolutely no sense at all.

I'm ashamed of how much of the first one I played and even I'm not demanding a sequel.
