Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

You'll see its outline in certain places on the map where it can be spawned. It's usually just sitting there in the middle of a path near your base. I haven't bought one yet, because it's $12,500 I think, but I've seen its (red!) outline on several different maps.

Also, a word of warning: a lot of people have reported an issue that if the incorrect storage device is accidentally selected on the title screen, all your profile's stats (level, medal and achievement progress) are wiped clean and reset to 0, even after going back and re-selecting the correct storage device. One of the developers has responded that it's due to exploit prevention code, but I'm not sure if the issue is fully understood or addressed yet. It's definitely happening, though, so be careful.

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

Do you have to be at a certain level to buy it? Because today in my team I finally had enough money to buy it, yet I went to where it was and I saw nothing. The next round another team mate purchased it right in front of my eyes.

I am level 13.

do you have it opened up? you have to spend at least $160,000 on barriers before it lets you buy it.

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

what was messing me up was that some of the command post don't have the silverback attached to them...once I changed command post it popped up just fine...

Microsoft and most third party devs are fucktarded about this storage device stuff.

1) Microsoft, default the selection to the device my profile is on, I can change if I want.
2) Devs, search the devices for a save game already and auto-load it. Allow me the option to change devices from a menu, but only keep one.
3) No save file should be copy-protected. If I want to make a copy, that's my business. If this coexistence breaks Rule #2, then store a key in the profile that points to the real/active storage location. Even those hacky sack stoners at Harmonix got this right.

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

Probably will finish tonight. We did Act 3 last night and
Spoiler:
I was Dom. I totally deserved a kill streak Arcade bonus at the end.

Edit: preemptively spoilerized for cry-babies that come into the new game thread before they finish. I guess I'm the one that needs to exhibit self-control.

Hey, the people that read the Gears of Wars books back in the late 90s have done a good job staying out of this adaptation's thread. Because, you know, it's totally the same.

Was there an L.A. Noire book in the 90s?

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

You're not going to find me complaining about game spoilers in a game thread after said game comes out. In fact, I'm the one that started a whole thread about why we need to protect other people from themselves.

Anyway, that's way OT here and it's been re-hashed to death. I edited myself for other people as a courtesy even though I don't think it's necessary at all.

I'm beginning to think I'm drunk because I have no idea what's going on now. I know I'm not drunk because I'm definitely not having fun.

Screw you guys, I'm going home.

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

So 4-player co-op on hardcore is pretty darn difficult. The tricky thing is that if you die, sometimes it will spawn you so that you're guaranteed to die again in the same way. I guess you're only options are to back up to a previous check point, or back out and notch down to normal.

Also, survival on normal is very difficult as well. Even the second wave (11-20) feels progressively more difficult than it was in Gears2.

Any suggestions to get more money? Are there string combos or something to that effect? Repairing wire and such becomes very pricey, especially when buying you life back in the middle of a round become increasingly costly.

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

Best Horde match ever last night, on Wave 36 with 3 other people, still going strong and...connection lost.........reconnecting with new host......match about to begin in 5, 4, 3, 2 1---on WAVE !@)#*! SIX.

That did not go over well. Second time it's happen to me (before it was only Wave 14 knocked back down to Wave 3). SERIOUSLY---I hope they can patch that up......

I do know what you mean about spawning too: Twice I paid $1500 or $3000 to respawn and was put once in front of a giant monster and died instantly and once on the other side of the map. Not sure why...

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

How do you target enemies to coordinate attacks? I read you can do that. Apparently you can swap money like weapons as well.

Why are these things not laid in the game out before you start playing? Very frustrating.

I assumed if you bought back in it would spawn you near your teammates. I guess not. The one time I died last night I didn't have enough money to buy back in.

Re: Official Gears of War 3 thread

Click the left stick to target an enemy.

Been playing a bit of coop insane. You learn to use death to your advantage (go on a suicide run to stick an armored Kantus, then die and respawn with new grenades).
