I feel no sorrow for those who do not keep their software up to date. Deftones, you're the man, but epic fail!

IT nerd at work gave me a new video card today to take home... an NVidia 9600GSO. He says it's better than my 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro. I just hope i have room in my case to install it.

The game comes with 3 codes. 1 on the disc sleeve and 2 on cards in the box.

I upgraded to SP1 last week and I'm still working on recovering my hard drive. It's been known to destroy the boot sector of drives.

my computer is toast right now. won't boot or anything. fucking awesome. i am considering just going out and buying windows 7 and saying fuck it to vista. only reason it was on there was b/c my friend gave me a copy he didn't need. now i'm regretting that decision. shit burgers.

Anyone else having issues where the CD key is not accepted on Blizzard's site? This is really fucking annoying to have the game and not be able to play it.

Make sure you typed a "b" instead of an "8" or vice versa. That screwed me up at first.

For everyone else, my character name is "edstein" and my character code is "932". Add me as a friend if you like.

I've tried lower case, upper case, with and without the hyphens, and every combination of the characters that could be odd, like B/8, nothing works. On hold with Blizzard right now but expect to get hung up on soon.

I actually got through to Blizzard after 1 hour on hold, have just been transferred to tech support. I will be happy if they can fix this tonight.

All fixed, what looked like an "A" was actually an "H", really bad printing. But Blizzard came through and fixed it for me which is great, now to play!

Re: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty (Mac & PC) - July 27th, 2010

Question -- do I need to register online to be able to play single-player? I'm on the road with spotty internet access, and while I might try to pick up a copy before I get home, since there's no guarantee I'll be able to get online again any time soon, I won't bother unless I can get it up and running without an internet connection.

And now it occurs to me that by the time anyone replies to this, I won't be online to read it.

Re: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty (Mac & PC) - July 27th, 2010

I got it installed last night and from what I saw of the graphics, it looks amazing. The little background story while the game was installing was a nice touch.

The only issue I wish I didn't have is that I wanted to create a second user under my battle.net account. I swear in the past you used to be able to do that as I had two users under my account way back in the day when I played Diablo II. I wanted to let my roommate play with his own account under my battlenet account. But, that is not possible. He either has to play with me signed in. Or, if he uses his battle.net account, he has to buy another copy to be able to play it.

You used to be able to create different battlenet accounts to play with the same key. If you had tried to play with both accounts, one of you would boot the other off. I used to have a d2 account with all my main characters, then have other battlenet d2 accounts for my mules.

That was how I thought it worked in the past from what I recall with D2. But, it looks like now Battle.net only lets you create one account with the key tied to your battle.net login.

I guess he'll have to wait for the game to go on sale or drop in price or pony up $60 to get a key of his own.

I just wanted him to have the option of logging into my battle.net account and using his own username to play so that my game didn't get played messing up my progress, etc.

Just discovered the save games sync over battlenet. Played from where I left off on my Mac when I moved to my PC. SWEET!

Re: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty (Mac & PC) - July 27th, 2010

yeah. in WC III you used to be able to create a new account to clean out your record and rank. Looks like you cannot do this anymore in SCII.

graphics are so-so but i was not expecting much from the graphics. For blizzard it is all about the gameplay.

haven't played SC in about 10 years. really rusty. took me awhile to figure out why i couldn't build the advance buildings. turns out it is a different menu ('v' versues 'b'). spent about 2 hours before i figured this out!

I haven't play SC in over a decade as well. I just picked up a copy at KMart, taking advantage of their $20 gaming coupon, making it (essentially) a $40 game. I couldn't get into the MSRP for this game as it seems almost unethical to charge an extra $10 just because your game is highly anticipated. This deal pushed me over the edge. Looking forward to see how it plays on my new-ish gaming rig tonight!

BTW : I take it now that there weren't advance reviews not because of any embargo but rather that they didn't let anyone have the game early. Some reviews are beginning to trickle in now. They're all very highly scored at Metacritic.

All past Blizzard games have been $60... at least I recall Diablo 2 being so upon release.

Part of me thought I should wait for the SC2 Battlechest to come out. But I guess that would be a couple of years down the road.

Re: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty (Mac & PC) - July 27th, 2010

I haven't been following this game too closely. Can someone explain the release plan to me? I understand that this game only follows the Terran storyline. Is there going to be two more full stand-alone games coming out? Will they have a different multiplayer game with them? Or are they expansions? And when do we get them?

Thanks.
