My problem was I was searching from a distance. It would have been much easier had I known I & II were separate images and not one big picture.

edit: No problem w/ treasure #2.
Still can't find it even with these tips. Any direct advice on where to find this would be great.

Also, I should be online to play this this eve around 1130ish.

Spoiler:
Go to Hanging Rock and search around the big ass boulder. You'll go behind one boulder and see a pile of small rocks on the ground. Approach that and you'll be prompted to search.

My direct advice is to just go to youtube and watch the video for each one

I'm on the one now (5 or 6) with the rock formation that looks like a pile of dog shit. I don't recall ever seeing anything like that, so I have no idea where to even start. I'll just continue doing missions and keep my eye out for Dog Shit Rock.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

Treasure Hunter #2 was, by far, the most difficult one for me. I found the general area and path easily enough, but for some reason the scale seemed off. I went WAAAAAY to far. That was the only one I resorted to a video on.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

In Treasure 2, it didn't take me too long to find the precise spot, but I was getting attacked like crazy by the local critters once I got to the general area. That slowed me down.

This is actually the hardest thing in the game to do if you want 100%

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

So I finished the main story, and decided to check out Free Roam for the first time. I must be lucky tonight, because the first person I killed gave me the "Kill A Rockstar" achivement. Isn't this one of the hardest to get in multiplayer?

No, it's actually the easiest. That type of achievement is basically referred to as a "virus" because now that you got it, the next person that kills you online will then get it and so on. I got it during my first time online as well.

The missions for the Strangers are some of the best mini narratives. "California" and "Flowers For a Lady" are two of my favorites.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

The 2nd to last "Mysterious Stranger" encounter gives an eerie foreshadowing of the game's ending.

Spoiler:
After John Marston gets pissed at him and shoots over his head to freak him out (to no effect), the encounter ends. Your journal reads something to the effect of "Your encounter with the Mysterious Stranger has ended. You will not encounter him again." You're left wondering what the whole point of the character is, then. But it's true. John Martson does not encounter him again. But JACK Marston does...

Just a nice (if kinda spooky) touch.

What I never saw, but just read now, was that
Spoiler:
The Mysterious Stranger was present at Marston's final stand, watching silently behind Ross and his posse as they gunned Marston down. I dunno if he was Death. The first mission he gave Marston was to prevent or encourage a man to cheat on his wife with a hooker. The second was to support or rob a nun who was receiving alms for the poor. Then he gives Jack Marston the lead to find (and kill) Edgar Ross.

Death is one interpretation. He could also be God, or Satan, or even a representation of The Past catching up with every character. Who knows. But I like how it keeps us questioning...

I'm about 2/3 through and the game feels like the prettiest chore I've ever done, but I'm clearly in the minority.

Hmmm, I didn't find it hard at all. It's just a matter of knowing the patterns (which are fairly simple) and quickly dialing them in.

The hardest thing for me was disarming 6 people. I kept shooting them dead, and it seemed that the game wasn't giving me credit sometimes (I kept checking to see). I think the gun was reloading itself without my input. What really helped was to empty all the ammo except for a full clip, thereby making reloading impossible.

Re: Official Larry C Red Dead Redemption thread!!!

I have a quite hilarious and sad story at the same time. I spent around 2 hrs the other day shooting CIVILIANS with a mounted gun to get the "mowing them down" trophy. After killing over 500 people and no ding, I decide to look it up and to my chagrin I found out that you have to kill 500 ENEMIES. So after 3 and a half hrs tonight in private free roam I finally got the damn trophy.(yes I know I have no life)
