saw a shocking in-game scene...
 
so i was searching for the level 3 treasure down by Rio Del Lobo, probably a good 100-200 yards in the wrong direction. came to a clearing between the woods just off the shore of the river and saw a man huddled over what i believed to be his dead wife.

i then thought he was going to turn into a blue dot and have me do something for him,

but nope...he takes out a gun and shoots himself in the head. saw the bullet go through his head and then slump over his wife.


i was so shocked and amazed at the same time. what an unbelievable touch to include something such as this that i might never had seen if i wasn't lost and just searching aimlessly.

anyone else come across this or other oddities that shocked? should i have kept that in spoilers or does everyone know about it?

Yeah, I saw that one once or twice. It was cool but I think it's usually because of something you didn't do like

I came across the man in a clearing in Tall Trees,

on his knees crying and babbling incoherently, who suddenly pulls out his revolver audibly cocks the hammer while pointing it to his head, he then hesitates and shoots himself. no other dead body though.
I was like :wtf:

Man walking by me in the middle of nowhere countryside, as I pass him I see a dead woman he had just walked away from. Creepy.

I saw random shootouts that had nothing to do with anything I was doing all the time and random fistfights in town.

one of the most exciting things Ive seen was when I had just won a duel in Thieves Landing. Somehow the shooting got someone pissed or maybe a stray shot hit someone but it started a gang war. For the next 5 minutes everyone in the town was shooting at each other. I dove into the whorehouse and hid while they had at it. When it was done there were random dead bodies strewn from the gun shop all the way to the stagecoach.

i've hardly even done the main story challenges. i love mostly just hunting for various game, then catching a live bounty, helping a damsel in distress and occasionally finding treasure.

killed me some cougars with my melee knife and was psyched. when i see a critter in real life now, i wonder why i don't have a rifle in my hand to shoot it.

I had a funny glitch right before I finished the game.

Spoiler:
It was the part in the barn when John is telling his wife and son to leave on the horse. Well as they got on the horse you could see another Jack standing in the barn his face was all busted up, and he just kept standing there. It kind of ruined the end for me since I was thinking why was there another Jack standing in the barn, when he just rode off with his mother. Weird.

What Ive been doing is: Load game>choose multiplayer>choose private multiplayer then invite my friend to the game. Ok then we are both in the world together. I hit my back button and there is the list of game types. Which one is hunting?

New update is out:

A new automatic title update (version 1.03) is now available for Red Dead Redemption on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. You will be prompted to download the title update as soon as you sign into PSN or Xbox LIVE.

This update contains the following new anti-griefing measures for Multiplayer Free Roam:

• While in Multiplayer Free Roam, if a player achieves a kill streak of 6 or more without dying, they will become a Public Enemy and receive a $1000 bounty.
• While in Multiplayer Free Roam, if killed three times by any human player and each death is within 80 seconds of respawn, the victim is given the option to respawn away from the area.

This new title update also addresses the following issues:

• Players now have the ability to swap shoulder buttons L1/L2, R1/R2.
• Players now have the ability to save game with cheats turned on.
• When playing the game with Region set to Asia, incorrect button prompts were displayed.
• Downloadable Outfits were not appearing in Change Outfits Menu after being unlocked.
• Invincibility cheat was turned off when activating Dead Eye.
• Occasionally, the player would not recover from being drunk.
• It was possible to have two player horses, with one permanently following the player.
• If equipped with the bandana, sliding doors would temporarily attach to the player’s head. rotfl

Aside, while hunting for beavers today:

*Came across, I think, the man shooting himself senerio in the woods but instead he was just rolling around on top of a dead woman. EWWWWW!
*Survived an attack by a bear and two cougars at the same time only to be killed by a rattle snake I fell on
*Shot MYSELF in the head when trying to shoot a bird I fell off a cliff :lol:

But anyway, yeah, seriously, where the hell are the beavers?
