Finally killed myself 5 boars to finish off my Hunter Rank 4 challenge last night. Now I have to kill 2 cougars with my melee knife?!? Jesus...

This does not work. This only saves the game options, which is a completely different save file. I thought this would work as well, but you can see that nothing changes if you look at your game saves immediately after.

I'm on that one as well...and I thought the wolves were tough.

Oops, my bad! I saw the "Saving" animation in the top left corner and assumed it was a game save. Sorry!

I've had expert targeting on this entire time (through the 2nd chapter). I got 250 headshots a few days ago. Still don't have 500 kills in either weapon group. Am I making it harder on myself? I don't find it hard, but I'm thinking maybe I'd rely less on Dead Eye (and the lovely vices that go with it :drool:) if I just had it set lower.

Shit, I've never "bought" a horse. I suppose I need to do that so I can have a chance at that achievement. I've gone out of my way to not lose it, have it die, or do any other horsebreaking.

Edit: Crap, just checked my Social Club progress and it looks like I only have 16 story missions left so I'm SOL anyway on that. No matter, I'll just have to play again :D

To the NE of Thieves' Landing. The big fold-out map that came with the game has been pretty damn good in telling me where to go for wildlife. The in-game map is also ok, but the various zoom levels remove detail.

I started seeing boars and goats and shit after a while of playing. Not sure if it's by location or by how far along you are. I know the map shows where which animals generally are but whether it includes boars and whatnot.....I'm not sure. It seems every time I go to a bear or coyote area and drop some bait, a cougar is the only thing that shows up and starts to maul me. Can't imagine how the knifing wolves or bears will be.

Ok, thanks, I'll try there. I'd tried a few times in the area to the north of Hennigan's Stead (as marked on the fold-out map), but all I ever got when using bait were some coyotes and wolves.

I tried there first, but I came to notice those aren't boars, but pigs. You can see the boar much more clearly on the big map. And it was perfectly accurate for me.

I have killed almost all of my boars exactly north of MacFarlane's Ranch in Hennigan's Stead, and just a tiny bit north of there. There is a location right in there that constantly respawns both boards and wolves. Keep going north and you'll get to some trees on a big hill, and there are a bunch of bushes and stuff there. That's where they like to hang out. It may depend on the time of day also. The boars are incredibly easy to kill but if you piss one off and they get close enough to hit you, they can be just as deadly as a cougar.

The drawings on the map in the game are off on some things. I know I spent at least 15 minutes riding around in Mexico looking for the Hungarian Half-Bred in the area where the horses are drawn and finally found one SW of the drawing, below Escalera.
