thanks for the response pin. would you, seriously, search 71 pages, almost 1800 responses? gimme a f-in break Larry. first question in well more than a week and it's not even "how do you do this or where do you find that".

Scott buddy I was messing around. I could care less if you ask a million questions. I personally enjoy the reactions to them.

Also, on the beavers...are they supposed to be JUST by the water or out in the fields by the water as I have been up and down that river a shitload of times and have only found 2.

Use the Buffalo Rifle and shoot them right between the eyes.

I remember seeing some people commenting on the little details Rockstar adds into their games (and this by they way is what will also get you hooked on their games) so I thought I would chime in with mine.

It's a pretty subtle one....basically, I was in mexico standing on the side the road (can't remember where exactly) when I decided to get up to do something (meaning literally walked away from the controller for a second) when I came back I just let the game sit still for a couple more seconds as I was still doing something else when all of a sudden I hear a bug noise zoom in, then bite Marston on the neck, then fly away while the noise it made faded out as well. The screen also went red because I lost a little energy but it went red in a different way; it was liked cracked with a bug or bite mark on it....anyway, I just thought it was really cool.

Any tips on how I can easy win a horseshoes match? It's a stupid and boring game but I need to win one match so I can unlock one of the costume.

This. That's the way I did it. Red Eye (?) helps too.

Same question. I've tried a couple of times and I'm just unable to get a good shot/throw.

Thanks for the tips folks. Managed to kill those bears and find the beavers. In doing so I glanced at my outfits area to find I missed some Stranger missions (California, Love is the Opiate). Now I am wondering how many I may have passed by. Red Dead Redemption is the game that keeps on giving.

Patience. I won on the first try @ Mcfarlane's Ranch (easiest match by far) and got a ringer in the first match also. once you figure out how to line everything up its a piece of cake.

Yeah, there's just a specific release - slightly to the right of the target - that gets you close every time as long as you hit the strength/distance line.

 Finally accomplished the six disarms without reloading or changing weapons. Woooo! Last of my challenges.

You have to nail the line exactly. I have to do this by slightly pressing the button earlier than it appears. I ended up playing horseshoes in the game for hours. I really liked it.

Just keep playing, and you will get it. It took me a long ass time to get it, but I did :)

Be sure to only bet $1 on the match. The more you bet, the more skilled your opponent.

This is definitely the easiest way. Also, Remember to use the controller like you're actually swinging your arm....once you get that down it's makes it even easier.

What is the gameplay length for you guys? 60-75 hours? (not just the main story)

Raul3 08-08-10 07:39 PM

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I'm around 75% complete (as shown in Stats) in ~30 hours or so. I just started the Blackwater missions.

Is anybody considering the $10 update tomorrow? It doesn't sound very enticing to me but I'd love to hear opinions.

I'm definitely thinking about it. The next few packs after that seem to offer more value... but I'll probably have to wait and see what the new multiplayer maps are all about. I need to do some serious level grinding on multiplayer for that trophy so some more variety would be welcome.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

That's the boat I'm in. Plus I'm a completion whore and I feel that crunch too. But I wonder if there'll be a massive pack offered later with everything (like the Gears of War 2 "All Fronts" Pack) or just wait until they're all out for the inevitable XBLM sale.

Or dump the disc now and rebuy it later when there's a massive retail collection.

Picked up a Psn card to get this. Me personally I'm just buying for the trophies, but the additional content is welcomed.

Having fun with the DLC so far. One of the tomahawk challenges "complete a ganghideout only using tomahawks" any suggestions??? I'm thinkin Twin Rocks.

Re: horseshoes

So I checked a few videos in Youtube and yeah, it looks like it's pretty simple. I tried myself some of the tips and I just can't do it.
Then I noticed something, the bar you see filling up in the left it's always red, or sometime yellow. In all the videos is always green. So that means that I'm always throwing too hard. Sometimes I'm able to hit the middle line, but the bard is yellow so my throw ends up sucking.
So how do I make the bar to turn green? I tried moving the right stick to fast, too slow, middle speed, it just turns yellow. I'm going all the way down and then back, getting impulse, etc.

I just can't do it. :(

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Maybe I'm better than I thought I was as I'm only at 39 hours and have completed the game, all side quests, and a bunch of other shit - I'm not at 100% game completion nor do I care to be and I have wasted a lot of time hunting, gambling (I swear this game is great for opening a beer, sitting down and relaxing to play some blackjack with that piano player in the background), and a ton of other pointless shit....I do this with every Rockstar title (except GTA IV was kind of boring but I loved the environment)...guess that's why I like them so much.

Also, I was chilling at thieves landing the other day when all of a sudden a ton of birds were screeching....scared the shit out of me as I was half out of it, I ran out of the bar to see a huge flock of birds flying over head - was really freakin' cool and I don't remember seeing that in the game before.

I'll be skipping this first round of DLC though...doesn't really interest me but from some of the comments at Rockstar's site (I know, they (the comments) can be pretty grating to the language) the new maps really improve the multi-player as a whole so maybe down the road. I am starting to spend too much money on these damn games.

That's what I'd do. Shouldn't matter because you can die an infinite number of times. Hell, just stand around a public one while everyone else kills and don't do anything and it'll probably unlock.
